    I am from Canada and I have to admit that these instructors can teach our instructors in Canada. Amazing method of teaching, so gentle way of explaining the LOGIC in driving. I wish I had instructors like these two gentlemen, who know what they are talking about. Thanks for your video and the sharing of your valuable experience. Cheers

    The only way you're going to learn how to operate these vehicles is practice, practice, practice and practice some more. As an example, a 60' Articulated MAN Transit Bus take it off a fuel island and to the back row and BACK it into a standard width parking space 65' long and don't hit the fence at the back of the parking space. Did that daily for years. Or participate in a BusRodeo and have a REAL right hand turn into a bus stop and be within the 6" measurement for both front and rear tires on a single lane into a two lane and not cross into the opposing traffic lane with a 40' transit bus. I'm a retired transit bus mechanic and supervisor. LOVED the work.

    • @NationalDrivingCentre
      @NationalDrivingCentre  Před 7 měsíci

      Some interesting points however, practice does not always make perfect and learning by your mistakes is not the We need to operate on the roads. As making mistakes will result in injury or harm.

    @ppo2424 Před 2 lety

    You mentioned the marker on the final part of the reverse,but not that it should be level with your wing mirror when you stop,at least on a typical single decker.. Also start with a one and a quarter turn on the steering wheel as a guide.

    • @NationalDrivingCentre
      @NationalDrivingCentre  Před 2 lety

      The markers on our vehicles are specifically placed to make sure the vehicle is in the reversing area at the end of the exam. We don't count turns on steering purely because the approach can be in different places when they come up to the cones because of this if you teach counting turns the student can compromise yellow line at the beginning. 👍👍

  • @ArnoldClarke
    @ArnoldClarke Před 2 lety +1

    There is a much easier way to do this.
    1. Turn wheel left 360 (quickly)
    2. Keep reversing until you see ALL THREE poles
    3.Turn wheel right 720 (quickly)
    4. Glide in and adjust accordingly.
    It really is that simple.
    DON’T touch the accelerator use the brake the same way you would use a clutch to bring to the bite. The key is to do it all at one speed.
    Trust me once you do it once, you’d wonder why you should do it any other way.

      Thank you so much for the comment, unfortunately having been training for a number of years. Teaching this technique doesn't work with every student as when they approach the cones there positioning can very from time to time, so therefore teaching this can often cause students to cross the line. Doing it the way we have described makes the student use there mirrors and observe where they are positioned at all times rather than counting turns which doesn't always work.

    So my question is: if you are not happy with it and you havent hit the barrier, can you go back in the bus and reverse it a bit more?

    • @NationalDrivingCentre
      @NationalDrivingCentre  Před 4 lety +1

      Absolutely correct Tomas. Jump out, have a look and if not happy, hop back in and reverse back a little more. You can do this only once though. Hope this helps!

    • @NationalDrivingCentre
      @NationalDrivingCentre  Před rokem

      Yes the examiner will tell you to go within the cones, so whether you go to the left or the right they will be happy. If you do make contact with a cone, then you will fail, and of course if The Tyre crosses the line you will fail. Hope this helps. If you've got any questions, please give us a call. 👍👍

    • @NationalDrivingCentre

      On our vehicles, we have a hosepipe on the back of the mudguard which tells us where the rear of the vehicle is when the student gets the hose pipe to the back of the black line. Then I know when to stop.
      Obviously this can be different for different companies, but we've been using this for over 20 years. Hope this helps. Best of luck. 👍👍👍

    I live in the US 🇺🇸 and been a Bus Operator for 7 years now. Over here Bus Drivers have get a "Commercial Class B Drivers License" through the DMV (Department Of Motor Vehicles.) The previous transit company I worked for practice this type of maneuver; however, drivers are not allowed to reverse a coach without a spotter per current employer.
