I actually enjoy watching deadlock more than most characters. making her work is kinda wacky, but when she works she looks insane
She's easily the most exciting sentinel both wo watch and play imo, she's just so much more involved
it's honestly kinda weird. she has to be smarter to function, but wow she's entertaining, as soon as I get up to gold I may have to think about dabbling with her on a map or two... @@Jotunn96
seeing this 2 hour long rant live was a journey fr
If youre looking for useful tech, definitely try the ceiling trips, you can place it above the player and it will stun downwards which somehow still registers as a stun. Its quite easy to do aswell, and most maps have places where you can place them. Best one for it is definitely Lotus . You can also angle trips on flat surfaces if you place the sonic sensor in a certain way.
Something I found was if your ceiling trip is too high the stun will trigger but won't actually stun the players caught in the particles such as a ceiling sensor placed on sunset b site above main. Just be careful which ones you're using because I'd been using a sensor for weeks not knowing it didn't even stun people x)
above destroyable door at sunset is a good one, there is a little ledge above doors and its undestryable
This is incredibly useful tech, not just a gimmick. Pretty sure there will be some insane spots for it when icebox is rotated back too.
really turns the trips from mediocre to usable
WAIT I KNOW YOU
One idea I’ve had that could make the sound sensor not terrible is to make it such that the sound sensor is more sensitive the closer the sound is to it. Maybe such that if some is walking right next to the sensor, they would still get picked up by the trip, thus making it an effective tool for actually watching flank. It might actually be a bit too good if it can actually watch flank properly, so maybe it could be balanced out by the fact that maybe with the walk-sensing range being short, it has to be placed in doorways or narrow corridors to fully catch rotators, thus limiting placement options.
that makes sense, though I do like the idea of a sentinel that isn’t good at watching flank and getting info, and instead holding site ez like hooj said
EREN is actually a goated player, I like how well he read the map and avoided making deadlock look as bad as she has seemed, the timings on deadlock line-ups too show there has been practice with her
In terms of tech, the only one that I could find using and developing deadlock tech is Boni, a small radiant level content creator. Examples includes ceiling sensor tech, gravnet lineups, bouncing the ult off ceilings.
Also one reason why you place two sensors is to guarantee one goes off, since its very easy to react to the sensor and shoot it, this still does not fix the issue of it not detecting lurkers holding walk past it.
ceiling trips are soo nice, thanks for mentioning me :D
I think the issue could easily be fixed if it doesn't take eternity to trigger and this is also coming from a deadlock main. Walking past the sensor, in my opinion, at this point, the player's fault because they know that they'd only react to sound but would place them where they are least likely to make sound
Last time I had a deadlock on the enemy team she netted me 9 times in the first half and I just alt f4d
As one of the five people that have committed to playing Deadlock since release it's so satisfying to see people acknowledge that gravnet is genuinely impactful after the buff
One way I have gotten value out of Deadlock is by placing sound sensors near the DL wall so that when enemies try to break the wall they trigger the sensor (but this takes a little time to set up, usually works best to hold flank on post plant). I also think sensors have more value when you place them in goofy places that enemies are more likely to be running through than shift walking through like your own spawn if they are fast rotating to flank through your spawn (like Cypher map control trips).
She is a reversed flank watcher. If you use those point where defender usually show up, put your sensors there and you watch flank instead. Also, the net buff was really neccessary, it's pretty strong rn
With the Deadlock changes, she is firmly in the Yoru tier: hard to fit her in pro play (at least without breaking current meta conventions), but good luck if you are playing against someone who can play her.
Deadlock's best use case has to be on Fade maps IMO. She's not only anti-flood, she's also anti-ground recon. She has the tools to stop some initiator shenanigans and contact aggropeeks. She can be also be played as a fringe OPer: her wall gives her free info, she can peek through it and it helps her from getting swarmed.
The main problem now is maps. Her best maps have to be Bind, Lotus and Fracture (they have areas that are susceptible to noise), followed by Ascent (a lot of areas to hide sound sensors) and Sunset (she can easily erase schmucks flooding A-site). Like what Banana Man says, who do you remove then? Sunset and Icebox are the wildcards in terms of agent diversity and Bind has the best argument for replacing a meta agent with a Deadlock (yeah, despite the Skye nerfs).
hooj I'm back to val and started learning raze and am using you as a big example, thanks for the vods!!
Deadlock could be interesting to use to Hault/ slow rotations with line ups for her barrier
halt*
this is something I do on split as a lurker, slows/ stops rotations through mid, dont even have to break the sage wall if you dont want to
I'm just thinking about how they could fix the sound sensor. Maybe they could rework it into a sort of windup trip that pops after an initial startup following a detection. To make it so that its not too easy to shoot off rip, it could be made to fade into view as it winds up sort of like an enemy cypher trip when you get close. The wind up would accommodate for the large stun radius and make it relatively fair to play against. Other than that, the sound sensor is not really useable as it fails at providing passive info, which is what sentinels are designed to do.
the stall/slow for rotate sounds really interesting, and I wish trading locking down flank routes for actual stall capabilities was a worth thing, so far the only good places would be bind, and maybe fracture, which are both dominated by another, way better fit sentinel, being kj on bind, and cypher for fracture
Guys funny lil glitchy thing that happened to me today; if you ult as KAYO and are taken into ISO ult, and he kills you, ISO is stuck in the ult world and can't diffuse HAHA
I think deadlock could be pretty nutty in a lot of trap plays, and since people aren’t expecting the traps from her (simply bc they haven’t seen it) it makes it even better. We gotta see someone like raze on the same team as deadlock one of these games, or like a gekko molly thrown at the same time/place as the net. Anything goofy like that lol
reminds me of the Ascent Sage comp Knights used to run where the Sage plays the same role as the Deadlock
Legends say that Kaiser is still waiting for his vod review
I did an agent roulette once where I played Deadlock-Cypher double sentinel on Sunset. On Attack, I thought they have to contest Cypher trips for flank anyways, so just put sound sensors alongside Cypher trips. That way, we get info on their flank 100% cuz they cannot counter that without giving us info.
On Defence, well, she's a beast all on her own.
Deadlock is a sentinel like sage is. Not for flank but is useful in her own way. She is a great anti-flood agent and is used for very aggressive teams. In fact, I'll use her only in the next act in a deadlock to gold arc. Thats a promise. A regretful promise, but still a promise.
you could place sensors on site instead cuz attackers wont be focused on them and its a pretty huge radius so 2-3 people might get caught itn it then easy retake
One tech i found out is walling very shallow so they need to actually peak to destroy it. You should place it in a way that makes 2 small branches setup so they cant destroy it. Imagine "|" being ascent B main entrance, on the left from the "|" is site. X| . in this cofinguration they need ti peak really wide to destroy it, being vulnerable from 3 positions.
the points you were making about power creep towards the end were revealed by the original viper buffs. nobody was playing her so they buffed the shit out of her. then people realized she was insanely broken and even very strong before the buffs. she’ll soon be nerfed to even lower than she was originally and she’ll still see plenty of play because people understand her value now.
viper only has merit now because the map pool has changed significantly. before it was bind ascent haven icebox or something, and viper was only considered viable on icebox when it came out. she never saw major pro play until her buffs, which made her wall actually have a penalty. instead of losing 2 hp for walking through a wall you lose 30 right away, and her smokes were further strengthened.
correction it was 50 at first which i think was perfect 30 makes her in line with other controllers influence though
@@ReyaadGafur it was breeze ascent fracture icebox split haven and bind. the ONLY map there that she hasn’t seen a ton of play on is ascent and she still has been played there multiple times. back when she got her first buff she wasn’t being played on any of them iirc. teams started slowly trying her on all the other 6 maps but it took them a while. you could also reduce the penalty of the instant decay to 10 and she would still be extremely strong. that has nothing to do with why she’s so strong.
@@ReyaadGafur how can you possibly say at 30 she’s in line with other controllers influence she is easily the strongest right now
Maybe it should have a walk proximity, like half the sensor sight is susceptible to walking, but the full range is sound only.
deadlock is good as she stands, but should have two changes, 1: switch wall and gravnet, since wall doesn't recharge, and 2: make sonic sensors, A: rearm, B manually detonate, or C: "sensitvity range"
When the deadlock pro vods finally start surfacing i can finally play another sentinel other than cypher
just learn kj
Thinking Man’s Valorant made a great video on deadlock’s utility here, and i’m not gonna lie, i dont think we gave her util capabilities enough credit (minus sonic sensor because of its restrictions over other util) and i think its becoming like a harbor situation where you were “throwing” if you picked him, but now he’s somewhat part of the meta and his abilities have shifted up some pro play. i think if teams can fully adapt to her odd yet unique kit, she could definitely find use
I never thought I’d see the day
I watched the whole vod there were 2 times where the trip went off, that were pretty good uses. Sad u didnt get to see. Also a funny deadlock clip at the end of the match.
i still think her sound sensors should second as a motion detection trip where it will alert DL if anything is inside its range but still only trigger when noise is made. it completes her as a solo sentinel
when i saw her buffs where her net got buffed i was annoyed since that was already good as it is, the duration buff was good but now its overtuned with size and all
“The sonic sensor is useless” *immediately gets buffed
The sound sensor at 19 min could be for a jett updraft over the roof
as a deadlock one trick, the title of this video caught my attention and im surprised by it
Hi woohoojin i am new in game i wanna improve my aim how should i this is my 1st fps pc game i used to play zombie games before suggest me your best vod for aim and cypher agent
Woohoojin when are you dropping deadlock guide
What song is at the beginning of the video? I assume it's streambeats but I can't find it.
While the info from trips is strong, I don’t like how much people rely on sentinels to watch their flanks. I’ve been playing Counterstrike for years and you don’t have trip and info gathering abilities to watch your ass.
I love deadlock because she can single handedly fuck up so much of the movement and positioning players rely on. Even on attack, while not so useful on entry, I think her abilities on holding plant are unmatched.
She needs to play around her ability, her entire kit is about forcing people to run into her utility and then fucking them dry.
Gravnet lineups aren’t the only thing is deadlock mains got sick ult lineups to 😎
I remember first playing Val just as she came out and thinking she was completely broken lol. I got killed so many times by her ultimate because my tm8s would never break it! I also would just rush head on into her traps and wonder why I died😂
Deadlock sound sensor could prevent an Omen TP lurk thru her wall
We don’t like Deadlock players but we love tech 😂
I can't believe my man just said "you're not coming up with this" to something rather simple. I don't main deadlock, but I did go on a little spree last week and came up with a bunch of sick combo's like that. often with flash agents.
I'm obviously no pro whatsoever, but if you main an agent I'm sure many people could come up with viable strats
I love covering flanks with sentinels :( I hope that doesn't change
If people say that the sensor is garbage, why hasn't riot giving it a buff like being able to be rearmed or stuns faster?
If you shoot one of the deadlock sensors.. the other one will trigger. Also.. it's likely for the jett dash out to switch. Maybe attackers kill one of them not the other thinking it's safe for jett dash. IT'S HELLA HELLA situational lol
They need to make deadlock able to watch flank better, sound sensor need a buff or rework
If Deadlock saves cash by not buying sound sensor she can be dedicated odin buyer for Sova?
I feel like theres a lot of pro teans that dont get orb when they have control and they arent in a rush. I've heard that critique a lot
ninjas in pyjamas straight ballin in CN lol /s
I’m glad deadlock is getting recognition and I’m glad the banana man reviewed this game :)
14:34 just like PRX pulling out yoru the first time on bind
The sound pick up range should be larger the stun radius can remain the same but we need infooooo
12:32 the iron buddy is based
Common Woohoojin W
Wazzap this magma from banana club!
I know it's far from pro, but I've gotten somewhat consistent value on sites B and C on lotus in diamond with the sound sensors. It's also usually useful on post plants I do not care what the funny talking banana says.
That trade protection set up is actually so good for solo queue, you can definitely play for yourself with that. Banana man is correct though, without these pros showing us how much they studied this Agent, Deadlock can only be considered giga SH*T.
But with the things we saw right now, there's a direction to study.
|Meh, goodbye ascendant hello Plat.
Deadlock is coming.
I love Deadlock man
Day 272 of thanking and appreciating Woohoojin for his educational and informative valorant content.
Your merit can suck my 65% deadlock winrate in Asc 3/Imm1. Her sound sensor accrues so much value when used correctly that I think Wooj would end up dying from shock.
LETS GO
I played deadlock in my iron 2 games and she’s goated because no one crouch walks lmao
Ok ok, hear me out: Gravnet + recon + sova ult combo on a thin choke
Hear me out, maybe not “anti-rush” but she makes teams respect pace and forces recon util into each site.
Real
if they buff the sensors she's fully viable
17:00 Just wondering, does "Agents that can't play off angles" mean agents without instant escapes? Just wanted to make sure I'm thinking of the same thing
Jett, Reyna, Chamber yes. They can all play these one and done angles and get one and get out for free so it's really scary to play against them and Deadlock can now create a pseudo effect similar making these agents in off angles untradeable >:)
Reyna is way too risky@@foxpupmal
sideshow watched the next vid they played and lost (against ASE) and said similar things, that it could be played better with kayo and relies on too many gimmicks which could be avoided
Suygetsus been playing some dl recently
Anyone ever study Asuna's gekko on haven as well as find as many lineups as possible for kayo, killjoy and kayo (cause they all the same) only for riot to remove the map in the pool that is closest to "perfect"? No? Just me? Ok
I swear the champion is good I’m at 460 rr immo 3 and I have a 65% wr in ranked in like 50 games
I play DL a bit and IMO she is JUST map specific, you have to know where audio queues are happening, how to make them happen safely, and know how to play around them without trolling the whole time, Bind, and Lotus are by far my favorite DL picks, granted things can change with time but I definitely cant be playing her on ascent or haven.
居然在蕉练这里看的是中文推流,好奇特的感觉
I disagree that Pro play is the be all end all for all strategies in the game. I think there is a lot more strategies and character that are viable than pros will play. However, if you want to be that guy, and pros haven't put in the prep work for you; you have to put in the prep work yourself.
The only reason that deadlock is bad is because in the current meta you MUST have something to watch in every game but, with enough prep as you said it can be pulled off and made relatively viable.
hear me out... dasnerth vod review!!! (i wanna cypher judge pleas-)
"none of you are coming up with that, pros are coming up with that"
uhhhh, hate to break it to you, but i'm I/B and strats like that pop up all the time. hell, i personally had a similar strat as KJ with cypher. you give "pros" WAY to much credit
High level players realizing what we, the silver legion realized long ago
People really need to stop sleeping on DL. She has great combos, and is actually pretty effective on corners and flank. You just have to be a bit more creative. I love playing her, always makes me sad to hear all the hate on that agent. Looking forward to the buff, maybe people will start to see her value more.
chinese casters go hard
drg destroyed these guys... then won the entire tournament
Nuh uh
58 seconds ago? lets goooooo
I keep on arguing with people about that. WHY does a sentinel have to have a flank util? Why does every sentinel have to perform the same function? People are legit wanting sage to have flank. The amount of braindead in diamonds and plats is just 💩
Yoooooo
first lor boy
All this proved to me was that her Trip is useless 80 percent of the time. The nade requires insane percision and luck to make it work. Cypher KJ Chambet etc all are simply better
Most analysis I've seen about this Deadlock are mainly fascinated by her wall's line up from A main and lands on the gate between cat and garden which can therefore some certain rotating route, and the molly line up are considered as a combo with that wall to clean cat or sth to clean a large range of site combined with omen flash. Some of these analysis mentioned other walls like walling market when it's B rush or a wall dividing CT and market after controlling the whole B site, but all of them just ignored some detailed techs like highly required teamwork, holding B with a Sheriff Sova or sensor+camera thing which can barely seen except for hooj's 🥲So appreciate ur brilliant and educational valo analysis which have been always splendid and interesting to watch(even if I can't really apply all of them into my gaming lol😌),and we are all looking forward to Deadlock's potential
