- Welcome back for another Game of Thrones and A Song of Ice and Fire video. In this video, I will explain what Game of Thrones didn't tell you about Jon Snow's death scene in the books. What actually happened when Jon Snow was betrayed by his own men of the Night's Watch? Who wrote the Pink Letter? Will Melisandre resurrect Jon Snow? What will happen to Jon Snow's direwolf, Ghost? Will we see Jon Snow in the Winds of Winter? Check out the video to find out what happened. Thanks for watching!

Omg I loved this video.. I've never read the books so this is really fun and interesting for me!!!! Please do more like it!!!!!!!
I really recommend reading them - they're a great read!
Yes, even the audiobooks are amazing & as easy as listening to these! Worth the free trial!
I have all of the books that are out. And i am an avid reader but i have a hard time reading them and keeping things in order. It might be that i got them 3 years ago after seeing most of the series on HBO. So i am happy that you're doing the chapter by chapter video's helps me see things in a different light and makes me want to try reading them again. Thanks for the video you do a great job at it and tell Tasha i said hi and i am glad her channel is growing its almost doubled in member since i joined and she has you to thank for that and i cant wait until you do your collab video with her.
@@arharis6007 For me it‘s exactly the same situation!

Another interesting thing is that Alliser Thorne wasn’t even involved in the books. He’s still out on a ranging under he command of Dywen the old forester.
“I see you as a man then a wolf and a man again.” Melisandre to Jon.
Yes this quote was foreshadowing for sure
Oh
Jon's death was the most memorable in all the five books, the way how Martin describes it's amazing
Was it as memorable as Robb's death?
@@aryanically Better, yes. More memorable, no. Less shocking, definitely
Melisandre wrote the letter to make Jon move away from Castle Black, she told him to be carefully and to have Ghost always near. Only she knew about Mance.
Why not!
That’s an interesting theory hadn’t considered Melisandre
Melisandre, I hadn’t thought of that. That makes sense.
Or Mance Rayder. Melisandre doesn't know who Reek is.
Makes so much sense!
“Talking Thrones” is low-key getting some more folks out there into reading (myself, included, haha)! Strong work!
I started to read the books after the Last season ended and Mr Talking Thrones started to relate every chapter...
Best decision ever!
What do you think is the deal with the 'real' Aegon?
I got all the books for £30 in a closing down sale in a bookshop. Total bargain
@@miguelportillo5421 in what order are you reading them?

@@made-line7627 Of course my child
The greatest story ever. I never get tired of it
Oh my sweet summer child, is that the sort of tale you wish to hear?
Olly was never a character in the book, but in the show he gives the “kill shot” to Jon Snow. I’ve read that D&D made him a major character because of how he emoted: guess he gave a good stank face.
In the books I believe the boy that stabs him last is satin, the prostitute boy that became jons steward
D&D didn't want to touch the topic of prostitute 13 year old boy so they invented Olly
@@Thomk121 no, he didn't
Lol. If you bothered to watch the whole video, he reads that passage starting at 13:27
Satin is not mentioned as one of the conspirators who stab Jon.
The young actor playing Ollie was AWESOME. But Idk why he was introduced at all. Maybe it WAS for the emoting cause he did a great job at just looking at Jon silently in sheer spite and disgust before he was hanged. Yep, one can never have enough child murders on the show...
Now I am gonna read the books. Seems like Jon Snow of books is even better.
Jon Books is way better than Jon Show. For starters he is not younger and dumber version of Ned Stark. He is political and in certain moments displays even anger outbursts akin to his real father's family.
The character on the show has frankly nothing to do with the character in the books. Jon Snow of the books is actually complex, thoughtful, interesting, and unlike his show counterpart behaves with logic and compassion, for the most part.
@@isaacgraham5727 Remember when he grabbed Thorne by his neck when he and Slynt were trying to bully him
By far my favorite video so far. Jon's story is vastly more interesting in the story. Kit did a great job on GOT. I wish he got the true Jon Snow story line. PLEASE keep them coming
Yes, Mel telling Jon to keep Ghost close is important as I think that when Jon is murdered he will warg into Ghost
That little finger quote is the best quote of all GoT
He died only because he wanted to save his sister and the wildlings...
Jon is like Ned and Rhaegar. They were both killed by trying to do the "right thing".
@@ladydiamond6261 I’m not sure if Rhaegar was doing the right thing or not, he’s very mysterious we don’t know enough to come to that conclusion
@@jasonfawcett8671 I thought so too. Maybe he thought he was doing the right thing to do by winning the war.
@@jasonfawcett8671 If Rhaegar actually did the right thing or not in the grand scheme of things, we do not know, but he definitely thought he was doing the right thing. It's pretty much the same with Ned, whatever he did, he though he was doing good, but some of the consequences of his actions are arguably negative. Jon couldn't be different, as he was conceived and raised by people who deeply believed in their own moral code.
@@Kanikanihia Exactly. I could be wrong but I feel like Jon is kinda Naive and that's what got him killed.
Jon made the same mistake as his father and Uncle.
And his brother, Rob.
@@victoriawhite3662 I mean, Rob chose to forsake his (and thus his family names) word in favor of a pretty face. Not exactly living up to his fathers example. (unless I'm mixing show and books again... hard for me to remember the differences)

You motivated me to read the books and now I believe reading the books was one of a life time experience and I was missing out on it until convinced me otherwise. Your narration is too good.
Rob's wolf did the same thing Jon's wolf did before they died. It almost makes you think could these animals that have a bond with these people be able to see into the future. But it is more likely they can smell emotions on people and based on the emotions they can judge what is in their heart.
The direwolves are from the old gods. They were sent from the Children of the Forest and/or Bloodraven. They do have a sense for what's coming.
@@TalkingThrones That makes sense. And happy thanksgiving.
@@TalkingThrones It would've be cool if post-resurrection Jon has this power!
Im glad you are still doin the thrones videos. Im rewatchin for the 7th time and its nice to see new content. I really gotta start on the books!
Excellent job explaining and sorting the differences between the show and the book. You cleared a lot up for me. Many Thanks
I have severe PTSD due to this chapter! So depressing, after almost ten years we still don't know if Jon Snow will re-emerge. Keep your wolf close jon.
He better come back! Lol
He 100% comes back, we just don't know how. But we do know Jon has a bigger role to play. We were introduced to mel, resorrected beric and stoneheart, for a reason.
Martin's never going to finish those books. I haven't even read them het, and even I can tell he seems burnt out and wants to do other things, especially after the show ended. One can only hope he at least finishes his current book and that the rights are given to another author who can finish when Martin eventually passes.
@@Tyler_W the demon satan that helped martin write these stories has left him. Martin was inspired by demons and he would need to do bigger satanic sacrifices to call them back.

You'd think Melisandre would know that it's the *worse* choice to let the Wildlings die and become extra soldiers of the Army of the Dead.
That's a good point.. She must know something we don't. 🤔
@@TalkingThrones True true...I hate that Bowen Marsh just doesn't get it (that it's worse to let the Wildlings die and come back as Wights), though Melisandre *could* know something else, I suppose!
Why did I feel sad at the end, like I didn't already know what was gonna happen 😔
Thanks for another great refresher📖
The death of John Snow was the most devastating moment in television history. The Earth stopped turning
Said NO ONE EVER
I love Game of Thrones but your videos taught me to love the Story. A Song of Ice and Fire.
I think she asked about Ghost to KEEP HIM AWAY. If Ghost had died with Jon he wouldn't have been able to send his life force into the pup. She wanted to keep Ghost safe to ensure his return.
No. She said to keep him at his side at all times, a dire wolf is safer outside than in a cage, hence Robb and his wolf. The only reason it died was because Robb warged into it while it was in a cage
Beautifully read... Thank you! 💖💕💖
I really like that all of your videos end in 5 or 0 man that’s real attention to detail
I finished "A Dance of Dragons," (epilogue) this morning. You are so right! This POV was so different from the books. I wish he listened to Melissandre. Jon had kept Ghost in his quarters because of the Wildling worg's enormous boar. Once He told everyone in the meeting that evening. Ghost was acting so weird. When he read the Rameses' letter to the men, his black brothers on the wall were so upset. No one knew of the glamour Mellisandre had cast on the willing that took Max Raider's place. And yes, I agree that they will put Jon in the ice cell and he will embody Ghost. I hope Jon is resurrected in the 'Winds Of Winter.'
I think he will be resurrected near the end of the book, right around the time the White Walkers invade/breach the Wall.
@@TalkingThrones This is one idea, but I think we will get a Battle of the Bastards 2.0! (but without Stannis dying, of course, but if he dies, at least make it decent)
The Forsaken chapter gives me SO MUCH HOPE for TWOW!!
y?
Fabulous explanation! Loved it.
Thanks for this! Have a great Thanksgiving!
After watching a couple of your videos, I can't decide if I should finally read the books or just binge watch your videos.
Thinking it might be time to go back and re-read the books. It's been about 7 years and the show has drowned out some of the book canon in my brain.
Same here!! I'll have to look for my pdf versions.
Me too. I also need to reread to clear things up. I recently realized I was mixing the 2 together while talking about certain theories. My brother corrected me to my complete embarrasment. He has never read the books, only watched the show. So being corrected by him was shameful lol
@@Thomk121 Oh the horror! We can't be havin' that.
When I read this chapter, goosebumps, mad goosebumps!
Been a fan of the show for a long time, just ordered my set of all the books last night and I can't wait to read them!
That's where Jon really is. He's been laying face down in the snow bleeding out for over ten years now. He isn't living happily ever after beyond the Wall with the wildlings.
Well he isnt dead and gone forever either

Keep making these videos!🙂
Nicely done.

I love the Song of ice and fire, and your videos, the only thing that bothers me is that this reminds me that winds of winter hasnt been released yet
1:28 If I recall, this was Selyse specifically saying to even let the children die. I think this had deeper meaning.
Yeah she did. Maybe it foreshadows her own thoughts toward her daughter.
Then Bowen Marsh stood there before him, tears running down his cheeks. “For the Watch.” He punched Jon in the belly. When he pulled his hand away, the dagger stayed where he had buried it.
Loved & enjoyed this video as well also having not read the books.
I'm still pissed at the ending of game of thrones
I just can't get over that
I wonder if Shireen will be burned by Stannis in the books as well. Remember it is mentioned constantly in the books that only death can pay for life....so maybe Stannis burns her thinking it is a last resort to save his battle but instead it only works to revive Jon.
Either way I doubt Shireen will have a happy ending unfortunately.
Great Job Dan! I just realized something VERY important about Selyse Baratheon and her name! GRRM says, "1st, I must NAME the character to know who they are in the story". Selyse=Celice! A Celice is a belt, or garment (hair shirt from the Bible, spike belts etc) worn by ultra religious zealots and repentitents, designed to cause extreme pain, to mortify the flesh, etc! Selyse is a religious fanatic for the lord of light, and even burns her Florent Kinsman! I thought you might find that interesting.

This episode was sad. Thx for giving more context from the book.
Wow it has been so many years since that book came out and so many years since the series now that everything had blurred together in my mind. I had forgotten some of these details. It is time for a complete rereading of the books. Maybe by the time I have finished we will get another book?!? (Pls GRRM) Have you ever though of a chapter analysis starting from the beginning with preface & acknowledgments then individual chapters or a few chapters at a time? It would be so cool to get your book breakdowns in order. Once again great video TT. Warm wishes to you and Tasha, I like her, she rocks!
O.o omg you guys together are TT&T LOL
The epilogue of the book foreshadows the the end as it is about a dying man who happens to be a warg and jumps in and out of animals trying to find a suitable host to settle in. If I remember right he tried Snow but knew that someone else had a connection.
I think you mean the prologue! But I know what you’re talking about- that chapter was CRAZY!
This channel made me eager for the new books to be released
I hope these readings will interest more show watchers in the books. I have read them over and over. The audiobooks are great as well.

Let's Talk
Thanks for this, it is spot on!. Enjoyed it. I’m not sure I’m reading them the right way so I want to start again and binge read them. I’m your opinion - What’s the best order to read the books?
Even tho I knew it was coming when reading the books the moment still caught me by surprise and it was still such a gut punch with how George pulled that one off, damn I hope he releases the next one
The mini-series just released is so much better then expected! Just awesome!!!

Jon Snow woke up from death and had a weird dream that was rest of season 5 to season 8
Aren't you assuming that Jon and Stannis are on the same exact timeline?
Yep
@@TalkingThrones There was no way to tell whether Ramsay had defeated Stannis or not
You're making a big assumption based on zero evidence
@@brianvice1144 there's plenty of evidence. Just search. One I can remember off the top of my head is the fact that the letter sent to Jon didn't have flayed skin with it. Considering he notes in the letter to Jon that Stannis is dead and he flayed the 6 spearwives, the letter not being accompanied by flayed skin is odd.

Jon is coming back as The Night King 🔥🤯
And considering that familiar traveling runs in the family ie Bran, it makes sense that Jon could go into Ghost. What happened to Ghost when Jon came back?
Please make more Book chapter breakdowns
Snow’s murder reminded me of Julius Caesar’s death.
I like this version but the show version wasn’t too bad either. Not being a book reader, it had me in shock!
If watching D&D butcher seasons 5-8 doesn’t motivate you to pick up the books for the first time, nothing will
We need the books to come out 😩
"He never felt the fourth knife" could it be because he'd already warged into Ghost?
No, he wargs after he died. He never felt the fourth knife because instead he feels the cold from the snow as he falls face down into it
Lmao. He NEVER wargs into ghost.
@@TXbornTNpaid615 even wargs that have never warged in life are implied to warg into their wolves after death to begin their second life (too much “warging” 😂) anyways it’s just a theory
The only 2 people I could think that wrote the letter would be Ramsay or Mance.
So something I just remembered at 9:34 is I believe it’s Asha’s last chapter, (Yara in the books) She’s at Stannis’ camp and Theon gets brought to Stannis’ camp, along with Jeyne and the iron banker. If Ramsey had written that letter then he would have already had Theon and “Arya” aka jeyne back, (had his letter actually been real and his battle with Stannis actually happened). So Ramsey definitely did not write that letter. King Stannis Baratheon will take back Winterfell, aided by the iron bank with food men and supplies once the castle is taken. Next book is going to be awesome. Really hoping we get a Stannis pov.
I'll be forever pissed with George for not writing POVs for Robb, Robert, Tywin, Stannis and Young Griff!
