The US is a huge and diverse country. Everything you think about Americans is correct and and everything you think about Americans is wrong. We are kind, We are evil. There are simple and honest rural people as well as complex and sophisticated urban people. You can find everything you want to find. We are what the people of the world are because we come from all over the world. What is unique about us is a independent nature and a dream to be free and achieve all we desire. We are passionate and will fight for what we want. We are innovative and creative. We believe our rights come from our creator and not from government or man.

I don't understand why people have to complain about the individuals with the negative views on America. Don't get me wrong, it does kinda hurt me that they think that way about us, but it's their opinions and they were nice while expressing them. They didn't flat out say "Oh yeah, they're stupid". They explained their reasoning and stated that it was simply a stereotype.

I've been a U.S. citizen my entire life but am more worldly than most Americans. Because this country is so large and has a lot of variety, geographically, most Americans don't want to travel outside the country. Most never experience the stimulus of contact with other peoples and cultures, or need to learn a foreign language. The lack of interaction with other nations seems to breed apathy, lack of curiosity, and misperceptions of non-Americans among many natives here.

Different circumstances. Switzerland has a population of 8 million people, the US over 300 million and the most powerful country on Earth. We have 12 states more populous than Switzerland. The Swiss are insignificant on the world stage (other than helping corporations and elite avoid taxes), the rest of the world can make it's way down to Switzerland once it's read-up on the dozens of more important ones. Let's ask the Swiss what they think of California, Texas, New York, Florida, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Georgia, North Carolina, Michigan, New Jersey, and Virginia, all which have bigger populations. North Dakota, Alaska, and Wyoming have higher GDP per capita, yet the Swiss can't tell you anything about them.

Having lived in Europe if you called deployed living in Europe I found that most Europeans are standoffish toward Americans when you dress like a cowboy. If you just fit in and absorb the culture you will never have an issue. If you listened to the comments not one of the people interviewed had met an American or been to America so yes their understanding of America comes from school, news and social media with social media being the strongest influence. My observation is that people are people and try and get along with Europeans which isn't hard to do and you will find new friends...

YOUR government has put you americans through tough times, the americans need to wake up and see what ur government is doing, cuz one day the whole world will get mad at US and the sad thing is the american people who are innocent will pay for the mistakes of their government.. you americans should pay attention to your government and do something about it, stop believing its a "nation under god" cuz that makes the entire world laugh, in god's world there are no nations, but if US would be under some kind of religious power, then it would be under the masked devil and not god.. the point is, the american government is a wolf in sheep clothing and the american people are blindfolded. and about the stupidity, there are a lot people in US who are crazy, BUT i do admire the creativity and talent of some americans. i think america would be perfect with a diferent government who are not murders and power seeking lunatics... just remember the world is getting mad at USA, think your children and your future generations if you really want them to pay for what your government is doing outside your borders

The problem with these people's complaints is a common one: you go to a cosmopolitan European city and hear its affluent, educated residents describe rural, conservative America as if it's THE America. Granted, rural populations enjoy more political power under USA-style federalism than they do in many other countries, but you can be assured that the level of enlightenment you'll find in rural Ohio is comparable to that which you'll find in rural Italy or France (and greater than that in Spain, where I have personally encountered much vestigial Falangism).
Trump was mentioned early on and is a good stand-in for the larger issues. He lost the popular vote by millions. People who live in California or New York or Chicago -- people who voted overwhelmingly for Clinton -- are more like the interviewees above than they are like Trump voters in, say, Mobile Alabama. (And they often have very similar disdain for those Alabama Trumpers, a fact which did indeed figure into the bitter atmosphere that delivered the bumbling cretin enough rural and exurban votes to win an electoral college victory.)
It ought not to be forgotten that the American voter, for all her flaws, created and sustained the liberal postwar geopolitical order under which the West has prospered for half a century. Only now, at the edge of its undoing, might the American contribution to the modern world become obvious to the affable people of Zurich.

This video just shows how very different the United States and Switzerland and it all boils down to differences in culture. Switzerland is a 800 year old country; therefore, it has a very high context society in which every single aspect of daily living is scrutinized and matters. The United States, meanwhile, is a 240 year old country with a low context society in which as Americans we are far more relaxed about daily living and I think that is why a few of the Swiss people that were interviewed express such negative opinions about Americans because they just don't understand our more laid back culture. However, I will say that many of the people interviewed in this video did not sound like they knew what they were talking about and few sounded like they really know what is going on in America. Plus, I don't like the fact that they equate people who are voting for Trump as a mark of stupidity seeing as Hillary Clinton is a dumbbell as well. Also, why don't we talk about the Swiss in which I have very mixed opinions.
