I used to babysit for the family who were caretakers of the Jewish Cemetery in the 70's. Nice to see it again.
I'm born and bred in Annesley Place, 1970. Fantastic piece of film.
Cheers.
Hill16Dub. Glad you enjoyed it. My father who took these films lived on Richmond road in the 20s/30s
@@LorcanFilmUnit My Grandparents moved into 1 Annesley Place (part of what has been Graingers Pub, Berningham's, the Chaser etc) in 1935.
My Father was part of the original Kilmainham Gaol Restoration Society, and one of the first tour guides in the early '60s.
I've seen your films on the Restoration Workers. Your uploads are amazing , fantastic nostalgia.
Thanks for sharing them with us all👍🏻

Many years ago reading a periodical by John De Courcy historian /maritime writer one story was about a travaler in the 18th century being entertained in a big House by the owner, he noticed that the fire place contained stones with Hebrew writings vandalised from a Dublin Jewish grave yard they may have come from the Ballybough site or led to the creation of that grave yard?!I meant as a result of the descretion of an older site Ballybough graveyard came into being. My family from clonliffe avenue dad still alive avid local history man he is the last of 14 children went to local schools I Canices and O Connells where got to love all aspects of history including again local!
Those red canons used to be on display on a plinth near Collins Barracks across the road from Heuston Station. They were Russian guns taken during the Crimean War in the 19th Century.
Brilliant thanks my grandfather Seagrave lived there
The last ten seconds is up around Bemburb Street, Collins Barracks, the Cropy Ark. How it has changed, for the better. I lived there back in the day. Red light district back in the
day.The ladies were the nicest people you could meet. Generous to a fault. My mum had a shop in the street back in the 70s 80s. I could tell you stories but I'd have to leave the country then., ☘️🇮🇪
My da always called it the croppies acre ?
I think the children were filmed in the sixties. I am amazed that people live there and don't know the cemetery. Thanks for sharing
Margaret Harold thanks Margaret for your comment. That's myself 'fishing' in the tolka so I'd say it could be 59/60
