I wasn’t expecting this to be like unicorn overlord and so I’m not falling into the trap of comparing the two. If this plays similar to suikoden 2 then I’ll be satisfied.
It plays similar for sure. It's a very fun experience even if it's not flawless.

I could understand if it was a balance thing where healing cost money or something but beyond it being unintuitive it also doesn't heal everyone when using the free inn at base leading me to think it's an oversight

As they are self-imposed, they don't seem like a big deal.

I have only played with the constraints. Like I said I find it a positive but because you can't turn them off later it could lead you to a spot where you need to start a new save potentially.
Yeah, bro was really like "so I enabled all of the ball breaking hard mode shit, and I have to say- this game is mid because it's a bit too hard"
@@scottgmccalla I play all rpgs with all difficulties maxed. This one is one of the hardest in the early game ive ever played. Unicorn overlord and yakuza were jokes compared to this. This is closer to DQ11 all draconian quests but with the ability to accidentally softlock your save if played badly.
Like I said in the video I consider the difficulty a positive but others should be aware as you are unable to lower the difficulty once started and no one wants to get 10 hours into the game and feel the need to start over.
Gotcha. No disrespect meant. I enjoy your videos and have gotten some great strategies from them for OPT2.
Compared to No man's sky launch day bugs this is playable on PC. 😂🎉🎉
SP is probably like stamina, so the random roll is very realistic. Some days, you feel ready to run a marathon, some days you're lucky to get out of bed without a yawn.
Feels so sad the creator finally made a successor to suikoden and then died shortly before its release, I can't help but think about that every time I think about this game
Yeah after platinum UO and filling my SRPG itch, i will be passing on this. Will waiy to review several other reviews to maybe picking it up later on on. Sale or something.
I totally agree. Eiyuden Chronicles Hundred Heroes was my most anticipated game of 2024, but after Unicorn Overlord (currently on my 3rd playthrough), EC has some big shoes to fill.

I'll probably pick up a copy of this at some point but it also seems like they tried a bit too hard to pay homage to old school JRPGs. Still looks pretty interesting though.

So, it seems like the kind of game which DEMANDS the player's patience. That's a bright and big red flag for me. A shame, the game really appeared like something to look forward to.

It's a great game overall it's just a slow start I think. The combat has some weird rng elements I don't love but overall I'm super happy with it.
All the complaints sound like all the features that were in Suikoden I and II. For me the "old school" lack of quality of life is part of the nostalgia from playing the Suikoden series in the 90's.
Hearing the mids was enough to turn me off. This was always on the fence but was hoping this could introduce me to the suikoden style. Still might play one day but too much I’d rather play. Thanks for the video purp
Just get the Suikoden 1+2 remake when it comes out. It's my fav RPG series and those are the best!

Hmm. I can already tell I would probably like this less than Unicorn Overlord (I bloody hate it when the game tries to hide info from me or even actively prevent me from devising the optimal strategy, it serves zero fucking purpose except to frustrate the player) but they're fundamentally different games so it's probably wrong to judge them side by side.
What's crazy to me is that while you are doing this review, on the main screen there is a cat running across the room and either turning invisible or warping through the wall over and over! WTF!
UO has the same settings etc. pause menu lol I don't know why that screams indy to you lol. Game looks good thanks for sharing! I'd imagine a lot of us will get it 'free' on gamepass as well so :) your not so special lol
it doesn't have the same menu when you pause it. a banner comes down and all the options appear on the banner. Its not persona 5 level of style but its much more than the gray box you get when you pause in Eiyuden.
Oh for sure most will get on gamepass I dont think im special for getting the game. It was a week before release I got the game and I am under embargo so I just wanted to make sure I disclose that.

Not so excited with this game anymore. I also prefer the art style of unicorn overlord.
In all fairness, it's going to be difficult not to compare any JRPG with UO from here on out. The game just sets a whole new standard for JRPG and SRPG. I place it on the same pedestal as Balder's Gate 3.
@@rosepotjes420 agreed. Its my early 2024 GOTY. its up there with other classics like triangle strategy, tactics ogre reborn, fire emblem 3 houses, final fantasy tactics and front mission 3.

@@noneya237 because the content creator did. Its also an easy comp to make as eiyuden was billed to have srpg components (war mode) and UO clearly has alot of jrpg influences. Eiyuden also came out after UO.
So no people havent lost their minds. You have to start asking yourself why so many people are making that comp and you think people are losing their minds making that comp. Maybe its not people. Maybe its you.
@@TheRobversion1 we will agree to disagree I not played game nor know anything about game. I’m going in blind this is turn based rpg if it has small section where there strategy doesn’t make it comparison to unicorn overlord that game is not turn based it’s auto battler.
I will judge game myself at midnite. I know nothing on game completely blind thanks for spoiling feature lol
My complaint is the exploration. I need to check every corner and talk to everyone. But 90% of the explorable map isnt even worth exploring, THERES NOTHING THERE! And only 5% of NPCs are worth talking to. Now ive only played for 2 hours so it could change but man! Kinda unfulfilling
you are correct. the overworld is just visuals basically. Nothing to find. Maybe there are some hidden areas I missed but overall exploration was not an aspect of this game imo. Other than revisiting towns to find recruits
This is retro style jrpg. Yet fools expect it have modern jrpg settings. If it had modern settings it wouldn’t be retro style. The developer just died we’re ready to crucify his last creation. All because it jrpg doesn’t look like today’s time.
He created new Suikoden where suikoden 3 left off. He didn’t want follow tropes of octopath traveler he wanted make something that evokes first 2-3 suikodens.
This world is full of momos we want retro styled jrpg. People begged for new suikoden for years I waited decades for this decades I not even played it I know it easy 9 out of 10 game.
I know what game is supposed be we got bunch of hosers on internet who doesn’t. Retro rpgs in days didn’t have quality of life stuff like new stuff he have now. Get over it. You should done your homework.
