- Barren ground caribou hunting in Alaska with Billy Molls.
From the Modern Day Mountain Man film series:
It's said life is a collection of experiences and intersections with people. The adversities, failures, conquests, and the people we experience them with are the fabric of our memories, and the very underpinning of the person we become.
Every year sportsmen from around the world migrate to the Alaskan wilderness. Why? What are they seeking? Once there, what do they find?
For many, the testing of one's endurance while pursuing a trophy Dall ram, or glassing herds of caribou in search of a white-haired bull with heavy, sweeping antlers lures them to the Last Frontier. For others, it's a magazine image they saw as a child of a giant bull moose with a dinner table-sized rack standing in a still, mirror pond with regal, snowcapped mountains towering above in the distance. Some hunters long for a measure of danger; their desire is to experience bear country, and discover how they will react in it.
As a boy, Billy Molls dreamed of living the life of a mountain man. Three decades later, if only for a few months each year, he does just that. This documentary offers candid insight into his journey, his time-honored perspective of conservation, the refinement of his worldview, and the experiences he shares with six hunters from various walks of life. Join Billy and his clients on four unforgettable Alaskan hunting adventures.

I'd rather watch Billy Molls' hunting adventures over football any day! Thank you for sharing.
Absolutely 👊!!!
Definitely. Don’t even watch football anymore
Agree 100 percent.
yep!
Forsure buddy 👍
Absolutely one of our best story tellers. He tugs at our desires to wander with him on adventures in the Alaska wilderness. DON’T CALL ME, I’m with Billy for the next 1 hour plus. Lost in the wilds of ALASKA
Definitely gotta turn on that “Do Not Disturb”
Man we need more of these classic Billy Molls Adventures!
Billy has the best CZcams channel. Nobody can educate and entertain like him.
Almost fifty years ago my opportunity to come hunt Alaskan moose lay before me . Twenty years old and I had a yearning to go All things set and I chose a path not in God's will for me and almost as fast as my dream to hunt in Alaska was right in front of me , it vanished never to present it self again .I have watched all your videos and they have given me inspiration and joy . Each time I live my yearning for adventure through you . I thank you from the bottom of my heart . I give thanks to my Lord and savior Jesus Christ for my life and family and putting you in my life . May God bless and keep you and yours .
I usually don't like long hunting videos......but with yours the longer the better! You are a great story teller and I appreciate your content. Hope to maybe hunt with you one day.
The best without a doubt 💯 👌
Amen to that!
Another great hour plus spent with Billy,,Also Glad to see John Anderson make an appearance, will never forget the bear hunt where John put himself in harms way. Please continue to release these stories here...
Glad to see you out Billy. Best Tour guide there are.
The man, the myth, the legend!! Thank you, and god bless
“Besides that incident” 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I reckon keepin the bolt up is a better option! Let him use it the way he always does….
I would love if you’d incorporate a short segment per hunter re: rifle specs, caliber, reasoning…
I enjoy that kind of info…
The MDMM channel is one of the best outdoor adventures video producers on social media. A good man with a love of the great outdoors and the good Lord in his heart. Thanks again Billy M for sharing your trips, messages and faith for us all to enjoy and learn from. Good hunting and Gods blessings to the family, customers and fans of the MDMM 🏆🎥💯👍💪🏽🙏🏻
That’s so beautiful. I hope someday I can find my way out there
No way in hell I can go at 72 but over the years I've had my dreams. I thank God for that. Godspeed Billy!
Happy to watch your adventures always. Thank you 😊
Keeps my heart pounding even at 67 just finished moose hunt in the bush
Glad to see your back!
Billy I really enjoy your videos they remind me of my Flying Days in Bristol Bay. One flight I remember most between Lake Clark and Kulik Lake in the mid 90’s the Mulchatna Caribou herd was move toward jack Rabbit hills. For almost 35 miles below my flight path and at least 4 miles wide all I could se was Caribou moving like ants it was amazing like something from a African movie.
In 1970 I came to this wonderful land and have flown all the years it is has always never gotten old Billy thank you for the new Adventure.
Love the hunting videos
Living the Dream of many Country Boys. Good luck this season!.
Thanks for taking us on your hunt!! God is good!
After watching your wonderful videos I sit back and memories of past hunts flood my mind. I've been blessed to have been on many great hunts from groundhogs to Bison and most in between. At 66 I still get out to hunt, was out after whitetail deer yesterday, but I can't push it like I once had done. Still I love to get out in the woods with a rifle in my hands and gather more memories. When it's all said and done, memories are the stuff of which our lives are made. Thanks Billy.
Live in Alaska since I was 8 Grow up on the nhomestead and looking at 70 now. I have done a lot of hunting here we always got the family moose and caribou. Still go for moose. Thanks Billy 👍👍
I’d love your perspective of the changes in Alaska….here in the PNW we are ruined by an influx of out of stater’s….it’s sickening!
That is without a doubt, the most amazing countryside, with the animals coming right up and greeting y'all.
Thanks for sharing with us, what some of us will only be able to dream about and enjoy thru your lens.
Another great show. It's good to get lost in the wilderness for a while. Well done mate 👍🇦🇺
Absolute on off hunt Billy.............You'll never get two quiet Ozzies again !!
Awesome video and story telling once again! Thank you very much for sharing Billy Molls.
Billy molls is one heck of a story teller, and gets right to the heart of hunting, and why we do it.
Thanks for the video
Nice video Billy. John made an appearance, never realized how big caribou feet were. Matt's aversion to the camera is admirable.
Didn't even watch it yet. Stoked. Can't wait to get home
Thank you so much! Your comment about change and always moving forward was just what I needed to hear. Thank you as well for the awesome hunt!
Now John Anderson that is the real mountain man.
Always entertaining footage and makes me dream of someday heading north to Alaska again.
Billy your shows and videos are wonderful no doubt you are the greatest but with some of the clients u get you show and amount of patience I never could muster. Especially in this video. Keep up the great work. May God continue to bless you and yours
Ben longing for another fabulous video. Godspeed.
hey billy, enjoy your vids bud, i guided in the bob in montana and i know as ya get my age you`ll remember almost daily what ya did. i always wanted to hunt the clickers but the price was just too high for a single dad with custody of his kids, 1 being mentally and physically handy capped. now bein older i didnt get to work like normal people cause i committed to my kids, but wouldnt change it. i`m happy for ya do be able to do what ya do and give to those that come to ya, even if they are privileged rich :) . hope it lasts forever for ya sir, blue skies and good winds, thanks for letting me relive. :)
Billy provides a good hunt and is enjoyable to watch. As far as football goes I use to never miss a game even if it wasn't my team, now I'd rather watch paint dry.
NICE - I’ve been waiting for another Billy Molls hunt posting!! Of all the places and vacations that I’d like to take, I would pick a sheep hunt with Billy Molls over all of them. Note: I haven’t had a vacation in over 10 years, I just can’t afford it. - Jason/Freedom Fighter Until Death/Vermont, DSA (‘DSA’, meaning “The Divided States Of America”)
Your not handling your money right.
Do you know me personally, and was I attacking anyone in my original comment? I’m sure that you’re a brainwashed sheep who lives a miserable existence. You’re not handling ‘yourself’ right. I hope you do some work on yourself, it sounds to me as if you need to. Be well fellow human, and treat others how you like to be treated. Haven’t you learned anything from Billy’s videos? They’re not completely about hunting you know. - Jason/Freedom Fighter Until Death/Vermont, DSA (‘DSA’, unfortunately meaning “The Divided States Of America”)
The mosquito is the Alaskan State Bird!
Thanks for taking me back 40 years.
I’ll take this over anything on TV
it was late fall of 1991, my pa took me out during the first snow fall on the western side of the Brooks Range, this was about 4 miles from our camp. we had heard the herd was moving thru below the mountain side just below the treelines. we found a spot in some brush and a small island of trees. the snowflakes were huge and thick, making it somewhat silent as the snow muffled the elements of noise. we waited for about a good half hour. suddenly we began hearing the grunts and snorts of the tuttu protruding thru the thicket. my pa hands me a 218 Bee lever rifle and whispers to me, "go ahead and pick one" as he counted down to fire, 3, 2, 1. we had to stand up to let the tuttu know where we were because there was so many. as we went to retrieve our catch, we looked towards the west along the coastline, far as your eye can see was the herd of caribou. 30 years later, I'm now 35, I haven't seen that unknown number ever again. I'm glad you fellas had a good hunt. stay safe wherever you be. cheers 🙏👊
Great to see you back
Very inspirational, thanks Billy!

I hope to see Billy take his children hunting one day.
You’re the best Billy….
Always the best awesome 👌
Glad to see John in another video. When is he going to start a CZcams channel.
HOLY if that one bull at 25:13 had been even on both sides, without that weird undersized antler on his left, he'd have been an absolute beauty. Huge shovel, huge tops on his right side.
Would be great if you could do an episode on best choices for rifles for the hunting you and your clients are doing? Scopes etc?
Thank you very much for the input/idea! We will do that soon!
@@moderndaymountainman8130 Yes please do a video on that! Very interested to hear your opinions on rifles for Alaska!
The engineer in me loves watching that landing gear. and the lift-off in less than 50' down hill.
300yd shot in the wind. fella has to know his bullet behavior.
Thanks
Good luck Matt hope u get a nice bull too. . Congratulations
Rom. 12:2 ... amen to that brother.
Congratulations on your bull first hunter. The second closer herd has a cow with a cooler on her neck . Good luck second hunter.
I’d love to hunt with you some day Billy! I hear you make a mean cup of coffee if it’s not forgotten at base camp!
I think Billy was having to much fun on this one. LMAO
Best to camp with a portable electric bear fence. 2.4 lbs to pack for huge peace of mind.
Hold on to your hat Billy! It's a lil breezy out there
This might be a dumb questions or answered later in the video but what is around that caribous neck at 25:58 ??
To our understanding these are satellite collars used by the Fish and Game to track movements of the herd.
@@moderndaymountainman8130 Cool thats what I figured just never knew they did it way out there. Thanks for the Reply!
I thought you couldn't hunt the same day you fly.
No? Oh, unless I guess you flew in one day to hunt the next.
It makes sense to me now.
That is my dream!!!
when i hunt Caribou i do it on horseback with a lasso. My horse runs them down like nothing.
I catch a dozen or so a yr but i don't kill all of them.. I harvest milk and Turds from them. I drink the milk and use the turds for pellets for my pellet stove..
I want to know why he hasn't got his stuff on the outdoor channel? I honestly believe and go over good on there cuz I watch each video a couple times over.
That was some cool scenery. What caliber rifles were your clients using, and what are you carrying, your smoke stick?
Great stuff. How do you get the antlers home? Are they strapped to the outside of that little plane?
John Anderson was lost at sea in 2014
Have u ever heard of a guide up there Named Spencer Linderman he was killed up there in a plane crash yrs ago but his family was friends of ours! I think he use 2 write articles 4 Boys Life or some magazine like that! He was a good ol Kansas boy
Wow is it mosquitoe like that they're everywhere.
At different times of the year, yes they are THICK. They are commonly referred to as the Alaskan state bird!
Should look into a eliminator scope
That bolt thing... how about 👎 no 👎
Can you please let us know what caliber guns and possibly the yardage on shots.
The method Aussies and Kiwis use of not using their safety catches and instead using a half open bolt; hails back from the deer culling days in NZ. It started because the rifles in those days were typically, Older Sakos, Parker Hales, Brnos, BSA's and other rifles using Mauser 98 type actions. Those guns mentioned all had positive half open bolt states and you could walk around with them all day like that without the bolt opening.
In NZ the bush is dense and a hunter will walk all day with a round up the spout and the bolt on half cock. You can't load once you see a deer. It's too late in that situation.
Unfortunately most of those guns today are gone and the most popular rifles in NZ and Aus are the T3 Tikka's and Remington 700s and Howa's. Unfortunately they all have crap half cock actions and it's easy to knock them open and lose a round. These days we are better off adopting the US method of using the safety catch.
I have a best friend that lives in Wisconsin. My dad always says to me I don't know u always kill something because I always take a nap in the woods 😴
Wolf season is always open, init?
How can i ask Billy a question about tenting in the middle of bear country?
