UPDATE: It requires 13 Hearts to Grab & it doesn't 'break' but it does lose a 'charge' and need to be NOT USED to charge up (still remains in your inventory)

Megan Phonesavanh you have to follow the direction of the wind. You can see how if you stand still the flames bend in the direction you're supposed to go.
another way is to follow the embers the torch gives off. if u stand still they will blow in a direction. you go that way and stop to check if it changes every few steps.

You have to follow the amber that is coming off of the torch, the amber from the torch blows in a direction and that is the direction you follow, keep following until you get to the path

This was pretty much my first objective after leaving the Great Plateau, because I was tired of my weapons breaking all the time.
Had to do 40 shrines along the way.

i did enough to gwt like 11 hearts and then did the rhunderblight and waterblight (my unlycky ass did thunderblight first apparently hes the hardest. now everythinf feels too ez) nand now imma go get it 😤

Here’s the hint about the lit torch: Pay attention to ashes it releases (the small lit particles). Where the ashes blows to is the direction you should go.
Ok, so at first I thought this was a lie because ashes blow in the wind but it actually worked an before I was busy swearing at the fog like it was a person. So yeah. follow the ashes I guess:)

ehm, your plan worked but... you did it wrong!. when you set fire to your torch, you need to follow the way the wind blows in the fire.
You can also follow those redish trees that don't have faces.

There was another one in a tree, but for me at least the tree didn't load in so i saw the chest with ought actually trying
you messed me up, I dropped the torch for the spear and had to get a new torch since the fire embers point at the master sword
U have managed to find the master sword whereas I have spent 4 hours doing nothing progressive in the game
I'm trying to get to the yiga clan place to get into vah naboris
I’ve spent over 100 doing little to nothing progess
I think I spent more time hunting insects, lizards and other critters than advancing the main quest

To navigate through the forest after the torches, simply follow in the direction the white spores are moving. Keep stopping to see when they change direction. They will guide you through.

Well, 13 hearts are required to survive the pull of the Master Sword. The sword takes away 12.75 hearts in total so there you go.

pro tip: when ur holding the torch stand still and follow where the sparks go frequently stop because it doesn’t just point to the sword but it points to a direction that the fog wont engulf you hope this helped
Followed this walkthrough, then realized I only had 12 "real" hearts.

for the record, the trick for the lost woods is you're supposed to look at the embers coming from the torches. Whichever way the wind's blowing is the direction you're supposed to go. That's why they give you a free handheld torch.
The fog is almost as thicc as Zelda

When you reach Korok forest make sure to activate the shrine so you can teleport to the forest instead of going through thick fog
I was SO happy they had a shrine there. Besides mounts for the wall, korok village is my home lol

Iv been trying to get through the lost woods for over an hour, your video helped THANK YOU
The trick on finding your way through the lost woods in which that I've discovered is by following where the wind blows toward. As you come to the touch, the flames is blown to a certain direction in which is blowing toward another touch. So I use my touch and let the winds guide me toward the right directions and surely enough I've easily found my way to the sacred woods without getting engulf by the thick fog not even once no problem.
It seems Mudsdale couldn't hear your call...so apparently, Pokémon made it's way into the game, lol.

I’ll explain it in a fraction of the time... (1) Must have at least 13 hearts (2) Go to Korok village and grab it from the pedestal.

here's a tip: it requires 13 hearts to grab, so exchange your stamina in for hearts and then exchange back after your done

I have a faster way, follow the fox until you see the shrine thing going of, after that the fox leaves and you just have to go through we’re there are two mountains! Hope that also helps!
In case anyone is wondering, the easier way of finding your way through the forest is to stand still and go in the direction of the flame on your torch.

In the second section of the lost woods, you can also try to follow the trees without faces to the end
for new players to get through the fog i found out noticing the torch is going towards a different direction to turn to its direction until the torch is only facing how you normally would walk, the torch’s direction would usually face to trees with a mouth so go towards those until you eventually get to a path without trees
I know it’s been three years since you posted this but I know the mechanics of it. Notice how all of the embers flow from all the fire sources. They lead to you to the next pyre, up until the twin pyres where you obtain a torch. You go in the direction the embers flow. I noticed it as I was going through myself.
You need at least 13 hearts to pull out the master sword.

The wind blows in the way you need to go inside the forest, so you have to look for the way the fire blows, it’s a bit hard at first but you can always use his strat as you follow the embers, you have to stop moving to see which way the wind plows but it will help.
I think you have to look at the direction of the embers from your torch are blowing to find the way through the lost wood.
I had to watch the same part 20 times to see where the lost woods were.. since you only glanced at the map for a moment.. and then misdirected where your starting point is . >> I had to finally look at your mini map to figure out where you *REALLY WERE* smh
The torch embers must be flowing straight behind link. It's as if a breeze is blowing from the path you should be on. At least, that's what worked for me. Thanks for sharing!!!

You just have to follow the sparks from the torch when you’re standing still after the two lit fires
If you have a torch or guardian sword, just follow the embers it gives off. You won't get lost.
You follow the embers coming off of the torch and it will lead you. Also if you look closely the grass flows the same direction the embers go. Basically you are following the wind to where you need to go.

The fire on the torch is blown in one direction. Every once in a while the direction changes, but you'll also see the grass move.

These neon blue particles carried by the wind actually show you the way in the lost woods. Just watch closely in which direction they are floating and follow along. That's how I got there.

This video was very helpful for me because a while back I wanted to hunt down the master sword and I end up finding it. It took me a few minutes just to get by the fog btw there’s a shrine right next to the deku tree ( the tree trunk was very big) which is very helpful as well you need to have 13 heart in order to get the master sword out fyi a little helpful tip

What helped me a lot, was just following where wildlife could enter the fog. After a bit of following a fox I ended up at the sword

I literally went for the Master Sword *a f t e r* defeating the Divine Beasts. By then I had about 14 hearts in total (no I'm not a person who actively seeks out shrines), and technically I was chasing Hestu, not the Master Sword. Am I a major disappointment yet?

You'll notice on the torches when you arrive the wind is carrying the embers toward the next torch, eventually you light your own to carry and follow the wind.
The trick is to hold up the lit torch and follow where the ember (fire) leads. The wind blows from "behind", so just go forward
(not so) Fun Fact: You have to beat 52 shrines and spend all of your Hylian Ball thingys on heart containers.
