Great episode, Ean! Cheers is such an iconic sitcom that still truly holds up today, setting the standards for the ones that follow. It went from being a little low-rated show that almost got cancelled after its first season to become one of TV's best that managed to thrive throughout its eleven-season run. Not just thrived but survived. It survived numerous cast additions (Kelsey Grammer as Dr. Frasier Crane; Woody Harrelson as Woody Boyd; Kirstie Alley as Rebecca Howe), the real life death of Nicholas Colasanto (Ernie "Coach" Pantusso), and the departure of Shelley Long (Diane Chambers). Rewatching the show now is like being reunited with old friends that long ago became a part of our families and our lives. You see them once a decade but pick up just where you left off. Also, the theme song is legendary in my humble opinion, and people still wanna go where everybody knows your name. I think that's all I have to say. Thanks for sharing and have a great and amazing week! 😍😉😄 Speaking of which, I have a very special request just for you. Can I please suggest you do a future "5 Things You Didn't Know..." video on the beloved 1993-2004 Cheers spin-off Frasier?
My five takeaways from Cheers: 1. I think people didn’t understand at first the contrast and chemistry between Sam and Diane. She was more suited for Frazier! lol 2. Everyone wants to belong. You are accepted for who you are in that bar. 3. My favorite supporting character was Kelly. I loved her relationship with Woody. 4. The AIDS episode would have been a great way to end the show for Sam. 5. I loved Rebecca Howell and her oppression with Robin Colcord. Such a sophisticated lady going after a man like that. Thank you ENC!
Woody, running a bar? LMFAO! Granted Woody was a great guy, but he kinda saw things a little differently than everyone else, so I’m not sure if Woody could have managed Cheers. Just saying
I think Ted Danson could have really pulled off very strongly that potential would be HIV/AIDS episode. He actually does have some strong drama acting experience... He was in a particularly strong movie of the week dramatic movie; at the very inception of "Cheers". ENC, very nice use of graphics and editing during this production...
I think the HIV episode may have been too hard for the show. They did tackle issue like alcoholism, and homosexuality but they were handled fairly lightly. Even coaches passing was just a quick comment to Woody in his first episode. I think putting an HIV scare in the show would have been a little too close to reality at the time. I wander if they took that idea and tones it down into the episode where Sam is told by and ex that he may have knocked her up?
@@retrocereal Don't know for sure, but my guess is that when Dan Blocker died, it was decided to cancel. My guess is also Lorne Greene was about done with the show and wasn't going to go on without Hoss. It seemed like Little Joe was in a lot of storylines in the last seasons of Bonanza. I don't think Hop Sing was in many of the episodes in the later seasons.
What a great show! Cheers and Frazier were must watch TV back in the day. Thanks for these facts - I didn't know any of these!
Thank you for your comment!!!!!

In a sense "Cheers" did continue after Sam Malone because they came up with "Frasier" for another eleven years.
Very true!
Great new intro!!!

They may have
good morning enc.
Good morning!!!
Think it was a good idea to cancel the show. Woody makes a good point the show wouldn't be the same without Sam. It's like Bonanza without Hoss.
Lol! Yes for sure! Did that actually happen?

It’s not a rug. It’s a hair replacement system.
