Most bikes that have this kind of shifting are high-end road bikes or mountain bikes, so either very weight conscious or durability conscious. The process of turning rotational energy into electricity is simply added weight and another potential point of failure that it is considered by most to be unreasonable, not to mention the potential size of this device. (Think about how big an alternator is on a car) Fully electric bikes with large batteries and motors simply have too much of a power draw for the paltry amount of energy the rotational force will generate.

And 99.99% of the time, people just scroll to the end to hit the accept button. My archer components electronic shifting stop...motor burned and cie said no warranty only deal on new one...so i put back my mechanical shifter works well easyer to fix in the trails if it brakes and cheaper 😊

Wtf? You can't be serious! Disk brakes need less maintenance from what i learned. Got hydraulic disc brakes on my mtb s and changed the brake pads like every 5 years. Have to change the brake shoes on my old city bike at least every one or two years
@@martenride5949 No wtf. I can adjust rim brakes and change pads in 1/10 the time over disc. Disc get brake drag, bent rotors, leaking fluid, need to bleed, caliper maintenance….the list goes on. Not to mention additional weight. Now the latest is electronic disc brakes. Just what I need. A dead battery as I’m screaming down a technical trail. The real problem is no more choice with new bikes. It’s disc or stay home. 👎

Rim brakes are just not useful for real mountainbiking because of the low breaking power. Never had brake drag, bent rotorsand leaking fluid ever. Bleed is done in a few minutes...
