  • In this video I explain what is required to build a good sounding music server.
    It's a long video, It's not scripted.
    The opinions I share are based on my 20-year experiences as a computer audio enthusiast.
    In 2011 I established JPLAY and am since living the dream. My products are used worldwide by over 15 000 customers.
    I have no affiliation with any brands other than my own. All you see is real and based on the life of an eccentric and hard-working music lover.
    The products mentioned in this video are:
    Supermicro X11SCL-F motherboard
    Intel Xeon E-2136 CPU
    Thermalright HR-02 passive cooler
    Apacer DDR4 Industrial wide-temp. UDIMM RAM (PN: D31.23185S.001)

    Where's part 2??? recommend getting a close-up mic, because there's lots of echo in this video, hard to listen. Thanks

    Macin‘s sharing is practical and in-depth. Although there are no gorgeous videos and pictures, it is very valuable。TLC flash has a higher density than SLC flash, but it's also less durable. This means that TLC flash can store more data, but it's also more prone to damage.When TLC flash is written to frequently, the charge levels in the flash cells change. This can cause noise and distortion, which can affect sound quality.

    Very nice RIG!! Personally for streaming and servers the lower power chip & SBCs for ASICs are very effective I lean this way because my Amplifier( s) 600watt mono blocks draw power like refrigerator.
    Client/Server with SSD storage can be effective & efficient ASICs ( boards built to purpose) canvery very good I too have an extensive background in I.T.

    Have you tried low latency operating systems like Audiophile Linux or Ubuntu Studio?

    If the benefits of xeon are is supporting ecc. Maybe those new ryzen 7x3d cpus are a better option now, supporting ecc and a higher cache?

    Hey does anyone know, after having got all 3 rails of linear atx psu at enough amperage, how to plug it into mother board so it switches on? Do you always need all the lead? Maybe too much for a YT video. Good Video Marcin.

    Please explain why ECC RAM sounds better because SOtM designed a non ECC server board for audio on Intel 370 chipset.

      @lllllMlllll Před 11 měsíci

      ECC RAM is obviously a better choice because it corrects, on the fly, for the audio signal errors

    i3's support ECC So I don't get your argument that Xeons "sound" better....

      @ProGwardzista  Před rokem

      Yes, but Xeons do offer higher performance :)
