The future is looking a little grim.
What did you think of this album? Love it? Hate it? Why? What should I review next, eh?

BAD BRAINS- INTO THE FUTURE / 2012 / MEGAFORCE / PUNK ROCK, HARDCORE PUNK, DUB, REGGAE, ALTERNATIVE METAL
3/10
Y'all know this is just my opinion, right?
Bad Brains is one of those bands that is cursed with an amazing debut album.
They got some other good stuff too
Hey now, I Against I is a sick album too
I mean there are lots of artist with amazing debuts that have plenty of amazing albums after too
I Against I is better than the debut, fight me
I against I rules
Do a Bad Brains album for classics week!!
+theHALLOWEDmetal agreed
Was about to comment that. The debut.
Rock for Light, I against I and Quickness are bona fide masterpieces! It's a scientific fact!
Why aren’t you mentioning their self titled it’s easily their best lol
@@jpeg204 I agree. Even "God of Love" is often overlooked. As heretical as it may seem age has been kind to "Rise." Is an album without HR a BB album proper?
considering this one.
theneedledrop how has no one replied or liked this after 7 years

@@thenormalman9159because they’d do useless replies like yours
As much as I love their first album, "I against I" and "Quickness" are absolutely awesome and to dismiss them for not being punk enough is as stupid as claiming to having a punkometer
HAPPY BIRTHDAYYYYYY!
Thank youuuuuu
Thank you
When you listen to bad brains music, you should enjoy the evolutionary change of the band. They are keep changing beautifully.
the reason why each album after the self-titled isnt as good is because its not possible to do again. its simply, not possible. that album is the holy book of punk.
I just want to thank you for your videos man, a lot of the music I have discovered through your videos doesn't get any exposure here in Mexico and I would have never listened to them, so mad props bro !
Popcorn is actually one of the best off the album. I don't think you get a picture of their ways and concept. It's fkn profound and original and I think it goes along a continuum from "build a nation". It's even more mature. I think they got the sound exactly how they wanted it... Yeah they're not in their 20's anymore, nonetheless they're still way ahead of their time. All I know is this album really gives me the chills and to be over-analytical on the details doesn't allow one to just feel it.
Im fact, it was written when they were younger. It appears on a live album from 2001 called soul brains a bad braind reunion. So its cool they finally gave it a proper studio recording.
It's his opinion. Music is subjective.
Actually that popcorn song is from late 1999 early 2000. It appears on a live album from 2001 called "Soul brains: a bad brains reunion" since they didnt have the rights to the bad brains name at that point, but still. Its way older than this album, so it wasnt written with them being so old in mind. In fact i think its pretty neat they finally gave it a proper studio version for this release.
i'll consider it...
bad brains are still my favorite hardcore punk band. they already had albums that weren't widely accepted so i wont mind another one of their albums NOT on my itunes haha
What's more punk rock than a guitar being played through a practice amps, really cheap distortion pedals and finger drags over the fingerboard!!??!
What's kind of funny is that the guitarist uses $2,000+ amps and gear. Just terrrrrible recording
If y'all knew hr's music in the early 80's you would be disappointed too.old school brains really were fucking hard core then. -----so fyi the new album sucks. .--sorry
Well, this is just one of those bands with an amazing debut album with still good newer ones but everyone just wants a repeat of the debut one. Poor Bad Brains.
is that a mixtape?
i love you, too.
After Quickness I was more into HR. Still these lads are getting on. How many bands still make great music in their 70's. Not even the stones
Anthony you did a top 10 list for velvet underground a while back. I was just wondering if you could do other top 10s for other band? Get this to the top folk. These videos must HAPPEN.
I agree I Against I was a great album
i love all bad brains records. the later offerings are different which is a good thing. i agree '79 through the mid '80's was epic but i like it all. not the album where they had the guy from the first faith no more record on it. arise i think. anyway, go bad brains.
I agree on the most part.
but i do not hate the guitar tone,
the only saving graces are the reggae/dub songs like jah love, just because how catchy that synth bass line is
It is messily written and thrown together, but it does stay true to the self titled album, just modernised,
so on that basis i would say that it would be an okay starter bad brains album, even though it will never beat the sel titled
might have been muse.
when did punk become so intelectual-over-analytical?
since when did it become fine dismiss a bad album for being a bad album just because its a punk album
JTC Seems like you have a pretty low opinion of punk.
Also post- and art are both genres subject to analysis.
Errors - New Relics, please. Came out on the 6th of this month. It doesn't look like you've ever done an Errors review, but I know you know the band.
I got into Bad Brains early on, after reading a very negative review that called them, among other things: " just another punk band". The reviewer was heavily into Frank Sinatra and Barbara Streisand. Understanding the tragic shortsightedness and closemindedness of the reviewer, I ran to buy Bad Brains.
When you seperated yourself from Bad Brains albums, you should have also seperated yourself from reviewing progressive punk bands like Bad Brains ! Seven songs from Back to the future are masterpieces. How could you fail to acknowledge the greatness. Did you really listen to the songs ?!? Did you listen to them on an outdated cheap stereo speaker? Did you listen to them with a mindset that was ready to perceive and appreciate innovation?
throbbing gristle has a new LP out?
You should categorize your reviews by music genre. I think it would help subscribers to find their wanted review and help you keep track of the fairness for the genres you do reviews for.
Someone else knew too.... Bad Brains were MIND POWER. Don't know if any recordings exist
Also, Code Orange Kids - Love Is Love//Return To Dust. Up & coming hardcore band signed to Deathwish. A-m-a-z-i-n-g
i am...
the band has accomplished so much in their music, and at this point they dont have nothing to prove, but they could at least generate one more great album like band in dc or quickness. Im just happy they're still around unlike many other great bands from their generation.
hmmmmmmmm.
Good review, who is the best BB producer? Ric Ocasek, Adam Youch?
thinking about it. review is halfway written.
Ooh ooh ooh! You could do a double-review video, where you review BOTH Errors' releases this year, since you missed the one back in February (which was actually very good)
It's so hard to sit here and listen to this review, and realize that I agree with it. Bad Brains has been in my top 5 since early elementary school, around 1st grade. I'm 18 now. It sucks to see one of most, if not THE most, influential punk band ever fall like this. But it's been a steady decline since I Against I like Anthony says. What's that saying about all great empires fall? That's how I feel about this. It's sad but true.
yes and yes. :-)
I don't totally agree with all of his opinions. He does have his points. As a long time Bad Brains fan, I enjoy most of this album. I'll always love this band.
you can't criticise a punk record for not being well recorded or produced. punk sounds best raw in my opinion
you should really go back and listen to i against i. also, rock for light and quickness. never had anyone agree with me but i actually liked most of god of love too, it was the last time it sounded like h.r. cared.
yeah Anthony, its free download on datpiff.com or can buy it on itunes with 3 bonus tracks. ive been waiting to see what you and the deadendhip guys thought about it but havent seen anything yet.i personally think its great ,fav tracks- Hola Santiago,Stardumb,Colorblind,In Love With A lie,Dark Cloud
Radiation City - The Hands That Take You
A once mighty band that has fallen from grace......and its so sad to see :(
Where is the power that gave us 'Pay to Cum' , 'Banned in D.C' and 'Attitude'? I dunno, but like you Anthony, I parted ways from hardcore around 1994 (Fugazi excepted), because like death metal and black metal, for music that is meant to be 'radical', these genre's are so deeply conservative and linear that it just ain't fun any more.
Which is why PiL is better than the Pistols.....
Is that Dead Kennedy's album in the back suppose to be a joke? Because all it does is make me want to go listen to some Dead Kennedys, not a disappointing Bad Brains album : )
Do it! It would be really interesting to hear your opinion on Macintosh Plus!
I against I is great
Stagnant Waters- Stagnant Waters
This dude is nutz! The new album is sik! Get it... Support HR and Bad Brains by buying it from their website. Excellent Album. What else is out there like it??? NOTHING...
what else is out there like it? better punk albums
i feel like HR has always sung kind of out of tune? like its his style ? but his voice is for sure weaker on the album
He did a video entitled 'What is a 10?', in which he passingly refers to Pink Flag, Madvillainy and Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars as '10s'.
Talking about H.R.'s vocals. I don't know if you know this, but he has bipolar disorder and is on some weird medication all the time and has been for about 15 years, so he's a bit like Brian Wilson in that he's is not right in the head, which is why he's a bit off on this album. I do agree however that Bad Brains and Rock for Light are their best works.
I liked this album, it might just be because I like Bad Brains a lot, though. Nothing really lives up to Banned In D.C. for me but I like it all.
gallows S/T
Landscapes Life gone wrong
Dingus Khan - Support Misty Swans
William Baskinski - Disintegration loops
I guess the problem is that Bad Brains will never have the same energy they had in the 70's early 80's. Although I still think this is a decent album they are far from Black Dots or the Roir Tapes.
happy birthday!
Too bad, I want more bad brains to love. I still say Omega Sessions is underrated.
whatever floats your boat.
Coheed & Cambria - the afterman ascension
They maybe just tried to sound like they're seeing the future. It looks dark, is their message to the people.
Please Review
Other Lives - Tamer Animals
Alt-J - An Awesome Wave
Wu Lyf - Go Tell Fire to the Mountain
That idea wouldn't work so well simply because bands like Bad brains exist.
Agreed
happy birthday
BALMORHEA-STRANGER! - OTHER LIVES EP!!!
Yeah he did review Big K's last album, but from what I remember it didn't get that great of a score.
Cal Chuchesta- Well-Known Pleasures
Uncle acid and the deadbeats, rerelease of Blood Lust
Also check out Pure Hell, another black punk band.
The Physics - Tomorrow People
Ken - By Request Only
people hear what they see-oddisee review this please.
If you didn't like I Against I then doubt you ever liked Bad Brains. Their debut effort Banned In DC was a great music but poorly recorded. Thrash was always about energy not virtuosity Bro. These Cats are old now they will never regain that youthful energy but this is a respectable effort.
I blared BB self-titled all the way to class, it cheered me up
OMG THX
Code Orange Kids- Love Is Love//Return To Dust
when you say 'wash your hands of' re: records. Do you mean you sell them off? Or just not listen to these particular ones anymore
I know it's old, but how about Mary's Voice by The Music Tapes?
i liked that album... by far not there best one but its a good album
i think its like metallicas death magentic wich was a flawed album but a okay til good album
its a great step in the right direction
Fuck me, Fucking Perfect Prescription in vinyl on the freaking shelf right there... fuck me... good one, Mr. Fantano
Kurt Rosenwinkel -- Star of Jupiter...?....
Fashawn - Champagne and Styrofoam Cups
Has Ant done Thieves Like Us yet?
NOO YOU GAVE BAD BRAINS A 3
This this this, oh god this
It's alright. I mean it's not the greatest but Bad Brains are beyond the point of no return, they will never be the band they once were. Still though, when you compare this album to others in their discography I wouldn't say it's their worst.
I disagree with everything this guy says. I Against I is one of the best Bad Brains albums period. The music was too ambitious for this punk by the book guy.
Brent Bergholm Still maintain that opinion? Be a little strange if you did.
Yuck
Balmorhea - Stranger? It's an idea.
He gave a 10/10 to Death Grips' The Money Store album. He also gave Wire's Pink Flag LP a 10/10 but removed the video.
When it comes out, the new Streetlight Manifesto LP.
YEAHHHHHHHHHHHH
Sorry, can't help it sometimes.....he just does very good reviews.
Will you be reviewing Angel Olsen?
Review L'Orange - The Mad Writer!
Could you review Led Zeppelin's Celebration Day?
Have you reviewed Live From the Underground - Big K.R.I.T.? Also, have you ever awarded a 10/10?
Anthony, I Have to say I did really did enjoy this album
