- Ayanokoji’s backstory resides in the White Room. An isolated environment where from birth, children are exposed to extreme learning conditions in order to facilitate development. Through the processes of the White Room, Ayanokoji’s humanity was chipped away until he became a monster.

It's not his fault, he was born into a world where he had to succeed or be thrown into the trash. He was raised from birth to be the best at everything he does while seeing what happens to his peers who fail. He finally has a chance to be human and have freedom, socializing with people at the school and he's opened up to a few people like Kei.
But at the end of the day he doesn’t care about anyone but himself. One of his main ideologies is self preservation no matter what happens if he comes out unscathed then it was a success. It doesn’t matter what happens to anyone else
@@fatmouse4279 No doubt one of his main goals is self preservation and not getting expelled from the school and not getting sent back to the white room. But he's also been training Horikita to lead the class without his help so he can transfer to another class and compete against her. His main goal right now in the novel is to get the class and Horkita strong enough to defeat him when he transfers to another class and show his father that he was wrong because after he graduates he is going to have to go back to the white room but maybe after losing to Horkita and his class his father will lose interest in him is my theory. And I believe that no matter what he thinks or says, he does care about Kei and he'd do anything to protect her in the latest novels.
@@Omnicloudx13 even his goal to have horikita become strong enough to defeat him is a selfish one he doesn’t want to see her thrive he wants to prove his father wrong
@@Omnicloudx13 His theory of his father losing interest in him being the best choice he has truly shows the influence his father has, no wonder he has to think about self preservation so much
But it's his fault not to think in a different way
lol, he's the most mentally stable out there and demonstrates incredible cognitive empathy. He doesn't exhibit criminal tendencies and genuinely wants to live a normal life. He's just farsighted compared to everyone. He acts cold and indifferent but you can't deny the fact that he's helped a lot of problem child in the school to overcome their past traumas and become better versions of themselves.
He did it because he can use them because with out them he coudn t reach class a . ( Sorry for bad english)
Man is a dark empath?!
@@gheorghesapojnicov5164 he uses them so as not to stand out but in the process also help them grow. I'm not talking about whether he has good intentions or not nor trying to say that the end justify the means but just look at dragon boy, Horikita, Sudo, Hirata, and Kei. Next is Ichinose.
@@Realfixo I'd say yes but those who are a dark empath have high empathy but use it against the ppl to manipulate them
Tho in case of him , he lacks in empathy plus he doesn't have all the traits that makes him a master manipulator so
He is kinda smth in between if that makes sense

If you've read the LNs it becomes clear that while Ayanokouji is indeed trapped, he's on a journey and bit by bit he's crashing down those prison walls. The author does a good job of making it extremely ambiguous since ayanokouji is an unreliable narrator which makes you doubt if he's lying to the audience or not, but I think a lot of what Ayanokouji has said about his life outside of the white room vs the life in it, the value of emotion and connection, and of all the things in the world (like nature) that you can't find when you're locked away in a white room are all true. For some things I don't feel like he feels very strongly about yet, while others he does, but I think he does have a very strong desire to develop feelings for all of those things. He deeply appreciates things like nature, cuisine, and various other mundane pleasures he couldn't find in the white room, and he enjoys them partly due to the strong curiosity he has for learning and experiencing and partly his "teenage rebellion" in finding intrinsic value in things his father and the white room rejected. (I've read up through year 2 volume 7 btw). I think for stuff like friendship, romance, and emotional development, he struggles more with though, despite his desire for developing this more deeply, since doing so often seems to feel contrary to his cold and calculating nature. He wants to feel these emotions and connections to some extent, and while it's not like he doesn't feel them at all, they're felt much more weakly than the average person since he's essentially a newborn in this area and playing a lot of catch up, and learning to set aside being manipulative and calculating isn't easy for him. I think this is the contradiction inside himself that he's mentioned a few times. He was raised to be the perfect human from a productive and national contribution standpoint, and he intends to use these skills he has been given for his own benefit as much as possible for at least these 3 years at advanced nurturing high school before he has to go back to the white room. On the other hand, he wants freedom and to rebel and find value in all the things his father and the white room rejected. He wants to experience and appreciate all the ordinary day to day things and features of the world he lives in. He wants emotion and real connection. He can't stop being himself though, he can't escape the self-preservation and gain-loss instincts ingrained deep within and be rid of their control over his decision-making and even his feelings. He wants to experience more deeply the wonderful things he's gotten a taste of that to most of us are what make life beautiful and enjoyable, but he's going to have to shrug off some of his nature in order to do that more. Over the course of the series, words of wisdom from people he's respected have allowed him new perspective, though, so I think he already has made real progress since he has seemingly shifted more of his focus onto making an impact on the lives of others and helping them, even if he does often use that to his own ends too. I think this struggle within himself is why he wants to be defeated, too. He wants proof for his logic-driven nature that things aside from what he was educated in have value. If someone can defeat him, then surely he can brand the white room education as insufficient and lacking and therefore "override" his logical/manipulative side to more freely chase after all the things he wants to learn and experience since being defeated by someone who has such things would imply that those things have practical value. Even if he isn't defeated, though, I still think he'll be most of the way there by the end regardless, as he is learning and developing these things little by little. The author has done an incredible job of obscuring what ayanokouji really thinks and feels though through unreliable narration, so it's difficult not to over or under estimate where he's at, but I think his growth is undeniable, it's just a matter of how many steps forward and how many back, and where he'll be at the end. All the signs for this series seem to vaguely suggest a happy ending, but what makes it interesting is the journey and finding out WHO ends up happy in the end, and HOW? Only the author knows I suppose. If you can't tell I'M REALLY IMPATIENT FOR Y2 V8 WHEN NEXT VOLUME GONNA HIT BROOOOO.

I'm loving this anime rn it's one of my favorites and worth the 1 week episode wait!
Keep up the good work!
If you really love this serie then you should read Light Novel. It's from Ayanokouji's perspective and makes you understand him better.
@@XuhXum Should I start the light novel from the beginning or start where the latest episode ended (ex. start from the ending of s2 ep3)
@@Commentier If you want to understand Ayanokouji start from beginning. Also they changed a lot in anime. They took Ayanokouji's and other characters screentime and gave it to Horikita.
@@XuhXum Alright thank you for the answer
@@Commentier start from v4.5 and you should be good. If things in that feel familiar, u could just skip further.
He isnt trying to hide his white room personality with a mask, If anything his white room personality was a mask put on to be able to survive in that world, he is just a guy who went through no emotional development and is shown (in the LNs) to be actively trying to change to be where he should be emotionally. He acts like himself, he is just cold and distant, that *is* his personality.
Well…. I wouldn’t say impossible. Something that goes against to philosophy that he hates and is bound to could possibly be a stepping stone for more emotional development. He acknowledges that his views are corrupt, and he hates it. That is enough to prove that he can be salvaged for me.
He doesn’t hate his views....
He just curious about things that weren’t taught in the white room...
Like loving & caring..
What a fantastic analysis I love this show 9.8/10 peak fiction. W channel

In conclusion: If you want to be like Ayanokoji you have to study Piano and Kaligraphy
nope, its a more complex journey if you really want to be like him
I loved this anime, great characters, good plot, and I remember empathizing with the tragic character Ayanokoji; he was a prisoner who was chained up, broken down, and manipulated, not by choice, but by force. I remember thinking that he was tragic, he was such a bad person and his methods were evil. I realize he was simply the result of the circumstances forced upon him and although tragic; it was to be expected. A human being or a living being, should not be caged. Even birds whom are caged start to rip their feathers off due to stress. In time they break and the result is someone like Ayanakoji. The problem is when they get loose; you will never put them back in a cage and due to Ayanakoji's intellect; he will likely never be beat. He is a monster, but not by birth, he is a created Socipathic monster by Psychopaths whom tested upon him and put him in a cage.
It's a great Anime and the plot is really good. A tragic story though. It's glorified a bit by us the viewers, but it's horrible what was done and happened to him. I can only imagine the effects of something like this or something similar would have if it happened to someone in real life. Tragic, I forgot the last part his only desire was freedom and to find some sort of peace within himself.
You can also watch/read monster similar stories for the main characters are there too but unlike ayanokoji Johan is way more complex and talented.
@@theArgent44 nah Ayanokoji is more complex. And while Johan is more talented in social skills overall Ayanokoji still IS better.
And no I don't disrespect Monster but Johan isn't more complex
@@N-Ice_ ayanokoji still thinks like a normal human with the goal of winning. While Johan's brain is fucked up beyond repair. He thinks the things that happend to other People happend to him so that way even his own memories are blurry to him. That is why he is more complex
You are right, He is not caged nor was he ever in chains.
The day he realizes that he will be most dangerous. Additionally, yeah it seems he snapped and everything after that has been repentance. I hope he finds Jesus Christ because lucky for him, Jesus is Loving, Merciful, and Forgiving to those that simply Ask. I don't really watch anime like that anymore, but yeah it was a fun thing to watch. God Bless.@@iamfighterman9646
I disagree with how you ended the video. I disagree that the mental cage he is in cuz of the white room is “impossible” to escape from. I think the whole point of his character arc is his journey escaping that cage
Agreed
That foreshadow it bruh
thanks for the information
He reminds me of Soichirou from Fate/stay night
Both were raised in hellish training camp, where they were forced to reject their humanity. In both cases they escaped, but it was too late for them.
They both became too emotionally stunned to find any emotions or joy of life, due to severe trauma.
Ayanokoji is not really sociopath. As he does not really enjoy inflicting pain on others or seek power. He simply seeks to become "the best" because its only thing that can trigger any emotions in him (very thin, but still only one)
Soichirou saw it in his bond with Caster. While it wasn't love, it trigger some very narrow emotions in him. The only emotion he could feel, so clinged to it.
They both clinged to little remaining emotions he has as it is only sense of freedom they had.
They see the world in "cause and effect sense" by observing it in from outside, but cannot truly perceive it emotionally.
People that never had depression, don't know how does it feel to be tormented by not having emotions. So when people like that find something that triggers emotions cling to it.
Also Ayanokoji helped a lot of people. Sometimes without even needing to do so, or having any benefit
@@N-Ice_ It was only so that it could benefit him in future, he needed to build trust
Remember season 1 finale, that scene when Ayanokoji reveals his true motivation.
However, concepts like good and evil don't really exist for him because he lacks emotions. Only overcoming his trauma can let him feel something.
@@jacek107ify dude I read the LN so I obviously know about it. He still helped people and sometimes he didn't even need to do it for his plans or benefit. Also the one at the end it wasn't his true motivation at ALL. Firstly, he actually wants to experience normal life and relationship, secondly he wants to learn emotions. Thirdly he wants to be defeated, which will prove that whiteroom is a mistake, if it's best creation lost to some highschhoolers.
And the tool monologue, isn't him but a part of him. It was developed while he was raised in the whiteroom, he needed to have it to survive. It's a defensive mechanism (and it activated after Chabashira blackmail btw). Actually same as Kei's defensive mechanism of acting arrogant and as a leader of girls. In reality she's really different. Same with Kiyotaka(even he said in LN, that as a kid he used to cry a lot).
He also after this, had thoughts like "I'm happy that things are going for the better for her. Hm? Those thoughts are unlike me. Is it my real self? I'm confused, I'm like a clay or liquid. Becoming a person takes time" basically here it's stated he doesn't know what his real self is. And he had 2 other selfs before, 1 is him at the start(goofy and weird) 2 is his whiteroom defense mechanism. Also when spread your legs happened, he said that if this person is being bound by her past, than all I need to do is break her from it. There was also vol 4.5 and him thinking that he wanted Kei to have fun in the pool, and when she was playfully drowning him while giggling he thought "If my presence brings healing to this person. Than it's not so bad"
I also don't see him doing any lasting damage on people's health physically or mentally. Sometimes he can do things like "spread your legs" but in the end they also help the person overcome the weakness.
Seeing his real thoughts, clues, actions and it's consequences. He helped a ton of people and I can't say he isn't a good person
@@N-Ice_ isn't it funny how buddy just did what ayanakouji does 24/7 does a super good deed then rationalizes it as it would have affected my future plans when he did it for no benefit
@@jacek107ify another thing to not unbeknownst to ayana he actually loves to see people grow also if u read even a portion of the ln you would instantly know ur wrong
I mean, ayanokoji doesn't really mesh all that well with what sociopathy is. Sure, he checks some boxes but not all. He is not impulsive, he can and will plan ahead, he is not physically aggressive, at least not often, he does not have a problem managing his responsibilities( as in, showing up on time for school, doing his part when the whole class is doing something)
I'm not an expert and I don't claim to know what I'm talking about but at least, from my understanding, ayanokoji does not seem to be sociopathic. He shares traits that both sociopaths and psychopaths has but also lacks traits that they have.
Needs more views
You talk so hyper and professionally

I dont think he lost his emotions during the process he doesn't express the way he feels to not stand out and is a amanipulation genius
Was not hoping to see you do something like this in another anime because i only saw you do this things in ONE piece only
Well, "When you become untouchable you're unable to touch"
How is this goofy ah song so deep though, also, a quote that I believe is perfectly fitting, even though it's talking about a different thing.
the whole of season 1 of the anime adaptation shows him trying/learning to be human and blend with society. He's like a new born because he has never actually left the white room up until the beginning of episode 1

Ngl I love his mask it's so cool looking and I want one
W doron as always
when the rest of the manga gets animated, it'll become clear who he really is, which is to say not really a sociopath in any conventional sense.
That's why I read in a book called perfectly imperfect that their is no human who is perfect if someone is perfect than he's not human anymore because only machines are perfect and ayanakyoji is like a machine that's why he don't have any emotion because he's perfect but deep down he's already dead he can't enjoy life without emotion he makes other pawn and say others are victim but in reality he is the real victim of this show.
Ayanokoji has two faces: the surface level facade he shows his classmates as a developing underachiever, and the same face but with backlighting
This ayanokoji is a hardcore MASTER MANIPULATOR.he should be watched closely.but his talented and works really hard.
So this kid is basically Natsume

funny how the perfect human lost his humanity to become the perfect human
He's not a sociopath. Sociopaths are unable to control themselves in a way. It is a metal disorder, but Ayanokoji does not have that. He is just emotionless and selfish. Thats all their is to it. He cares about people, but on a more logical standpoint. He lies because it will either danger people around him or himself. His inner self is not struggling in any way since he does not see any reason to. People usually misinterpret his character because he is ice cold. True, but if you really think about it his emotions would get in the way. As far as the series goes, emotions are one of the worst things a person can have since it more often than not led to their downfall. He is a master psychologist and would probably be able to diagnose himself with anything from a mental disorder or problem if he did have one. But honestly, thinking about his past when he had no emotions to begin with its not as bad as people think it was from his perspective. It was hard, but no complaints and no need to do anything else. In truth, it truly is the best place to raise a human through their adolescence. You don't do stupid things or distract yourself from getting better. Ayanokoji doesn't feel hate or resentment towards that part of his past, even after learning a little bit about what it means to be a human in the outside world. That's gotta say something.
Still goes into my theory that Ayanokoji was raised to be the ultimate spy or intelligence agent.
If he’s dad allowed he’s mom to visit and nurture him while in the white room he’ll have less tendencies
its not really two faces. he is always one way. If anything he tries to only have one face. the other "face" is just his monologue in the light novel, its how he thinks.
I think the manga was how he thought he looked like and the anime is how he actually looked like and the light novel is both combined

As someone who is a borderline (Personality Disorder), I felt relieved to some degree.
While all these look so attractive in the fictional world and at one time fed my splitting traits, it sucks in the real world.
I don’t really know, if you read the novel you will know that he expresses emotion like a normal person...
I know about 12 signs of a sociopath but Ayanokōji only fits in roughly 2...That doesn’t make him a sociopath...And moreover this one of the reasons he actually came to that exact school.
An example of a sociopath is definitely Ryen...he fits in all 12 signs😅
I think the correct way to put it is that he feels emotions just like any other person but doesn't know how to express them as is just confused as to what he's feeling in the first place.
While yes he feels emotions he is still not a normal person and should be classified as a sociopath, he has tendencies and thinking that makes him a sociopath.
If he was a sociopath he wouldn't like kei

Sociopath's are usually made with how they grew up. While he doesn't fully fit into Sociopath or Psychopath he is kind of a mix of them.

Now that you mention it, the White Room and its goal feel like something out a fictional story that deals with totalitarianism, or something similar that if I'm right. My guess is that Kiyotaka and all the other children of the White Room were born in an artificial manner by in vitro fertilization or in some kind of facility tube. In Kiyotaka's case, he was probably conceived in an artificial womb or a facility tube, which probably explains how he was born the way he is.
On a side note, if COTE were to have a crossover with FGO in the form of a prequel with Doctor Who, Kiyotaka Ayanokouji's servant would be Sherlock Holmes. But Sherlock would probably leave Ayanokouji in favor of The Fourth Doctor due to the latter's capability of human social skills and genuine kindness.
Ayanokoji is perfect Spartian II candidate , if he was in halo universe Dr Halsey will surely kidnap him and make him a Spartian II .

Maybe his emotion to Kei, not happening bro 05:16, its like in Kei dream. From what I can see on his perspective there is no maybe yeah he talk about thing like maybe or hope things develop like so and so, but it all have been calculate(from emotion, behavior of someone n etc). He want that relationship not because his emotion but because her usefulness n probably his curiosity on lover relationship. I bet 100% if there are better ways he can achieve his goal through cutting ties with Kei, he will abandon her without second thought and said to himself its the correct choice.
Sad things about it Kei never found out how his true emotion toward her even tho she poke on that subject every now and then. They said "love is blind" or rather the parasite have attach to a perfect host? I had hope his growth as a person when he entering the school but I never seen that growth even on the second years. Maybe the key to that growth is someone need to beat him so he could taste true defeat. Like how his modus operandi by making that person fall then bring them back up, someone need to make him fall so he have the chance to grow.
kei did find out wym? she litterally forgave him but ayana wrote it off as her parasite side latching onto him but no she had grown and wanted the world to know the real Kei the real her but ayana being ayana didn't see that kei being so similar in a sense to Ayana saw how emotionless he was and how much he truly wanted to feel emotion and be loved genuinely just like her but ayana has such a lack of emotion due to the Whiteroom but he states many time he doesn't even know who or what the real ayana is but he helped kei overcome her trauma whether as a tool or what and kei loves him for that and she wants people and ayana himself to see that he does care and can care and can be happy
like u do realize the rooftop panel in the LN didn't have to happen ayana didn't have to help Kei right there he just did it and after rationalized it as being part of his plan or it could have been a hindrance but it lotterally wouldn't have affected anything
ayana whenever he does good deed chocked it up as being part of his plan when it really wouldn't have affected anything but he needs to rationalize cuz that happiness or satisfaction that emotion u get from doing good o achieving a favorable outcome those emotions are overshadowed by whiteroom Ayana u should touch up on the LN more it's super good
@@clembrown6311 you really want their relationship to stay huh... well it your opinion I respect that, the key is Ayanakoji emotion. Without it/lack of it he always see people as a tool no matter how romantic you want for their relationship to be. Speaking of tools, he will lost his chance to fully acquire Kei(tool) affection on the rooftop if he didn't save her. I say lost, meaning he already plan the event on the rooftop will happen. If you notice his intention of saving Kei, he could do it earlier(you know before Ryuen began her baptism).
Why did he w8 at the very last minute... if what you said is true about the event on the rooftop wouldn't have affected anything. Why he need his timing to save her? Then ask yourself why Ayanakoji pick Kei as his partner? Out of all the girls on his 1st year why is Kei. Is she smart? Is she have good personality? is she attractive? is she strong(like physically)? OR is she have something(control over girls side in her class) that none of other girls have? Pls don't say Kushida she nice to all people(on the outside ofc) but she not at the top of the food chain in Class D girls. With this, the event class C girls bully on the ship make sense, leading to Ryuen Kakeru event on the rooftop make sense. What do you mean it doesn't matter if the event on the rooftop happen or not. Ayanokoji is the one that make it happen.
@@clembrown6311 like the guy on the video said Ayanokoji is manipulative person 05:20. what better way to manipulate his class girls side than to have the top girl(Kei ofc) at his side.
I'm not sure when this event where Kei forgave him could you give the time specific... is it after the unanimous vote special exam?
Don't get me wrong I want his emotion growth to succeed from his 3 year in this elite school buuuut it already 1 year n a half. From what I can see at the 2nd year his emotional growth is so minimal or maybe none. His peer have much more growth than he is even outside his class. It can't be help, the curriculum of the Whiteroom(WR) on his generation is focusing on individualistic. And that have an impact on his self as a person. I believe mere 3 years does not enough to cultivate this emotion growth bcoz of that WR curriculum specifically.
Don't get baited by his inner thought saying he want to feel this romantic relationship or this is how it feel doing good deed. It just the way he understand it not feel it. You know, he's like AI robot that want to know emotion. Trying to scrutinize this foreign thing that new to him. I don't know why people so hung up with relationship between Kei and Ayanokoji... but they didn't care how Sakura feel when he toss her aside like garbage(that 2nd year btw).
Hes not
imagen ayanokoji getting isekai and have a cheat how will the world torn up will be?
He’s my daddy I think I made him like that
Why are people calling him a sociopath?? I thought sociopaths were impulsive and don’t have generally great foresight / perspective. I think he’s just more of a traumatised and failed child- failed as in for all the greatness of the white room, what he was really taught was that exceptionality will keep him safe but they did no teach him basic social skills. His biggest failing is he doesn’t know how to act around people.
That's what the point of the mask is~
Lol Inosuke joke
No offense but he dosent have to faces, you could argue that he dosent have a sense of self until the latter parts of the story
His white room self is more of a self-defence mechanisam than anything else, think about ayanokoji had to see horrors beyond our amigination regulary the way he coped with it was to put no vaule to begin with, if those around you mean nothing than how can losing them effect you if you value them as 0
The facede of a regular high school boy he used is realy just a way for him to Communicate others somewhat because he knows far better than anyone else that there are things wrong with him so to make connections he put on that masks, the irony being that his first human connection is with kei who saw him at his worst
He also vaules her more than he himself knows, read vol 7 why did he even bother going to save her he didnt need to and yet he did, why did he make a deal with manabu when he had his teacher already there, to put it simply kei was the only person who might understand him and he didnt need to fake anything in front of her, he made a deal with manabu so that he and kei can work together again, which means he threw away the peacefull life he wanted just for that connection with kei, he said it himself "her usefullness is secondery, all that matters is that she is mine"
He also states in vol 7 that his heart went numb, and yet what does he say about his expresion "no emotions should be seeping out" meaning that he has them he should be in his white room persona and yet he talks about emotions when there shouldnt be any to begin with in that purely logical state of being
Ayanokoji is 'like' someone who can already do anyrthing so i feel like hes just bored and sht.
For me, Ayanokouji is more like a psychopath.
1) Psychopaths tend to be more manipulative ✅
2) Can be seen by others as more charming ✅
3) Lead a semblance of a normal life ✅
4) Minimize risk in criminal activities ✅
Sociopaths tend to be more erratic, rage-prone, and unable to lead as much of a normal life.
well he ain't, he's not mentally unstable. In fact, he's the most mentally stable out there and demonstrates incredible cognitive empathy. He doesn't exhibit criminal tendencies and genuinely wants to live a normal life. He's just farsighted compared to everyone. He acts cold and indifferent but you can't deny the fact that he's helped a lot of problem child in the school to overcome their past traumas and become better versions of themselves.
He never want to do Great i think you are wrong
ayanokoji is a machiavellian not a sociopath sociopaths cant control their emotions like ayano does
We don’t live in meritocracy. We see Utilitarianism in Absurdism.
