    Deadpool & Wolverine is shaping up to be a worldwide smash hit, so how will Disney leverage this success to sell some comics? In the aftermath of all their recent failures, up to including Kathleen Kennedy’s Star Wars The Acolyte, they would surely not go all female centric again, right?

    I lived through this first-hand in my college years. I worked at a comic store in a mall that was literally across the hallway from the movie theater. This was the peak MCU time period (from Avengers through Infinity Wars) and it sucked. I lost track of the number of potential customers that came in excited from the theater and then shortly afterwards left disappointed without buying anything.
    My boss had sunk his life savings into opening the store. He did everything he should have done. He picked an ideal location. He picked a time when interest in comics was at an all-time high due to the MCU. And he did his best to make sure that his staff was not only helpful but also knowledgeable about the characters and storylines in order to make informed recommendations to customers. Unfortunately, he lost his shirt on the endeavor because Marvel and DC (yeah, they went Woke at the same time) completely gutted their own audience over political ideology.

      Y'know, I had to make that _exact same decision_ last year, when deciding whether to go see _The Little Mermaid_ in the theater or not.
      While I had been reasonably convinced that it was _not_ a woke movie ( _despite_ the studio it came from), and to _deliberately_ disregard some of the casting, the next question I had to answer was, "Do I want to financially support The Bob Iger Company for it?" And the answer was very simple: remember _Sonic the Hedgehog_ (2020, Paramount Pictures).
      Not only did I pay full price for a movie ticket to see _TLM_ '23, but I bought some merchandise afterwards, _and_ they _earned my respect and defense_ of the movie... something that _no shill or cancel pig would ever_ be caught dead doing.
      In short: #WithRespectWeAccept
      Keep your wallet closed when they do something _bad,_ and reward them with money when they do something _good._ THAT IS HOW you change their minds- by withholding or spending your money accordingly.

    Thanks, and great video. Matt Walsh said it best a few years back: "The comic book industry is now run by people who hate us. (Hetero sexual males) Why are we still paying to see work by an industry that hates us?"
    I started collecting comics, both DC and Marvel back in 1974. and stopped and sold them all in 2012. In my letter to the retailer in Texas inside one of the many boxes. I explained how comics help me, a black introverted boy growing up a housing project back in those days. Now, a retired government worker, veteran, entrepreneur, author, married almost forty years, empty-nester for 17 years, comics changed my life, for the better.
    I have come to understand that when I hear people say, "How can Marvel or Disney do this? That its not profitable". they are not doing this to make money; they are doing this to bring about a change in the United States culture. A culture that has a rich history of STRONG, HETEROSEXUAL men. The segment of this culture is a direct THREAT to the agenda of these and other companies and the funding machine behind them.
    Marvel and Disney are being supplemented financially to run that corrupt gambit, and they will win in two ways;
    1. They will stop men from buying comics and thereby prevent young men from growing up to become strong men who fight for justice.
    2. They will DIRECTLY influence the younger generations by removing the hard, in-your-face tactics that true heroes have done for centuries.
    The agenda is simple and two-pronged: To supplant the most popular heroes of all time with women and or feminize them, and to piss off the last generation of men who knew what heroes USED to be like. Either way, they win. Marvel is DEAD, and they couldn't wait until Stan was in the grave to kill it.
    For me, the agenda is highly calculated and evil, pure and simple. Thanks again.

Reynolds made sure it wouldn't be Disney-fied and Iger and Feige are glad it's done so they can get on with other things. The money Disney gets from this is a drop in the bucket. They will be lucky if it offsets one of their bombs. They've had many bombs recently, streaming has lost many billions and linear/cable revenue is dropping every year. This movie won't help them one bit. And I bet that Ryan Reynolds' production company will take a large share of the profits and Disney just gets the rest. Why would Reynolds make this and allow Disney to keep all the money? He's a very smart businessman, I'm sure he gets a deal similar to James Cameron with Avatar.

I remember a lot of people on-line parroting that line uncritically, but even then, something felt off. The pile-on was just a little too much. They seemed just a little too invested in having us hate the guy. Now, looking back, it was clearly a campaign to try to get rid of him. And when you marry the right actor with the right character its movie gold. Robert as Iron Man, Hugh as Wolverine, Chris as Thor, Mark as Luke, Keanu as Neo ... when you get it right franchises are born, but change an iconic character too much miss the mark on the casting or worse appropriate the character take it over and change it to fit the story you want to tell ... the torches and pitch forks are coming out.... one day Disney may learn this lesson

    Ryan and Hugh once again bring their A game. They both take their roles and this project very seriously. Just as no one will ever be better as Logan in Logan, Hugh Jackman has never been better as Wolverine as he is in this movie. He proves once again that he is The Wolverine.
