Hey guys it’s Cole and welcome to my summary of the letter from the producer live part 79 hosted as a part of the Tokyo Game Show 2023… so if you’re wondering why it’s on a Saturday evening well that’s why.
Patch 6.5 is named Growing Light and this being the capstone patch of the Endwalker expansion is divided into two separate parts, the first part will be launched on October 3rd so in a little over a week from now! And then the second part will be launched in January. This coincides with the fanfest dates for EU Fanfest in October and then Japanese Fanfest in January. - Hry

I'm in love with Pictomancer... it has such a chill and laidback flow to it, while still giving the feeling of being busy (but not overly busy). It's the perfect mix between BLM and SMN for me.

love having the action change settings it's honestly something i've wanted for a while since some jobs just feel so bloated when it comes to hotbars.
IM SO HAPPY combos are now one button and so on we needed it badly

Same, I've been playing another MMO that had that since day one and it makes things so much easier to handle. I wonder how they'll manage diverging combo routes though, but maybe they'll just remove them. If they haven't already, iirc it's a tank thing and I'm not sure I've played tank at all in EW.
Edit: wait, SAM is kind of based on that. Maybe there'll be 1 button for each finisher and they all start with the same skill.
I think the condensed action buttons is great for those who play on controller like myself, I made controller work years ago with some effort but allowing you to have 1 button that changes for like he gave an example your 123 combo is amazing.
i play using controller and well i've only played up to stormblood so far, that does sound like a very nice qol change that can especially help free up some space to let some utility skills i dont use too often be more readily available.

Well you already get a free Fantasia for completing ARR's Ultimate Weapon quest. So the addiction is started early. Two if you got the Complete or Heavensward collector's upgrades.

They really messed up the SMN. Well for me it becomes a trend : every three expansions i'm not playing the MSQ as a SMN.
I wish SMN had more diversity in summons too-- but yeah I'm NGL I am obsessed with robot mecha bahamut. XD

Solar Bahamut is probably the union of both Phoenix and Bahamut. Since the lore has locked us out of other primals. It makes sense that the WoL would use what he has available to make something new.
Basically manifesting himself a new primal based on the power his has access to.

Correction on the Fantasia thing: It's not that you have 60 minutes to revert back, its that you have 60 minutes to go back and make further changes. This is also unlimited, you can go back and make even more changes over and over until that 60 minutes is up. Also, since it's in-game time, being logged out/actually in the character creator does not reduce that timer.
is this on every fantasia used on 7.0 onwards?

"Some big ability named End of Heart" They said the English title is Lion Heart. This is Squall's big Limit Break from FF8, it looks like it'll be usable after using Bloodfest (the instant 3 cartridges ability) but cost no cartridges itself.
6:02 For DRG this is incorrect - there will still be positionals in the GCD rotation, they've just reduced them.
It didn't state it, but Chaos Thrust / Chaotic Spring (Combo A third action) should still be a rear positional. Considering it said "fifth combo action", it looks like for your fourth combo action you will still have to do a Wheeling Thrust (rear) or Fang and Claw (flank) per combo before using the fifth action, Drakesbane.
exactly. You do the position for the 4th skill of the combo and the follow up (5th) one will require no different position, previously you had to change, this is now dropped its seems.
I have yet to pick up dragoon but the fact that the move chaos thrust is performed from behind is... Something 😂😂😂

Solar Bahamut is certainly a mystery for many of us. I do have some thoughts and theories as to what is is, how it came to be, and what the intent is. So, like many Summoner mains, I was expecting a new Elder Primal Summon, like Alexander, or Odin. Instead, we get a variant of Bahamut, know as Solar Bahamut.
This would not be the first time that Bahamut has had several forms. Things like Neo Bahamut / Zero from FF7 are certainly one example. I believe this is one such variant, using a precedent set in XIV, with that of Lunar Bahamut, its clear dark counterpart. Lunar Bahamut was born from Meracydians Dragons, tortured under the influence of the Telophoroi and their towers, twisting it into a dark aspected version of the original. I believe that Solar Bahamut is a direct response by us (WoL), by re-envisioning it, fuelled by the aspect of light. I believe this is the first instance of Summoner “creating” their own Summon, using existing Primal Aether within them. This is also I believe, a show of out mastery as a Summoner, by displaying our control over the aether from Primals we have required from across the expansions.
I Also believe that Hydaelyn to be an influence on the appearance of Solar Bahamut. By looking at the attack animations, one of them was using the sigil for “The Blessing of Light”, given to us by Hydaelyn herself, and being tied to the 6 primary elements, as represented by the crystals that occupy the rings within the sigil, whenever the sigil appears in cutscenes. Also, by looking at Solar Bahamut’s design, we see 7 swords making up each wing, making 14 swords in total. 14 swords, 14 shards, not a mere coincidence I believe. I also think it is a nice reflection of everything we have experience from the end of the Shadowbringers Patches, to the end of Endwalker, a lasting reminder of our experiences, represented in a symbolic Primal of our own design.
Of course, I have no idea of this be accurate or not. But these are some things I’ve observed, and while I am disappointed I did not get what I expected to get, I am happy all the same with this new addition, and look forward to summoning Solar Bahamut on my journey in The New World.

The button change is such a godsend. Trying to make my controller cross hotbars work can be rough if my common buttons cant fit in the primary bar.
Less double trigger taps is so appreciated
I really want an ability for pictomancer where you can put like a favorite stamp onto the environment
Like outside of battle, like how hard has a whole instrument panel you can make into a macro and a song in game
Pictomancer and Viper seem like Adv playstyle classes kinda like the old days of Machisit which you needed to play smart and think about what you do. Which I'm happy for cause that type of playstyle keeps me going and doesn't make me want want to sleep

I would make a little correction to the DRG portion. The way you say it makes it sound like Fang and Claw and Wheeling Thrust are going to be removed entirely, but it is just that they both transition to a new skill, rather than transitioning into each other, at the end of the 1-2-3-4-5 combo (just the 5th attack in the combo is changing)
It seemed unclear, but dragoon's drakesbane attack only changes the 5th hit of their combos, the positional is still required for 4th hit
So i'm confused about this action ability combo thing. Right now the experts say not to use macros because potential delays could hurt your dps because of delays. would this have the same problem?

Should be noted that fantasia change isn’t that you simply revert back. You can change your look including race as many times as you want in a 60 min game time period. It’s honestly a fantastic and surprising change.
As one of many who hates the way 6.0 summoner is, I'm so disappointed that we're getting a 3 minute rotation AND we're still stuck with the damn Gemshine moves for 2 and a half more years
Assuming this means Monk will have its Demolish and damage up buff changed to 30s CD's to remove the need for 3-3-2 rotation?
i honestly think twin snakes and demolish will just buff the other raptor and coeurl gcds, and based on the new job gauge, the flow will remain mostly the same. people saying that monk will become a 123 job are out of touch
The red mage change.. I'm on the fence about idk if its good or bad im trying to get my brain to go there in my rotation. And if we have combo actions I wont have the pleasure switching between verflare and verholy. I'm idk.
The hot takes are already exceeding expectations.
They should have an option for AST where you can have the same hand everytime or you can have more cards with different abilities if you choose for them to be randomized.
I am so glad they did the auto combo actions to our hot bars. I've been waiting for this. I figure since they can do it to the scions when we play as them they can just do the same for us and save alot of hotbar space. big thumbs up.

Manafont also giving 3 Umbral Hearts for you to Flare 2 times to max out the new explosion gauge is so good. Not to mention moveable Ley Lines.
But we're stuck spamming Fire IV for 5 expansions in a row now...
And I don't think BLM gets hotbar cleanup/bundling or whatever it is called, unless they combine Blizzard IV and Fire IV into one button depending on the mode you're in, which will free up...1 slot of hotbar (yay...)

Yeah when I saw the design on the smn bar I thought it looked like a horse and that the new big summon would be Odin. We don’t want more Bahamut
I was hoping for the new summons as well, but it would just be an inordinate amount of work on top of building 2 other classes from scratch. Bahamut and Phoenix Demi summons existed in the game prior to EW, they didn’t really have to do much for them in the new SMN. The bulk of rebuilding that class was creating the ifrit/garud/titan summons. Them adding three new summons would have been more work than they’d put into any other class, including the reworks of DRG and AST. They’d be adding 9 new skills (at least), all the animations for them, 3 updated character models, audio for all of it… as much as I wanted it too, it’s a bit of an unrealistic ask for them to be building what is essentially a completely new summoner class every expansion.
I know that lore reasons mean we cant get leviathan, shiva, and ramuh for smn buuuut id like it if we could anyways. At this point we're the ones who are advancing the job stones so theres no reason we cant just get them, or story wise it could just be that wol has made eikons and crystals from their own understanding of the elements instead of fully summoning a primal.

I am trying not to doompost and be hopeful, but after looking at healers changes it became a real challenge. Discouning CD reduction for Swiftcast as general change for all casters - healers got NOTHING class-specific. Only individual changes.
Scholar got White mage Temperance-like ability.
AST got card system reworked AGAIN. So long, astrodynes, it was fun while it lasted. No signs of Time magic anywhere.
Sage got raid wide Kardia and Aero III like ability
White mage got Icarus from Sage.
WHM and SCH got an entire ONE damage ability on 2 min cooldown. Meh. More charges for oGCD heals, shorter oGCD heals. Even more bloated healing kits while still spamming Glareoilificosis. Shadowbringers 3.0, here we go!

"SCH gets a new dot! I'm excited!" Why? You get to use it once every 2minutes. It's an oGCD. You'll get to use it 5 times per fight during your 2 minute burst. You'll still be Broiling 150+ times per encounter, they have solved nothing.

@@ColeEvyx Also, even though the angel form looks cool for scholar it feels out of place because it feels like something that a white mage would have. Instead of an angel form why not give it a fairy form. Ya know the fairy, the thing that makes it unique from the other healers.

@@eolendes6432 personally I would rather the transformation go to the fairy rather than the player cause the fairy is the jobs unique feature. Instead of the player turning into an angel, have the fairy turn into a player sized (not shiva sized) form. With a new outfit of course that’s elegant.

WHM’s new DPS action being locked behind PoM is stupid. It should have been a GCD ability on a 15 or 20 second cooldown.

i guess that would depend on how much damage they are planning it to do, if it is a nuke of blinding light then it kinda make sense but it is definitely weird that PoM is required

It's sad cause I kinda wish I was even more vocal about wanting Noct ast back. I partially did get my hopes up for seeing it.
“The squeaky wheel gets the oil”. An unfortunately small but very vocal part of the player base, that many of whom don’t even really play AST like that, got what they wanted…as they will go on to continue to just play something else.
@@biocajun86A majority of AST players do want it to be more reliable though. Randomness can be fun but it's not as rewarding as playing your cards right so to speak. Also it'll just make more people who were turned off by that mechanic pick it back up

We went from a challenging buff / healer hybrid to a discount whm with a buff window.
Now its just part of the process no longer unique in what it does.

As someone who needs XIVCombo just to play cause of disability, the implementation of it natively is genuinely my favourite thing, they could gut every job and replace them with blue mage with only fish toss and I'd be happy now.

I was scared of the Astrologian rework, I wasnt sure if I'd hate it more than I kinda do bow due to the general pessimism a lot of us Astrologians have(especially the veteran players), but Im starting to feel a mix of that pessimism and slight hope. Atp, Im just ready to test the changes out

2) Pictomancer looks amazing. It looks fun, technical, complex but not too complex. It’s everything that SMN should have been. With that said…
3) why do they hate SMN? We got a new version of Bahamut, but was any SMN main asking for that? SMNs wanted some complexity back, some variation to the rotation (Ramuh, Shiva, Leviathan), if a new Demi then perhaps Odin or Anima. I don’t think a reskin of Bahamut was on any SMNs copium wish list
4) Red Mage makes me so happy. I have zero notes. Some may not like ANOTHER finisher, but it looks so cool that I’m not bothered

Blood weapon and Delirium merged, gap closers removed and 123 consolidated into 1 button.
Gonna be actual brain rot mashing 11111111111111112. All we got was a new animation on Bloodspillers during Delirium and a 2 minute follow up on Living shadow.
Ngl i was hyped when i saw drk doing resolution greatsword from ffxi, but i imagine delirium Will be 60s yawn af, shadow doesnt cost gauge(not that it required Any skill) but wow, are we the dark Warriors? Now easier to play for the babies when it was already easy, random bullshit go again for an expansion 😂 and ofc fkin salt and darkness still lives 🫠

Summoners bahamut, solar, and phoenix
Instead of 60 seconds, i think its going to be 30 seconds between
Paladin needs actions removed it has way more than Gunbreaker to put all the abilities for PLD i need three Ability bars where GNB not only has enough room for all its abilities but i can use sprint all role abilities and Limit break. i removed shirk and arms length and 2 more role abilities i believe everything seems to be working ok.
I also have a sneaking suspicion we will see Harrowing Hell phases more often.
You forgot to mention that not only is Huton's attack speed buff becoming a passive trait, thus causing Huton to just become AOE Suiton, but they had to change Armor Crush/Aeolian Edge to instead use a brand new mechanic **that wasn't explained in the live letter at all** and appears to use a new resource judging by the animations of the trailer.
So your saying Ninja has gone from a buff management job, with Huton, and trick attack.

@@Rill_1 - We have NEVER been a buff management job. We've only ever needed to re-up Huton's attack speed buff once every 30-59 seconds.
Our rdps has ALWAYS been dependent on our 2-minute burst window during Trick+Mug debuffs being timely applied, with our stockpiled Mudra buttons performing said burst.
What's changing is how we manage our basic melee attacks during filler and how our filler is becoming more actively managed than before.

@@EclipseHighrollerThe original card system of HW was STILL RNG. Now we have a stagnant always 1 minute draw or the SAME 3 CARD BUFFS, 1 Heal, 1 Def, 1 Dmg buff.
That’s gonna get stagnant SO FAST, and I see no one talking about the gameplay loop aspect of it!
If they at least did, you draw 3 cards, and EACH CARD IS RANDOM, then that would have been fun! But nope, instead, have the same 3 buffs all the time, have no sigil self buff combo, goodbye Astrodyne.

You're not alone... As a Scholar main one of my biggest concerns is how they handle transofmrations for my character. Like if I go from Hrothgar to small girl... I'll definitely be put off.

I think the seraphim spell could have just been an upgraded version of Dissipation instead forcing a new spell, especially when the dissipation is like you eating the fairy and taking its power and boosting your healing too. I rather not change into an angel, what if I like my glam? why not just make glowing fairy wings like temperance but fairy themed but keeping my glam? Also I am pretty sure those wings looks identical to the archangel gold wings fashion accessory from the Gold Saucer and outfit looks like the healer set from Aglaia AR from endwalker😅…
Maybe during the seraphim transformation, succor and Adlo could be instant cast, which would be helpful and can compete with sage’s mobility with Eukraisia prognosis.

Yeah summoner looks like they barely did anything with it. On top of that the animations look weak. Super big bummer. AST also looks like it got shafted, and idk things like NIN abilities becoming traits is just more homogenization. I could go on but you get it rip.
Finally, that PvP Action Change Setting is in PVE, took them long enough, it saves so much space on the bar, and gives more options going forward for more skills. The complete gutting of RNG from Astrologian, is on point with Yoshi Ps continued crusade in homogenization of all classes. Absolutely terrible idea, which will lead to the eventual death of this game. Classes/battle play is one of the main pillars of how players interact with this game, by destroying that via simplification/homogenization, you have in essence, ripped out a giant part of the body, which means the bloodloss will take over in due time.

The action skill change is NOT affecting your 1, 2, 3 skill combos.
It affects the skills/Spells that turn into other skills/spells during certain conditions.
slight easier rotations, but battles will probably get more complex, movement-wise too..,
...
so, slightly easier jobs, but slightly harder battles (boss battles)
