    Getting rid of the target requirement for BRD songs is HUGE. You literally couldn't get a song up during boss invuln phases because there was no one to target.

      Arguably the single best change that ever happened to bard. Then again, songs shoulda never been changed to abilities in the first place. That said, having to optimize the song rotation based on boss timing did separate the good bards from the great ones. But overall just grateful that they are actually listening to their player base.

    Your 'I'm not certain what the purpose of this is' for bard was at a strict opposition to the 'OH MY GOSH NOW I DON'T LOSE MY ROTATION FOR THE NEXT TWO MINUTES IF THE BOSS DISAPPEARS' I heard from the bards popping my ears!
    As a summoner who likes phoenix for healing (I was a healer main before) I am WEEPING of the loss of every other phoenix :(

      Meh, shouldn't even have to rely on Phoenix for healing. They should replace Physick with a Carbuncle Heal that isn't tied to any rotation.
      I wanted Leviathan :( I'm in disbelief they went with a 2nd Bahamut. Even though it's a much better looking one~ never been a fan of current design. But coulda just made it a glam.

      @@WolfDoggie I was really hoping they added something that changed your Titan / Ifrit / Garuda rotation to a Leviathan / Shiva / Ramuh rotation, and vice versa.

      ​@@WolfDoggieYeah, I'm honestly really disappointed they just slapped a different skin on a summon we already have and called it a day. No summons that we've already seen and have been asking for for years, just a lazy reskin.
      It doesn't even make sense from a lore perspective either, not that that matters any more I guess since we're also doing away with job specific quests. Before, our summons came from primals we've defeated before, and now instead of getting any of the summons we've defeated before, we get one we've never seen and likely won't even get backstory for?? At least Phoenix has the excuse that you could go off and do Coils at some point for it to make sense.

      ⁠​⁠@@randonologic4684 Same. Lore wise we’re able to summon them cause we were exposed to their aether. Why can’t we do the same with Leviathan, Shiva, and Ramuh? Just make it every other minute like the Demi summons.

    quick extra note, DRK and GNB got their movement abilities changed to not deal damage anymore, similar to the DRG change. these two tanks were the busiest in terms of button presses so i guess this change was meant to reduce that

      People who play these jobs play them for their high APM..

    Machinist just keeps getting more bad ass. He summoned a fighting robot then pulled out 2 huge turret guns and a flying robot and launched like 20 homing missiles. I love it.

      ​@fixo5132 would be interesting to redo the job quests of AST and see how the lore explains the new system. I remember that the job changed the explanation of Redraw from Shadowbringers when you had 3 charges of it to the one Clarifying Draw you got in DT and the job quests explained both in those expansions in a way that made sense. To me at least.

    As always I waited to hear from you rather than others. I was not disappointed. I play the Dancer and your comment on the Viper as a "Melee Dancer" took me from not really interested to "I have to check this out". Please continue to keep us well informed.

    For viper
    - basic 3 part combo. Left/right weapon skills. R1 gives debuff, L2 gives dmg up, R2 gives haste, L3/R3 gives finisher buff. The next combo finisher has to end with whatever icon of the finisher buff you get from previous combo.
    - double blade combo has 2 charges. Each charge leads to 2 3 part combos. After performing both combos it gives you a red gem
    - red gem is used to spend on a 3 part ranged combo (possibly aoe)
    - super saiyan cost 50 gauge. The 2 minute buff gives you free use of super saiyan and 1 red gem

    Second new Bard ability looks like an upgraded version of Bloodletter. Having the damage and target component removed from songs is great for ensuring you are always gaining song gauge even when an enemy is not present which is great. As for the Straight Shot and Shadowbite ready statuses being combined that's a big win because it allows Shadowbite to be combined with Barrage at will which was a major pain during AoE situations. No longer do we have to fish for Shadowbite procs just to use Barrage on multiple targets. I was hoping for an improved version of Sidewinder but it could still see a damage increase I suppose, we'll have to see.

    Oof, Solar Bahamut seems like such a misstep. People have wanted more of the primals to make appearences for forever, so they are adding a new primal and... it is another Bahamut? Seems like this is getting a pretty negative response just for the missed chance. I know the people who comment are more likely the negative crowd but just... why not anything else?

      Lorewise it doesn't make sense for summoners to get things like ramuh or levi anymore. We learned back in HW that summoner job stones are limited to only 3 egi, literal job quest where we try to get ramuh and it fails because of this. We then learn of more advanced forms of summoning being trance leading into the demi-summons, and go straight for the big boy bahamut. So any further summons we get have to be demi summons, not egis, but it makes no sense to obtain demi-summons that are weaker than bahamut. Any demi-summon obtained has to be an upgrade over bahamut both in terms of lore and in gameplay otherwise those summons would be a literal downgrade to use. Things like alexander, shinryu, possibly the warring triad or even the highly unlikely Zod/Hyd would be potential candidates for being at least on the same level Bahamut, but the others just wouldn't make sense.
      Which isn't to say that I like it either. I've always thought that it would be really cool if after summoning phoenix we used the 3 gems to summon ramuh, levi and shiva (while still using Ifrit/titan/garuda after bahamut), even if they were functionally just the other 3 with different animations. It would feel a lot more varied and seem more complete, having an egi for all 6 elements. But, to do that, they would need to rewrite the existing summoner lore and retcon all of the summoner job quests in HW and SB.

      @@phiefer3 I mean... they can retcon things. They have done so for many other jobs. It isn't great to constantly retcon major things, but if they just added a "Oh wow, we figured out how to get more summons" then I think most people would be fine with it.

      @@phiefer3 you don't need to retcon for a breakthrough inside lore for it to change its own rules. "Hey we discovered this cool thing that lets you summon Ramuh" and that's it. It's a game, not real life, you can literally put anything in it and it can make all sense in the world without having to be retcon.

    As someone who plays summoner quite a bit I feel like this was a missed opportunity to add Shiva instead of adding a new bahamut or the solar model should have replaced the old Bahamut.
    Or…., hear me out add Shiva, Ramuh, and Leviathan but treat summons like the blue mage where you choose this primal the other one goes on CD. It allows variation at the same time with not messing with the core rotation.

      Why are so many summoners obsessed with the ARR primals? Who wants old, irrelevant primals as their summons? Give us something new and cool. You instead are pulling up to the rave party with 60's music.
      Btw, mods....? Summoner might be the most modded job out there with plenty of different summons to fit whatever fantasy you can dream of.

    Small note about red mage. Using resolution (leaning towards this) or finishing a combo under manafication grants the rdm with the "4th finisher". The "4th Finisher" is actually an ogcd granted by one of these 2 conditions i mentioned earlier. You can see the buff status (gained) effect after they press resolution. You can also see it grants no black or white mana. SE just demonstrated it poorly but the job is probably a bit busier now with some new opti tools if the ogcd is magic based.

      Sadly i hoped they added Ramuh, Leviathan, and Shiva. They could of did a simple trick by making garuda change to Ramuh when
      Titan Change to Leviathan, Ifrit change to Shiva
      Solar Bahamut is a waste he looks cool but was not needed and they could of added Eden there instead.
      Then they could of added a personal one that would of surprised ppl but can only be used after stacks of Aether on a new Aether bar and it allows you to summon Knights Of the Round table. Which does a cool animated attack which would only be able to be pulled off in battle once because of how high stacks needed.
      I feel like I have more ideas but they wouldn't listen anyways.

    As a DRG main, i don't want to lose a Jump for a Dash. It's what we know and do best! People jump ahead to enemies because its cool and fun. Getting replaced by a dash is just super sad

    without seeing the new kit it's hard to say for certain, but based on the current kit, changing swift cast to 40 seconds won't really impact summoner at all. in order to maximize your damage, you have to use swift cast on slipstream to capture it under the searing light buff. So unless someone needs a raise during the very specific timeframe between it coming off cooldown, but not less than 40 seconds before you need to use it on slipstream, and while you're not in bahamut/phoenix mode, I don't see summoners using this much more for raises.
    also I'm not sure that summoner got its garuda/titan/ifrit window reduced. you can see in the benchmark that they didn't use up all the gem charges, they also didn't use any of the astral flow abilities or show bahamut, so it would seem that they just didn't show off all the summoner's kit. I would assume the rotation will be that you'll always be in solar bahamut for burst windows (if they continue with the two minute window) and that you'll alternate between phoenix and bahamut in the 60 second off windows

    The changes to MNK, AST and potentially BLM all feel like they are standardizing jobs that had more flexable or 'priority based' rotation decisions. I... hate that?
    I don't know how each of these will play, and there are a lot of changes I see that I like... but I think these are changing core things about the classes that some players think is important about their fav jobs.

    Glad to see that Bard changes. Bard mains needed that Songs change.
    Also for the first new skill "the jumping green arrows" I hope that this is an ability we can use in the Army's Paeon Song, because every song has it's unique ability activated, e.g Wanderer's Minuet has Pitch Perfect, Mage's Ballad has Bloodletter and for Army's Paeon maybe now a new skill.

    I don't main Dragoon, but changing one of their jumps to a dash seems to go against the feeling of the job. Dragoon = jump high to me.

      I am Drg main and yea…. Thats the normal jump being taken away. There’s an aoe jump with a way longer cooldown but….this stinks.

      100% agree. Spineshatter Dive is probably my favourite action of the job and so I'm sad they're taking it away, it's part of the core-fantasy of the job! How else am I supposed to fight (for and against) dragons if I can't leap on top of them?

    I’m curious about astro mp management now. The current card system helps maintaining healthy mp quite a bit. I’m very keen to see how this new card system plays out though, not having astro signs is a good change i think.

      agree.. usually astrodyne was my mp goto but its gone now. cards gave 500 mp per draw, but now the ‘draw’ is per minute

      @@f117nighthawk2 even if they double up the mp gain every draw uses, i think it’s gonna feel a bit worse than 500mp every 30s. Though if they moved it to play for the mp gain then that’s a good move.

    I really liked SHB Astro. I was hoping it would return to the Astrologian's Sects, Diurnal and Nocturnal. I felt it gave more options depending on what job the other healer in your raid is

    My guess is that the RMD does not get an extra finisher, but the final attack is just the upgraded version of Contre de Sixte that they kept for the end.

    Giant HAMMER, yes! I'm not even a WAR main, but I saw that and was like "BIGGEST axe?!". Then I watched a bunch of content creator impressions and NONE OF THEM seemed to care. They were just so focused on other Jobs or things as mechanically as possible. "So, WAR's rotation looks unchanged. Okay, moving on..." and I was like "BUT BIG AXE...!?!?!"

    Honestly SUPER excited for Viper!! I like the idea of a “fast-paced melee dancer” and it seems like more of a technical job where you have to determine what’s better to use in a given situation. The opener will likely be set in stone, but from there on there likely won’t be a standard rotation and you’re instead rewarded for being able to adapt well to what buffs/debuffs are currently in play. This is just my take on Viper and I could very well be wrong, but the aesthetics and gameplay really have me enraptured. I can’t wait!!!

    I wonder how the AST cards will work. If i draw 3 of the usual cards at once, does that mean I have to cast one before the other...
    Like, what if I dont want to use my heal buff card but it happens to be first in the list, do i have to cast that heal card before i can get to the 2nd one in the deck?

      After re watching the job action trailer, it seemed for both sets of cards drawn, the dps got the first card, followed by the heal effect, then the mitigation card was used at the end. It's unclear yet if you'll be able to cycle through which card effect you want to use first, but it would be nice.

    I main SCH and it does look like Adlo and Succor getting an animation upgrade finally. Reduce cooldown to recitation is a nice change. I can see them replacing Dissipation with their costume change ability, which buffs Emergency Tactics via Adlo and Succor to be instant cast now. That is huge to me. Not much excited for chain follow-up with that AoE DoT. I can see it as a.....somewhat a comeback to Shadowflare back in the day. It's a ok addition though. I don't care much about SCH being flash. My whole idea for the job is to have more utilities that helps the party's survivability

    Warrior seems to be getting an upgrade to Decimate that gives it a Fell Cleave-like effect as well, seen at 2:44 in the Job Actions video.

      I assume you meant 1:44, as 2:44 is in the middle of the drk section. Also no, there's no upgrade to decimate. As he said in the video (which was also specifically stated in the live letter), war is getting a new action that is available after using your 3 fel cleaves/decimates during inner release, that's the thing with the rock spikes coming up and exploding. As well as another new action that's a followup to primal rend.
      The only other noteworthy things from the trailer is the new animations for vengeance and inner chaos, as well as the fact that we may be able to use infuriate outside of combat again (it's difficult to tell if he's already in combat at the start or not). Also, the fact that infuriate is apparently the only "press for 50 gauge" button that wasn't changed to just make your next gauge action free (not that war really has an issue with overcapping, just weird that they'd make such a general design change and leave 1 action out).

    Summoner feels good right now. Summon get their abilities rinse repeat….not it feels like we are moving to just spam summon with less eikon abilities to use. Also why give us a bahamut variant? Alexander, leviathan, or Ramuh would have been cool. Over all really disappointed with summoner for dawntrail.

    I felt the exact opposite about viper and pictomancer. I feel like they explained viper better. With the way they set up the bars, it looks exactly like how I would set up mine with the AOE on one side and single target on the other. Then when multiple buttons light up, you pick what one to use based on if you are multi target or single target, and what buff you are under. It will take practice to recognize the buffs, and which skills go with which buffs, but the concept itself is pretty simple. I imagine in raid you'll want to go double-bladed right away, and get into Reawakened asap to burst, and then you'll have to come back to dual blade to build back to double bladed and then reawakened again for burst phase etc.
    Pictomancer... I have no idea what the rotation is. They showed us how to do each of the renders, and obviously the landscape one being the party buff, you'll want to do that for raid buff windows, but like... are the other 2 motifs burst? Is your paint gauge at max your burst? What goes where when? It's not clear at all.

    On the BRD the big red arrow is most likely upgraded... stack cooldown arrow. I forget it's name atm. Bloodletter?

      I thought so too but it looks like Bloodletter is still in the game too, it's used at some point. You can kinda tell because if Bloodletter the Bard releases the arrow instantly, but here there's some kinda wind-up?

    This isn't really something new for expansion releases. Just about every expansion tends to have significant changes, additions, or even subtractions to either add to the job, ease the flow of the jobs performance, or in some cases entirely revamp the job.
    Sometimes I look forward to the changes, but other times I tend to be less receptive of the changes about to come. I still wish they would work on some of the meter based jobs to allow them to build it similar to how mnk or sam can during transitions, but at least some of the changes are taking into consideration that not having it for a burst window was an issue, sometimes significant issue, once the transition was over, either that or get rid of phase transitions.

    I am a little skeptical about SGE kardion and soteria. I feel they are kinda useless trait and abilities. I don’t see a significant change in healing while nuking mobs, and even while using Soteria, I end up using burst healing and shields, anyways, so, I hope that these changes make a difference
    About AST, my ex-main healer, I was like “again all three cards?”. I hope it’s a good change , let’s see how it plays out. I wonder if they kept Exaltation. I also think the post-healing effect is useless after a tank buster or something, because of the burst healing after a one of those abilities, I think the healing effect was wasted. Besides that, loved that other new effects ! The solar system and the twelve signs ability were awesome

    My whm liked presence of mind + holy since it was the only AOE. This new spell is nice. My smn is gonna miss the second phoenix as mentioned, hopefully solar Bahamut makes up for it. My nin also was large bullfrog! I like my whm wings already! I use it a lot in Bozjan front. That's a pretty sweet dot on sage! Seems unbalanced to me compared to the other healers for aoe dmg. I like your DNC "click the glowy button" comment. I hadn't seen many DNC until this current crossover. I wish we were getting Time Mage. The game really doesn't use debuffs as good as FF 11 did.

    I think your DRK information is a little outdated.
    Since endwalker, delirium only gives 3 casts of bloodspiller. It gave 5 in shadowbringers. Under delirium, these bloodspillers restore mp. They restore more mp and blood gauge under the 5 stacks of blood weapon, and since the effects are combined, that's exactly what's happening. This upgrade is only an animation (and presumably potency) change, similar to pld atonements.
    The benchmark datamine makes it seem like bloodspiller is going to turn into this combo under delirium, so more than likely the execution is going to be the exact same as in endwalker with one new gcd (the living shadow finisher) just like paladin.

    People complaining they took the complexity out of monk are deciding themselves if they thought it used to be complex or difficult. There was no variation. Everyone of em looked up the guide and the opener and monk was as rigid as any other class. This just removes the disguise.

      hmm, i kind of agree with that. you cycle through your 3 forms. You use twin snakes every other cycle, domolish every 2, and swap between boot shine and dragon kick every cycle. perfect balance was the only time this has changed when going for your "purple token".

      ​@@FragileEgo Judging by the job gauge, Monk will still have most of the optimal drift flowchart to only do buffed Raptor + Coerul attacks and maximize leaden fist bootshines during Riddle of Fire.
      The way I read the gauge is that Dragon Kick, Twin Snakes, and Demolish will refill each form's job gauge, buffing Bootshine, True Strike, and Snap Punch at the cost of that form's job gauge pip.

      Like, it would suck if they took mudras away and just let you cast the ninjutsu as their own button. Is it more work to execute the mudra combos? Yes, but doing these small tasks and being rewarded is what makes games fun

      I figured some people might be sad. However, I HATED Huton management. Ninja already has the fun complexity of the ninjutsu system--Huton was just a maintenance ability that that took away from an already burst window-dependent job.
      I'm excited to see what being free of the Huton wheel could mean for the job outside of the burst window. It would be nice to be viable through all phases, instead of just burst and then fuck all until the next window.✌😅

      Is it really "interesting gameplay" or even remotely "spicy" to be in a dungeon with 2 Ranged dps and only ever draw Melee cards? Functionally it doesn't add any complexity or difficulty to the run, just makes you, the player, feel slightly less efficient than you could have been because you just happened to be unlucky that run. RNG isn't inherently bad, but acting like the way it was implemented in AST somehow made up the core of it's identity really makes me think yall either don't like or understand AST as a job, or gameplay in XIV in general lol

      The RNG for the cards IS a core game play mechanic for reasons both challenging game play and learning curve but also the fantasy of it.
      Game play like SB you had different cards and you had to learn what to royal road, what to reroll, what to toss and what you can work with. You had options you just had to reach them.
      Fantasy wise, you're getting your magic from the bloody stars, astrology, but also Time, its a determination of your past present and future like tarot cards and its always stagnant one DPS, one DEF, one Curative then what's the point?
      I have been playing since it came out and loved the quests enjoyed the lore and had a lot of fun with it.. So I would say if you don't understand that is IS a core element of the AST game then it seems like you don't understand AST as a job. Just because every other class is consistently simple doesn't mean this one has to be.
      Every class has something about them that makes them different, and now AST is relegated to a 60 second same card draw cool down. You're essentially a SCH with aetherflow but heal like a whm and some delayed heals.. congrats.

      Functionally, all it was was a 1 in 2 chance to get the same type of buff that limited who you used it on. There were pretty much only two cards. The RNG truly mattered for astrodyne where you could get randomly screwed out of the beneficial effects.

    It looks like for MNK, the equivalents for Leaden Fist, Disciplined Fist, and Demolish are now shown in the job gauge, and the gems match up with how often MNK currently upkeeps those buffs with their default GCD.
    If I had to guess, each pip of each form will give a potency buff to the respective form's alternate attack (bootshine, true strike, and snap punch) just the way Leaden Fist currently does.
    I prefer having the job gauge to keep track of the state of MNK's rotation than having to glance at my buffs and my targets debuffs.
    MNK's off-minute rotation will be less strict because they don't need to have Disciplined Fist and Demolish active before spamming Opo-Opo attacks.
    The job gauge will make it easier to set up MNK's Brotherhood window using exclusively buffed attacks from each form and one or two Dragon Kicks, regardless of Skillspeed. (DoT is very weird in FFXIV, damage ticking on the enemy's HoT/DoT tick, not the debuff's timer, so MNK always refreshes Demolish before perfect balance to not lose a DoT tick).

      Only using thunder prog and paradox in ice phase and then fire 3 (for the cast time) into fire is another if I remember right (haven’t played in a while).

    My biggest worry with the new Scholar transformation is how it looks on some races. Just from this clip, it looks awful on the miqote. Imagine any other race besides elezan and hyur. Horns, ears, tails GONE with a very unappealing (20 second) robe.
    The wings also look unnaturally bad. I think ive seen better wing accessories in the wild than that.
    But ill reserve my opinion until more info comes back. Perhaps this is just a beta version before it gets better.

    we have very much since shadowbringers asked to have this aspect of our rotation changed to be more about attacking our foes, instead of being relying applying a dot and a buff to ourselves.
    heck some mnk players even found rotations that don't use snake-strike.

    People who complain about BLM's changes are people who don't deal with ping issues. That's literally the very reason they decided to change how BLM gets MP. Due to how problematic server ticks can be. I'm super happy with all the changes, in all the jobs. My only nitpick is that Viper's colors are not red, as I hoped it would be, but rather blue again. There's too much blue already! GNB, SMN, DRG, some PLD skills, some WHM skills. Why blue again, Yoshi-P?! 😆

      Ignore them some have good complaints within reason and some hate that others will play it now and they can't have some sort of elitism to feel special. When its just a game. I appreciate them removing DRG postionals that is all I needed to main that job now.

    Personally, I don't like the look of pictomancer. Seems complicated and a wasted job. They have not talked about the beast master at all and personally, I think THAT should have been the new main class, not a fancy painter >.>

      Kinda agree but I'm sure once were able to play it it will seem easier. But I really thougt we would be drawing more monsters I think only drawing parts of moogles is extremely lame

    The people freaking out about the changes need to be put in perspective... These people are assuming the class will work in a similar way, but with these announced changes... Like, blm... "Oh god, they're going to make us cast ice spells?! THEY RUINED THE CLASS! BOO!" Okay, but what if the ice spells are worth casting? Is it still ruined? We literally played AROUND umbral phase in EW. With transpose, instant procs, and paradox we literally avoided using ice spells at all basically....
    it was literally a dps increase to skip casting Blizzard 4, stack sps and just burn Fire 4s into a despair, transpose, paradox, filler instants, transpose, fire 3 proc (if available) then fire 4 spam into despair again. We literally eliminated casting Fire 1s, Blizzard 4s, blizzzard 3s.... The only thing we did that was remotely "ice" like was Paradox while in Umbrail Ice to get to 2 stacks so we could get enough MP lol. Literally only used Fire 3, Fire 4, Despair, Xeno, Lightning 4, and paradox... making our weakest hit just shy of 500 potency, but making the rotation just dumb.
    Any change they makes that removes that ridiculous optimization which eliminated many of your spells is fine by me.
    Saw people freaking out about the Monk changes, even had people crying about "class fantasy" ?!?!?!?! What? What part of a monk sounds like it should be maintaining a dot and a buff? It should be hitting thinks with fists.... I HATED the fantasy of a monk relying on a dot. I am so excited to see a monk class that will (hopefully) play like a damn monk!
    Samurai, reaper, and dragoon changes are nifty but smaller than I expected. It mostly seems like QoL stuff, and the occasional shiny new thing.
    The Tanking changes are pretty meh, making drk and gnb a bit less hectic is good... Pally changes are basically a zero, but we just got a recent rework so its fine. Warrior stuff is just an extra button on the back end of the burst, but I guess thats really all it needed. Felcleave was fun, but it just didn't hit like a 10-tonze hammer.
    I imagine the blm finisher after 6 Fire 4s is actually just a new Despair... Which is cool.
    I believe the summoner rotation is Solar -> Regular -> Solar -> Phoenix. Meaning our opener and even minute bursts are now solar bahamut... and our odd number bursts rotate between phoenix and bahamut. Basically, phoenix and bahamut are now just odd minute fillers to get to the even burst... and our fillers change color from blue to red
    Red mage is pretty meh, I've never been a huge fan and now its hefty finisher combo is just hefty-er and finisher-y-er...
    If you want something to be upset about, be upset about the healer changes. THEY REMOVED AERO 3 YEARS AGO!!! Now they are giving it back to SAGE?! WHY?! Aero 3 was my favorite spell! GIVE IT BACK! Anywho... AST changes are probably cool, and people are freaking out about that a LOT. I think it will make it much more playable (and by that I mean it will make ASTs in random groups less terrible)

      Yeah at least when it comes to Job changes, i'm very disapointed. Yet everyone seems to cheers ... I guess hype blinds people. The game is gonna be so stale after a few weeks when people realise the jobs didn't change at all. Not saying it should change every expansion : don't fix it if it ain't broke . But the Jobs ARE broken. Healers numbers is at an all time low, same thing for Tanks. People wanted drastic change. Nothing happened.

      ​@@fixo5132this team is all about making execution in combat way easier. It's unfortunate that the highlights of the majority of jobs were "we gave them a finisher attack and updated the animations of attacks you used multiple times in a row so you feel like you're doing something new". I was really disappointed when I realized their solution to tanks feeling the same was just giving everyone except WAR a confetior combo.... and SAM seems near identical with just an animation update and shadowbringers Senei/Guren in a new form.
      I think some jobs made it out good. Seems like MNK will change pretty drastically, NIN will play a little different, and AST got an interesting rework.

      Oh yeah an entirely new expansion with multiple new huge sprawling locations, changes to every job, 2 brand new jobs, an addition to one of the races, a HUGE graphical overhaul, plus everything they haven't yet shown us because of spoilers... all while maintaining and providing regular updates for an MMO that has been hit with heavy DDoS attacks for the last several weeks.
      Yeah, DEFINITELY wouldn't take 3 whole years to do ALL of that. That's like what, a months worth of work, tops? I am clearly very smart and know a lot about game design. /s

      @@keppakappa5033 Not even including the QoL changes we've gotten and all the post expansion content, in which case we're bound to get regular MSQ, dungeons trials, extremes, savages + ultimates, field operation, planetary exploration, beast master and more blue mage and varient dungeons.. literally the most content heavy expansion with better graphics as well lol

    As a BLM main that didn't use the double transpose lines, I still hate this. Removing skill expression sucks. And even without non-standard play there's skill in simply understanding the flow of a job. Did they ruin BLM? No. But they did make it less interesting. Well played Square. Boo this change. Booooooo!

      ​@@NimRyo non-standard isn't anything to do with ice mage/blizzard spam.
      standard BLM rotation refers to using blizzard 3 and fire 3 to switch between fire and ice phases. non-standard uses transpose weaved after instant-casts to skip weaker spells, giving a small damage boost. It's a big reason why BLM had a higher skill ceiling and more depth than other jobs. Optimal play involved learning non-standard lines, and now they're being removed.

      ​@@fishtrekgames Yeah it's called an optimal playstyle/rotation. Of course jobs heavily change their optimal rotation depending on the encounter but the way this game is designed is so that there is only one optimal way to play a certain job. Anything outside of this is by definition non standard play. So yes, ice mage would fall into this category and so would any other way to play blm that isn't the optimal way.
      I don't think ffxiv is for you in the first place if you are looking for skill expression. The game and it's jobs are very linear. Everyone who plays a certain job will go though the exact same progression and reach the exact same end. Once you reached the job's peak output you can't get any more out of it than that.
      It's like building a lego set. There is the instructions you follow to build the set the intended way or you can just build whatever you want with the provided pieces. Like ice mage, you've been given these tools but decided to not use them or in a different manner to its intended usage. If you do the former though you will end up with the same set as everyone else aka the linear aspect of ffxiv jobs.
