    My main problem with the 6.8 spc is that reloading does not use a commonly available cartridge or bullet VERY EXPENSIVE which is fine for specialized hunting but not very universal... unlike 6.5 grendel ...

    I have a 6 arc and a 6.5 Grendel. Love ‘Em both. There’s a local farmer around me that pays me to go out at night and take some hogs out that attack the cattle. He also reloads. What sucks about the 6 arc is there are only 3 factory loads and all of them is shitaday. I got tons of reloading stuff and if you put 6.5 Grendel brass in a 6 arc die you get more 6 arc brass. Just got 100 reloads from him too

    You didn't mention 350 legend as another straight wall cartridge option.

    350 Legend and 300 Ham'r are two "newer" great cartridges for shooting hogs. And hopefully soon there will be available AR barrels for the 400 Legend, should be a great hog cartridge.

    Hey guy's you missed a very good one that should be more popular than it is. The 25- 45 Sharps from the Sharps rifle company. It is the balistic twin of the 6.5 Grendel but uses 5.56 brass and bolt. I have loaded 80 grain ttsx to 2900 fps, 100 grain tsx and 110 grain FTXs to 2700 fps, 117 grain sst to 2650 fps and 120 grain Grand Slam to 2500 fps. I used Ram Tac powder with cci 41 primers and the top loads were compressed. They are easy to form from 5.56 brass in one step. Right now only Federal and Sharps are making ammo for it but they are extremely easy to reload.

      Hi, would this mean that this ammo could be used straight of my AR-15, or it would require a bolt? upper receiver?

    • @bryanshull372
      @bryanshull372 Před rokem +1

      @@jasito2005 just a barrel. I recommend the longer barrel for velocity. They sell complete uppers with their enhanced bolt but my runs fine a standard bolt. They also sell complete rifles but I just bought the barrel because I had an upper I wasn't using.

      I really liked the concept of 25-45 Sharps when it came out. But ammo availability kept me from going with it. Along the same concept I think there is a better 5.56 case based AR cartridge, the 300 Ham'r. I use it for shooting hogs here in Texas and I like the heavier bullets it can use over the 25-45 Sharps. Also the 350 Legend is very effective on hogs.

      @@EC-mc7vg I don't know anything about the 300 hammer except isn't it a hybrid of the AR 15 and 10? Meaning parts are not interchangeable like on the AR 15 platform. There are a few videos on 25-45 Sharps taking hogs and deer and the seem to get very dead. I will be deer hunting with mine this year as I just built it over the off season. My loadings run from 80 grain ttsx at 3k fps to 120 grain speer hot core at around 2500 fps. According to balistic data they all hold enough velocity and energy for deer out to 250 to 300 yards. This is more than enough for me as I seldom get shots past 100 yards. Factory ammo availability is not an issue for me because I have lots of 5.56/223 brass and it is an easy step up to reload them to 25-45 sharps. I don't like the idea of milling out the bolt face to fit the larger cases. That weakens the design and they break bolt lugs if preassure or timing gets off. The fatter cases that maintain the 5.56 bolt face I like but there are sometimes feeding issues.

      From my experience with 350leg, it is all related to the magazines available.
      The feeding issue presents itself when the magazine follower tilts, usually when you are close to empty on the magazine.

      I'm gonna have to respectfully disagree with you there, though I would agree that the Military should move away from it for a more powerful, better intermediate cartridge. But I would like to hear you thoughts as to why you think .223/5.56 is a failure
