This is our trawler life story.
We retired early and decided to make a big change. We sold everything and moved aboard our 54' Cheoy Lee passagemaker, a “go anywhere in the world”, ocean going power boat.
That was in 2014 and we have never looked back.
Now in our late 50's we are free of work and we are living aboard and cruising our trawler full time.
We have two additional crew members, feline brothers, Blake and Barkley. Yes, we have two brave (sorta) boat cats, on board!
Join us and our crew, on our adventures as we explore new places, discover more about our trawler and what makes her work, and learn more about ourselves in our young retirement years. Our hope is to entertain and inspire you to pursue your own passions through telling our story of our cruising trawler lifestyle.
Thanks for watching, subscribing, and liking Cruising Sea Venture!
Best, Jim, Rosy, Blake and Barkley

Good luck on your new adventure
Amazing adventure. Always love your videos. Safe travels. Thanks for sharing.
So glad to see you guys back! A buddy and I just brought our boat up from SF to Everett. I'm curious about your watch schedule at night and what you've found works best for you two.
Bryan, Thanks for watching! At night one of us goes to sleep with no alarm. When we naturally wake up we switch. If the person on watch is getting tired then we can wake the one sleeping up, but we have not had to do this. We found waking to an alarm clock in the middle of the night makes you exhausted. Hope that helps, Jim
Enjoyed the video, beautiful sunset near the end.
Been waiting for that big left turn for a while. Keep ‘em coming Rosie and Jim!
Thanks for the patience! You will see a video each week now until we are current! We are currently cruising past Morro Bay and will be in Santa Barbara in a couple of days.
@@CruisingSeaVenture Yes you are. Just checked you out on AIS. Be safe!
I enjoy watching your videos. Your channel was the very first channel I ever subscribed to. What’s your next stop after Ventura? James
We are headed to Newport tomorrow for a night, then on to Dana Point for 4 nights then San Diego for a few nights before heading into Mexico on the 25th. Thanks for watching, Jim
Thanks for allowing us to follow your adventures. Safe travels.
looking forward to the net episode. cheers
fuel up in Oregon before you come to California, diesel is terribly expensive
We have very long range. - 4,300 NM. - we will next fuel up late this year in Mexico, where fuel is running about $4 a gallon.
Exciting! Sounds like those engines are just humming along.
Glad you're back and I'm vicariously traveling with you on your adventures. Safe travels to you and the fur babies. 🐈🐈
Very excited to follow along as you travel south. Did you think about stopping in Brookings or other port along the way to give yourselves a break?
Our key was to stay in the good weather window. Stopping requires crossing bars at high water slack, so they have to be timed ti cross and then you run the risk of being stuck waiting for another weather window, so for us, as long as the weather window remained favorable we continued. As it happened we rode it all the way into San Francisco. Thanks for watching, Jim
@@CruisingSeaVenture - Thanks for explaining the thinking/planning behind that.
You guys are great teachers! Thank you so much for letting me ride along. I'm to old and way to broke to do it myself. I loved three bulbous nose videos you explained it so well. Safe journeys kids, I love your kitty's too.
good for both of you... no fear... you're always healthy and safe
This is soooooooooooo awesome guys!!! We're all so excited to be going along with you guys!! This is the part I've been waiting for!!!😁😁😁
Brought a 47’ motor sailor up from SF to Westport in 2017.
Love Port Townsend and Port Angeles! Enjoy 😊
Safe travels!
Looking good!
Safe travels
Is this video from 2021 ? A year ago? I thought you said that year in the last Couple videos.
Yay! We have been waiting for this one for a while. Safe travels around Point Conception!
Just rounded Cape Conception. Calm seas. Paravanes are not even in the water.
love your videos.
God bless you both.I love all that you share. And can't wait to see what's next:) Sea venture and MV Freedom are the two I look forward to see first:) Then the rest of my boat videos:) God speed .
So this is 11 months behind. Why the delay?
Hi Joe, we were having fun doing some other stuff while the boat sat in San Francisco and we just did not get around to the editing. For us, the videos are a hobby, so we try not to stress about it. We are now cruising down the Calif. Coast and will keep putting out videos weekly until they are current - then we will have another break in videos while we wait for the end of hurricane season to continue south to La Paz. Thanks for watching.
Lekker man lekker 🇿🇦
Brilliant another episode. Mildred! Grab my pipe and watchin slippers. There's something to see over here.
Wow, first to comment. Can't wait to watch the video.
Oh! So much to talk about. What was the price to fill up? Can you make it to SF on one tank? Would love to see the stars from the yacht in the pitch black. Also would love to see the phosphorescence from the fish. Never seen that before except from prop watch. Have a super safe trip.
Sea Venture holds 2,300 gallons of fuel. We can go 4,300 miles without fueling. We will fuel up sometime late this year in Mexico.
👏👍🏻
I like your channel and realize there is a time delay from filming to publication. I never expected it to be 1-year.
Yea, we got bust doing other stuff! The videos are a hobby so we try not to stress to much over it. Sea Venture stayed in the San Francisco Bay are for 10 months. As a result the videos will be much more current soon. Thanks for watching.
Left out all the good parts you didn’t show all the maintenance Preparation provisions you left all the things you had to do before you left. Cause the cruising part is easy it’s all the stuff you have to do before you can get cruising that everybody needs to learn.
