- This is the short documentary telling the full story of my home built 1991 Honda CRX from the day I first got it to the end of my 14yr ownership. This video has taken me a long time to make and hours and hours of work has gone into it. I appreciate all the support by watching it and following my channel.
This is my vision and dream for this channel is to make well produced documentary style features of people telling the stories of their unique builds and showcasing the cars like this one. I need to grow the channel to be able to do more like these so all the support I can get is greatly appreciated!

@@budgetbuild914 yeah I just get burnt out time to time and need to take a break from shooting videos. I'm about to drop my next video hopefully next week telling about a little progress and the main focus these last couple months has been getting ready to build my dream shop! Once that is done I'll start making progress on the new c10 build.
Mint(ish) 1991 Civic Si owner here. I have a 35 year old relationship with this body style, first falling in love with it in 1988 when the first EFs appeared here in Vancouver. My memories of September 1991, when I took the keys from the dealership for my brand new Civic, will never stop being precious to me.
My love for this car is one of the few things that hasn't changed in all that time. It has only grown stronger.
Thank you for showing yours the love that these cars deserve.
This one is no longer in my possession but it is in good hands definitely being loved and cared for. It was time to move on to new things and other things I wanted to do. Just built my dream workshop and getting ready to start on my new classic truck build

As a fellow CRX owner, a dad of two kids, and a husband... I can totally relate! I've had my red '88 CRX Si for about 18 years now... and still to this day, I haven't painted it or done any body work on it, only because I don't have the knowledge or money to get it done. This is truly an inspiration of what comes out of all the hardwork and dedication you put into this amazingly fun car.
Thank you for the kind words! That's really cool that you've had yours this long. I didn't have my kids during the time I built this car. I finished it right as my oldest was born. I'm starting on a new project now and it's definitely moving very slow now that I have a much busier life.
This car has a lil bit of everything. A story behind it,fails,owner actually wrenched on it,and all this work and still drive it👏

Stunning. Labour of love in both the rebuild and the video production. Kudos, superb job, you've got great friends and wife supporting you. They've all got their fingerprints on this.
I haven’t had my CRX on the road in over 15 years but I posted my build online back in 2008 and we share a lot of parallels in our builds. This is more of the vision I wished I could have produced. Your build, your video, the love for the car and the pride of the efforts. I feel you. I haven’t been very active beyond collecting parts since putting it away. I built an LSVTEC turbo engine that I ended up selling at the start of the pandemic but that’s the last I worked on/with it. Financially I haven’t been able to add anything to it and the car’s been buried in storage for years. The car has taken a back seat to family and work but this summer I’ve started a new path in the K-Series direction, have put a lot of research in on the k-swap because it’s all new to me. Picked up an Accord K24a8 with a manual transmission and full wire harness. Maybe some day I’ll get it back on the road. If I can find you on Instagram I’ll give you a follow and send you a message.

Thanks for the kind words. Unfortunately I sold the car last year but it went to a very good home to someone who has quite a few very clean classic Hondas. It was time for me to open a new chapter and I'm currently building my dream shop and starting a brand new ground up build
Lots of sweat equity in here for sure! 1984 Crx Dx.was my 1st car used in '86. So many good memories in that thing. Did a lot of tweaking. Took me from end of high school through colleges & into 1st couple jobs.

To be fair my channel is very small and compared to my other videos in the first 2 days of posting this it is doing very well.
Very nice I had 2 x b16 crx's loved every minute after a 3rd Gen rx7,3000 gt-vr4 glass top and a ek-9 with a prelude h22-a1 all the work has been done with my own hands it sucks when you go broke and have to sell your dream car a couple nightmares of waking up to having a garage and your car in it when you wake up there is no garage or car you used to have right now slowly working on 2001 impreza 2.5 RS sedan with a 22B full widebody kit and thinking about a JDM engine swap with a 5 speed california sucks for a 6 speed found that out with the 3000 gt your friends and you do very incredible work I respect those that get their hands dirty keep on keeping on very clean crx b20 for awd turbo swap too heavy na version k20 built that's the real bad boy sure you got b18 c-5 or f20-c but personally I am a fan of k20 it has so much get up and go being built you would forget about a turbo or charger fast cars are definitely built not bought I roasted a brand new 550 Marinello and a 911 turbo cause they only wanted 175 I ran at 180 makes you feel good I built for a third of the fast car and always win

Sometimes I miss my old ef 4dr that I b16 swapped. It was sure fun to drive.
These cars with a b16 aren't what I would call fast but they are a great match and quick enough to have a lot of fun. I have sold my crx now and it was hard to let it go but excited about new things and a new build!
@@diversedad7954 I can relate. I gave my car to my little brother and sold him the swap lol. It was difficult because I owned that car for 10 years. I sold it to complete my RHD s13 that I've owned for like 17 years

Story reminds me of my own CRX.. have a video coming out this weekend on it. owned the car for 11 years now, originally a red color. bought it not running. I'm about to dive into my VTEC head conversion, and then it's getting paint! This is super inspirational though! And i hope that one day I'll own a CRX as beautiful as this. A lot of work ahead of me!

Beautiful build man! You did it right, nice clean lines....from the metal outward protecting it from metal cancer i.e. rust! I rebuilt 3 classic mustangs about 20+ years ago, buying my first 91' CRX in the next week....I will be hitting you up for specifics, hope you don't mind. Thanks for your inspiration man!

I really appreciate that! To be fair this video was far and above what the typical videos on my channel are and I'm very unsure of the direction of my channel to grow it. This took a ton of time and effort but if I had my way I would love to do all features like this.
Just finished doint this to my DA9. Currently doing the body work on my s2000 and painting it moon rock. Already got the jambs done
Very cool. Can't go wrong with moonrock and can never go wrong with an s2000! I actually almost traded this car for an S2000 about a year ago

@@diversedad7954 i rebuilt it in my garage 3 years ago. New rings, bearings, all new seals and gaskets. It's been running great for 3 years now lol. The paint was just bad. I paid some one to paint it. And they did a horrible job.
@@mikelmorgan6409 There is almost nothing worse than having something painted and it not being a good job. Because at that point you basically have to start over and send it back down
Really nice video and nice story. Thanks for making the documentary and sharing your story. My first car was an 86 CRXSi. Then upgraded to a 93 Prelude Si. Love the 80's/90's Hondas!
Thanks for the comment. Sounds like we had a lot in common. I consider the 80s/90s the Golden era for honda. Just enough technology to be efficient yet simple enough to be super reliable and simple to work on.
Looks like they did an okay job with the rattle can paint job from the photos.
Then the photos definitely don't do it justice. It looked good from about 300ft away😂. And the fact that they painted over all the black moldings and seals.

Decided to close that chapter and start a new build so it's a little bitter sweet. I've kept in touch with the new owner and he's taken really good care of it and I've even visited since you bought it.

Thanks! I sold the crx a year ago. A couple of my friends have also sold their cars and some are still building. Life has changed a lot for all of us but I have a new project I'm starting to build and finally finishing up building my dream shop to do it in. I still keep in touch with the new owner of the crx and have even been to visit. He's only 2hrs from me.

Loved every minute of this video. Former ‘91 EF Si hatch owner, which I purchased new in college. Why didn’t we get the B series engines in the US? I think I read something about Honda not wanting to cannibalize Acura sales, but that doesn’t make sense to me, since Acura never had a 2-seater hatch.
Appreciate that. Yeah not like acura had anything quite like the crx but you could argue the Integra could have been a competitor.
This car has a crazy story and came out super clean. Well done man! great content too! This gave me some extra inspiration to finish my b swap in my crx.

I miss the forum days. These youngin’s don’t know what they’ve missed. Social media has killed the car scene. It was never about pleasing a set of people. It was about building a car to your liking. The only downside to the forum days was the non mingling of car manuf. Honda guys hung out with Honda guys. Nissan, VW. Only guy that hung out together were the Saturn, Hyundai Dodge & Chevy guys as they were the outcast of the import scene. 😁😂

I appreciate that. I actually sold it just before I released this video about a year-and-a-half ago. I bought a new project to start on a new build and also wanted to build my dream shop and didn't have the money to do all the things I wanted. My shop is finished and now it's time to tear into restoring the next project 66 Chevy C10 short bed on bags with an LS fuel injected motor

Mate! Love the storytelling. I have a 88 CRX down here in Melbourne Australia. One owner. Yep. I bought it new during my college years and was left in the barn for over 25 years to decay while I lived in London. Tore it down during CoVid and rebuilt it from the ground up. Guesstimate 1500 hours worth of effort. Wish I could post a pic. 100% OEM and mint. You’ve inspired me to film and post the story. Cheers!

Sweet car. Really enjoyed the video. I havent seen a crx in years. I had an 88 HF. I think it would look nice with some OEM honda wheels.
Thanks. Yeah don't see them often. That's one thing I've never owned is a set of period correct oem wheels! I do like them but the width and offset of oem wheels on one that's sits as low as mine look kinda cheesy(tires tucked into the wheel wells).

i love that its a hf cuz thats what im in the process of building. scored a gsr, rear disc conversion , and black interior 88 si seats for it. cant wait to get it on the road. also your vision and way you built your car is exactly my taste and what I hope do achieve with mine.

@@DistortedApricot I actually sold the car just before I finish this video. Honestly without doing a how-to video while I'm actually doing it, there wouldn't really be any way to show something like that with a finished car. I did another video that goes in-depth showing how to use An fittings which is very detailed and those are the types of fittings I used to run all of my brake lines and fuel lines. It may help answer some of your questions

I built my dream shop and I'm starting a new build. Something completely different. 66 Chevy C10 with an LS swap and on bags. Will be a ton of fun and something I hope to make memories involving my kids in the process and something my wife will enjoy cruising with me.
@@diversedad7954 Yeah, That makes perfect sense... If YOU love it, yet it doesnt involve your family then it doesnt make sense. This build will hopefully gain love from all the family!! Get your wife in there turning some wrenches and teaching her stuff. She will learn to love it.. Knowing shes riding in something that she helped build! IT really does make a world of difference! I always worked on ALL my own cars yet I had friends who would pay to have them built by a shop. They never loved their cars the way I loved mine.. I look forward to seeing the C10 build!!
