You know...im just sitting here in my garage with my stripped e36 waiting for me to touch it...thinking about how this is my favorite channel right now. Of course you have the Adams and the TJs and everyone else...but nobody does it like Jimmy and the Crew. Everyone tries to have personalities in the vids...but nobody does it better than this channel. And you have a perfect balance of comedy and information. Nobodys doing it like you guys. Salute to my favorite channel on CZcams!
jimmy makes sure his friends / employees enjoy working and he makes sure Spoons misery continues by giving him more work that he can't complain about. Enjoy your welding project Spoon.
Look into Forced Induction blower lid spacers. I had a buddy with an ls3 and LSA blower in a 64 Nova that saw a 10% decrease in IAT's. We also used the thermal barrier on the valley cover in conjunction with Phenolic intake spacers to give a greater clearance for air flow, this gave another 5% decrease. Overall we saw 15 Degree drop in IAT's after and it took much longer to get heat soaked.
Jim, you can add a thermal barrier coating to the supercharger. Contact a plasma coating job shop. There are several in Ct. Have them put a Nicole aluminum plasma bond coat . 005 to .007 thick. Then ceramic plasma top coat. 8 percent yitria stabilized zirconia .008 to .012 thick. This TBC system will reduce the operating temperature by 25 to 30 degrees Fahrenheit. The finished coated surface will still retain its finned high surface area cooling surface
I'm glad you keyed the crank! I've made well over 1000hp with 2 dowels, never used 4. ARP sells the crank pulley bolt that's long enough to install the crank pulley. It's alot easier and safer than heating up the pulley. I have heated it up and reused the factory bolt on turbo setups and it's fine. LS are magic. 220k miles, all the grease and grime just pushed into the engine, mismatched heads, nicked #8 piston and still makes 1058hp on a 346ci lmao. Don't every be skurred
Wife walks in...... Why are you so happy?? You're all smiley!! What are you watching?????? (-_-) Me: watching Jimmy and Spoon doing their thing.... you know the friends that dont know we're friends........??
if you order from ICT Billet stuff comes with the hardware and they are also the only all american 1 stop LS swap shop! you can literally order everything you could ever need from them
Jimmy: Please put the thermal barrier material stuff on the valley cover of the engine! It doesn't have to go on the bottom of the supercharger itself. The valley cover is literally a blank slate just begging to have the stuff stuck to it. It'll be worth it in the end.
Even less intrusive to the hood while offering even better cooling is the switch to an LS9-style lid: stock ZR1, aftermarket Kong, or aftermarket Syngery Motorsports/Xtreme CFM. They allow you to run the dual brick setup with more hood clearance and better cooling capabilities.
Ugh, no kidding about the LS accessories... couple years back I had the pleasure of dealing with a clueless customer as tech support. Dude bought a Chevelle that had been LS swapped by p/o and he couldn't figure out what the accessories were from/what donor the LS came from. It was like pulling teeth trying to get him to email me a picture of the damn thing... eventually I figured it out thanks to the GM Performance catalog. It was a Cadillac CTS donor engine.
Whys no one talking about how that accessory belt route is wrong for the lower idler pulley. Thats why its too long. Its meant to go straight from the dampener to the idler before going around the alternator.
Pro tip on serpentine belts - the ribbed side of the belt will always go on the ribbed pulleys, the smooth pulleys will always have the back side/non ribbed side of the belts (Generally speaking).
I live out my car builds through you, Adam lz, ricer Miata, grant, dustin Williams, Larry Chen, dj no way, Cleetus McFarland. If it wasnt for you guys I’d be in a ditch dead. East coast boys for life!
The smaller the pulley the more boost you'll make. Imagine you have a big pulley and one that's a quarter of the size of the big one and rolled them one rotation. The big one would roll further than the small one and the small one would have to rotate 4 times to go the same distance as the big one. So for every one rotation of the big pulley the smaller one would rotate 4 times therefore the smaller one would spin the supercharger faster than a bigger one.
Can’t wait to see y’all shred against my local team D-Walkin!!! Allen, Nick and other guys are hella dope and fun to fuck around with🥰🥰 can’t wait for the videos
I think that the acc belt is supposed to from the ps to the alternator then the idler, as it looks like there isnt enough surface area on the crank pulley
Yo Jimmy, you should try a Procharger on that LS engine. I think you would prefer it, over the supercharger. JMO of course, but I think its a better choice for the LS platform.
Don't the Procharger style blowers work like a turbo and mostly give top end power? The twin screw/positive displacement style blowers give instant torque and power, which I would think would be better for drifting. Torque = wheel speed, wheel speed = tire smoke. Lol.
The Procharger's have instant power as well these days. They got them figured out awhile back. With boost being in direct relation to engine RPM. Do a pulley change based off what you want from your setup. The guys over at Procharger have really done a great job, fixing the issues, that they had earlier on with the power curve down low. They have it now where you get the same power their known for at the higher rpms. While also giving you immediate power at lower rpms.Thats prolly why in No prep there are so many running prochargers & the ones running them, are killers to the 60ft. Also Jimmy's cars being for drifting & rolling pulls, etc. The procharger would be ideal IMO. Thats with factoring in , the procharger is more efficient & less heat sink as well.
I'm gunna say right now, that ps pump is just a pump off of a mid 90s jeep grand cherokee 4.0 with a fancy pulley and a line adapter, I have the same pump on my jeep, and my hobby stock
Left side of the engine off the water pump is where the regular belt tensioner goes let’s go you guy saw it just go to owronglies and get it they have it in stock
Jimmy have a sus of a clutch style alternator pulley, pretty sure genuine ls3/lsa alternators run the clutch pulley due to them always cooking alternators at high revs! Maybe see what FD guys do to over come that issue over over spinning them and melting them. Also blower lid spacer 100% 🔥🔥
Yaay just got done bleeding my clutch and come in to this gem! Much love Oakes crew! edit: Got an invite from tandem knights to be their third for finalbout ( longtime online drift buds) but transporting my car to us air will be mad expensive, don't have a truck or trailer yet. Feel like I am gonna kick myself if I don't do it.
I tell ya what jimbo, my brother has a ctsv on E with a 2.45 upper blower pully and ported snout and throttle body, it makes the blower sound wild and it jamssss
Owned a v2 for 5 years. Go ahead and order a spare green belt to keep it around. Especially if you ever end up running a smaller upper pulley and wanna spin it to the moon.
When this video came out, I stopped on the highway to see it in the car, I was mugged and robbed, after doing all the police paperwork, I got home and finished watching it.
Run a ice tank I have a zl1 and your iat’s are going to get hot with just a heat exchanger. The bricks are not very efficient. You can get the upgraded kong or synergy ls9 lid conversion or buy the upgraded brick for the lsa.

Completely agree! Never miss one upload. Crazy how he doesn't have more subs.
If you don’t have a half built e36 in your garage are you really living life?
💯

Science.....bitch
a cost breakdown and parts list of the engine setup would be sick
He probably can’t disclose the hook up pricing on some things so it would be hard to have an 100% accurate price list
@@caseyhubbard76that’s so true. It’s discount prices so the whole list wouldn’t be accurate at all.
is there some strange reason you can't do it yourself?
he can just do it with MSRP so people can have an idea what recreating this setup normally would cost.@@Nick_Tank
@@caseyhubbard76surely he could still give the regular pricing and count it all up together

Sick to see you and the boys spreading your horizons and not just building a bunch of the same stuff. The variety is awesome to see
The accessories belt wraps the crank pulley and up and over the idler then down to the alternator. Otherwise your belt will slip on the crank.
This!

Probably my favorite thing on these install/working videos. Always seems to have a way to explain things for us simple folk

Pro tip on serpentine belts - the ribbed side of the belt will always go on the ribbed pulleys, the smooth pulleys will always have the back side/non ribbed side of the belts (Generally speaking).
All you have to do is pull the plug and look in with a bore scope to get it to TDC.
I live out my car builds through you, Adam lz, ricer Miata, grant, dustin Williams, Larry Chen, dj no way, Cleetus McFarland. If it wasnt for you guys I’d be in a ditch dead. East coast boys for life!
Jimmy there is a install tool for installing the harmonic balancer if you have any issues with the belt the pulley might not be seated all the way
Saw the s13&15 earlier today going through pa the yellow looks so different in person
Almost 40 full minutes of jimmy oakes! Hell yeah!
You can get smaller tensioner pulleys off of like a truck. Possibility of smashing that plastic pulley if you loose the belt.
That valley cover is asking for that heat barrier to be stuck on it…
For real, lol.
You’re suppose to hone the hub on the ATI damper. Clearance specs are in directions
The LS is looking so good especially with the Big Ass Supercharger on top!! Can’t wait to see it shredding tires!!! 🫶
Love spoon's addition to the channel. I hope you guys continue this relationship.
Intercooler plumbing, pump and tank! Can’t forget that!
