- I made the insane decision to drive 8 hours from Hamilton all the way down to Beebe, Arkansas so i could meet up with Cruz Newberry, Branden Deckard, and Jared Harrell. It was an awesome experience, especially because of the Whelen Hi-Lo ambience in the backround after the 2000 wound down.
Beebe, AR tests every Wednesday at Noon.

An active 2000? Damn!
These boys had an active blower that made it's distinctive thunderbolt sound
There's a little debate going on over at my channel whether or not Edaan, Duderocks, and I visited the last remaining gas powered T2000. Seems like this one has been converted over to an electric driven blower, just like the one in Phoenix. I was just in Arkansas visiting the T1000 in Helena and wish I had seen this video sooner and would have swung on by.
From what I can see, the one I visited in Windsor Hills, Los Angeles, CA is still connected to the original gas powered blower (even though it is no longer active and most likely no longer capable of running) while the one in Phoenix and this one in Arkansas has been adjusted to run on electric power. Regardless, great video, and I'm so happy to see these pieces of history restored and running.
Too bad the blower isnt gas powered anymore. It would be interesting to see what the control cabinet for the gas blower would have looked like. Would their be a delay relay that would start the blower first, than the siren a couple of seconds later?
0:18 siren starts
Awesome video! Hope to see you in Hamilton on Wednesday, I'll be recording the Sirex.
Wow, this truly is awesome!
I heard it replaced a Whelen that got hit by lightning
That’s because it did
@@fordmustangsvtcobrar-hk5xi yes 😎
they could place the Lightning rod on it so the panel or the head can't be struck.
Glad we have a recording of these on YT
Nice video! Finally there’s a recording off one of these beasts!
yup the original gas powered 1953 FS thunderbolt 2000 in all its glory
Woah
i think its 52
These have the coolest sound out of thunderbolts. My personal opinion so if y'all disagree keep that to yourself.
COOL! these are really rare! and also the hilo ambience...
I like this thunderbolt 2000 siren
You know the jail bar thunderbolt is one of the rarest sirens
It's rare but I wouldn't say one of the rarest sirens
@@SuperSirex127 the rarest is the ACA Alertonic 5000
@@dylanjb4065 you could say that but some other sirens could be put under that category
Jailbar Thunderbolts aren't all that rare. There's around 50 of them in existence.
@@Glist_ That's not a lot.
It’s echoes sound like a t-128 if you listen close enough
Fresh
I’m sad to say this siren is gone it was replaced by a Whalen vortex
I’m pretty sure that was the complete opposite
Nice video! Really awesome!
Nice video as always!
sounds like an underpowered french siren, lol
Juicy
the beginning sound a bit like a Chrysler but this is a cool siren
@Bijay Gurung the original gas motor was swapped out for an electric motor. This unit is all-electric
I never know these things exist
2000 was start
These models appear to be rare, yet a Thunderbolt 2000T.
2000T doesnt exist.
They do, but dual toned
Well on fandom
@@k22_641 ah yes, because Fandom is always correct...
2000Ts were never made
It looks like the Rotator took a hit to something maybe a large chunk of hail, a fallen tree branch, I don't know, if anyone knows what happened to the Rotator please let me know
It was purchased from an auction, in another city.
Does the 1003 near the high school still work?
i hope
This one is technically a 1000 it's blower was converted to electric in the 80s
We know but we're still calling it a 2000 because it was originally a 2000
@@SuperSirex127 I know...
@@YoooitsSCARS then what was the point of your comment

THIS IS MY YT PROFILE

When was this refurbished?
A couple of years ago. The city purchased it from Phoenix AZ.
in 2017
That's hot.
I fixed an old one yesterday, the problem was worn out brushes, the chopper motor didn't get enough voltage which I fixed with a new wire, the rotor was not getting enough voltage either but that was a different problem that I can't explain but the blower pipe was bent to the point where the whole thing was on the ground there was no other pole just the blower pipe. why would they do that that's the big question.🤔
just a blower pipe has been done a lot before but I think I high winds knocked it over all of the problems I don't know what happened to cause all of those problems
i’m pretty sure this dude’s BSing
Awesome!
Jail bar 2000 an it active?!?! VERY RARE I CALL
It isn’t technically a 2000 anymore. it has a basic 6M now, as the motors were converted to electric in the 80s
@@pennsy77 no, although it doesn’t have a gas powered blower, it has an A1 blower, these sirens where converted to electric, in the 50s, by Maricopa county civil defense.
@@arizonawarningsirens6067 Technically, again, it's a 1000.
Yep
i heard an aca allertor or p-50 (witch ever siren looks like it uses a metal trash can as a horn) in the backround (also the whelen)
It’s a P-50 what you think but Beebe does not have a P-50
A jail bar is rare enough, but a 2000!? Aren’t there only a couple left in the world that are still standing? Especially active?
From what has been found, only 3 thunderbolt 2000s are still up. 2 of which are operational. There is one in private possession as well
@@thespiritstingray9359 and one is inactive in my city, Los Angeles, standing by Windsor hills elementary school, rusting along with its original GP blower
@@Mrbushbtalls837 yep. The thing is still standing somehow
@SirenTube I have no idea what his name is but he lives in Arizona. Its an Ex-phoenix CD siren and he has the head and electric converted blower
Where is this siren located?!?
Beebe, Arkansas
Bro 2000s came to early😭 I'm a 1003
Is this actually gas powered?
No, the gasoline engine was replaced when Phoenix (the city it came from) converted all their thunderbolt 2000's blowers to electric.
T-Bolt 2000 Looks like sick
Not sick, it’s restored with a lower tone due to its lack of port holes. May sound confusing, but true!
@@Mrbushbtalls837 What are you talking about?
@@Glist_ because the person said it was “sick”
@@Mrbushbtalls837 Your explanation made no sense at all
@@Glist_ Well yeah, I think I might edit it
Dude I could hear another siren in the background
it sounds like it wouldn't be loud enough???!
Because it’s gased powered
@@zephstalemore312 No it’s not. It was converted to Electric phase energy
Can someone record the whelen doing hilo i live in prescott arkansas
I can hear a whelen when the tbolt wound down

The best kind
i wonder what this sounds like now ?
Probably the same
Why is there a barcode on the bottom of the horn?
Where do you see that at?

How much for this refurbished siren instead of going local with the Whelen dealer that would of installed another Vortex R4
Probably 600-1500 bucks
@@Sipex6484 That seems like a reasonable price for a New Vortex R4 that would outlast this 65+ Old Thunderbolt 1000
@@garyhisgun4996 nah
@@garyhisgun4996 actually, a refurbished electromechanical thunderbolt, will outlast any electronic speak array siren any day. A brand new Whelen vortex is all fiberglass and plastic, which doesn’t hold up to the weather very well after about 20 years. Look at the whelen WPS-3016’s in aurora Colorado for example. Those things are newer than this thunderbolt, and a lot of thunderbolts that haven’t been refinished and are still in service. Yet some of them have bad speakers, to the point where you can barely hear them when you are standing right next them. They are having speaker backfiring, and are not going to last very much longer. This thunderbolt, if taken care of, and maintained properly, will probably outlive me, and you.
Edit: I forgot to mention that this thunderbolt is made of steel construction, with the newer ones being aluminum. If painted every so often, it will last for years.
@@Keaton0801 well Minneapolis MN had a System of 4/5 Port Thunderbolts which were very rusty but they still ran very well only a few had blowers that stopped working and were replaced with Whelen Vortexes back in 2014 so by 2034 would they be replaced again by another Siren dealer and the other city across the Mississippi St Pail MN also had a System of Thunderbolt 1000s which like Minneapolis ran very well but had to replaced by 2001-130s how long do those 2001s last

Does the blower still run on gasoline? Or is it converted to propane or even electricity?
Um electricity
@@SuperSirex127 Okay okay, just asking because the 2000 model was originally equipped with a gas-powered blower
Oh it's one of my cousins
I think you meant 1000 a thunderbolt 2000 doesnt exist
They exist. Do some research.
A thunderbolt 2000 is a thunderbolt with a gas powered blower to put it simply. Many, including this one, have been converted to electric motors
