My mother told me her tip for threading needles. She said, "Needles have a front and back side. If it won't take the thread on one side, try the other". I love your work. The softness along with the scrappiness is right up my alley. I love NRQ (No Rules Quilting) projects. You've inspired me to make some pouches for my granddaughters. Maybe one or two for myself as well.

Just watched this one again and gathered my little bits and pieces to make my own little pouch. I am enjoying your channel very much and find it very therapeutic. Having been a hopeless perfectionist all my life I have learned that wonky is good and done is more useful than perfect. I cheat and get my brother to thread a bunch of needles for me and use clothes pegs to hold my work until I tack and then sew it. I'm going to tuck some saved cottage garden flower seeds into a pouch for a good friend. Grateful thanks from vera

Good morning Vera, I think it's fantastic how you are finding ways and means. Getting your brother to thread needles reminds me of the traditional American quilting bees, when the children would sit under the quilt frame and thread needles for the women quilters. Love the idea of a seed pouch for your friend. ❤️

I love to make pouches too. I used them to put my art supplies (markers, pencils, glue...). I’m much messier than you 😂, I stitch my patches and scraps as I go along (I never put pins on it 😂) and many times they end up wonky, but I like it.

The invisible basting stitch is wonderful, thanks for sharing. I just finished a traveling sewing pouch today which is looking for a project to be tucked inside. As I was thinking of what to do next your video inspired. I make my own vanilla extract and have a batch of bottles going (fermenting) for Christmas 2024 gifts, (they take two years to hit full yumminess). During your video it came to me to make slow stitch pouches for each of those bottles, what a perfect little project to put in my traveling bag over the next year. I look forward to learning how to make the Japanese rice bag. Thanks for sharing your process and beautiful pieces. 🧵 🪡 Also thanks for sharing your process to dye fabric to create a desired change. I am loving your voice, so soothing. I am also planning to join in on the weekly project in '24.
In the case of shifty fabric, you might try small clips. They make them for sewing when a pin is not appropriate. You can also use office clips! But due to your diligence, I won't try to line mine with satin or silk! Thank you for your effort in getting us these wonderful videos.

My family always does a penny (since we're in US) in a bag or purse, too. A few other nice things to put in pouches are a nice pen or other stationery type thing, a nice little pin or brooch, fashion jewelry/baubles, and lip balm tubes. Clearly we love the pouch gifts 😊

What a calming zen type video, thank you..I love all textile creations and these are right in line with things I love. I heard a tip a long time ago to thread a needle and agree it works really well for me. Bring the needle to the thread instead of threading the needle. I use it in quilting quite a bit..I love the basting tip you shared, genius!
