It can't be overstated how impactful Rage is, but REALLY was in the 90s. Now, it seems like every other day there is a massive protest and issues being brought to light and violence and all kinds of chaos at times. But back then when their music dropped it was very revolutionary, and provided a full on history lesson if you listened close to the lyrics. It's only sad how specifically relevant they still are today. And musically they are just true originals. Heavy rock with hip hop and funk. Everyone else I've heard try it has failed.

Single most important band of Gen X USA because of their audience demographic....they weren't the only band shouting about injustices, but they were the only ones (at first) celebrated by the children of the aggressors. 1000s of would be oppressors and complacents were educated and enlightenrd by this band.
Check out Tom Morrello's acceptance speech at the rock and roll hall of fame, if you haven't already.....powerful stuff

Greetings from California. Hey limeys, welcome to Rage Against The Machine. The shit in LA was really heavy when they broke. In fact it's gotten way worse, nationwide. Not enough people who dug em actually followed through and now there's all this fuckin shit goin down everywhere. Check out their performance at Finsbury Park, London in 2010. The back story about how that show came about is just great!

Most Rage songs have very insightful lyrics, and most condemn oppression and injustice.
I would recommend that you listen to their live 1993 performance of "Killing In The Name". This song condemns white supremacy and police brutality in the US and they mfing KILL it in their live 1993 performance of this song. EPIC!
    Other recommendations:
    - "Know Your Enemy" WITH lyrics (need the lyrics for that one)
    - "The Ghost of Tom Joad" WITH lyrics (need the lyrics for that one)
    - The official music video for "Guerilla Radio"
    - The official music video for "Sleep Now in the Fire"
    - "Renegades of Funk"

This song is about the US Military Industrial Complex having immense power and control. How those in power will spend money on munitions, guns and war but stutter at spending the tiniest percent of that on food, clothes or anything else the less fortunate need. How politicians talk about family values (rally round the family) to get elected, but in office are more interested in sending young men and women off to War (pocket full of shells). The US has been involved in war and "police actions" in other countries in some form or another since the 50's. They spend more on munitions and the military then the next top 11 countries, combined.

The song is about the struggle of native and indigenous peoples. Like myself, the beginning of the video where you see the crowd crouched down. That is a native dance. They rally around the family with a pocket full of shells means. Our people fighting with what little we have.

*9+* All day, every day. Yes, please do more RATM. I don't remember much RATM from the '90s. I think I remember this, 'Bulls on Parade'. RATM wasn't a thing for me. However, during lockdown, Yoyoka ① got me into RATM.
Yoyoka's _Bulls on Parade - RATMe / Cover by Yoyoka, 10yo_ czcams.com/video/Tkw57uGnSrs/video.html is joyous 😂
    Best Wishes, Chaps. ☟
① Yoyoka is a Japanese female drummer. She was added to DrummerWorld's 'Top 500 drummers' list at 11yo !
*I have no relationship with Yoyoka whatsoever.*
She is just great fun to hear and watch playing drums, especially for songs with 'funk', eg. Jamiroquai or Silk Sonic.
She's a big RATM fan (about 20 videos), though some are 'Drum Only' for musicians to make their own RATM covers.
