If you don't need dual XLR and can live with a single XLR and a dedicated instrument input, there is a "SOLO" for $50 as well.
Mine arrives tomorrow. 🤞🏻
only issue is that the solo doesnt have a knob for the monitor mix, which is the same on my focusrite solo 3rd gen.
This review was decisive for my getting one. I'm from Brazil and the things here are much more expensive than there, but I found a good deal on that model.
india here man and i can feel you, this costs around 6000 in my currency and seems so god damn expensive even though this is just an entry level audio interface
Absolutely great review! Watched this after I bought it and installed, but this makes me so much more happy that I bought it. Thanks!!
Thanks for the video! I just received mine for recording guitar. This will be my first try at recording. Thank you for not (1) Throwing your hands around like you're in a rap battle and (2) saying "like" and "literslly'' every 2.73 words. Very refreshing.
Really clear vid, fair rating system. Just overall a Pleasant informative viewing experience.
I bought this already and have used it. it is great for throwing in to a suitcase when you travel and want to record scratch track Ideas etc when away from home. I also use it when I want to sit outside and just play and get some things down or working out songs and leads when writing and don't want to be stuck in the house in my full studio
. It has a place and well worth the $69 hell its cheaper than mall of my pedals. I have spent $69 on worse things that's for sure.
So refreshing to watch a review without theatrics and snarky/condescending commentary. This out of all the reviews I've watched convinced me to buy it. Thank you for an honest , informative review. 25!
I'm about to start recording my own music and I'm a noob when it comes to recording and software stuff so watching this video helped me a lot. Ill buy a bundle with headphones and mic included so we'll see how i do.
Any recording software recommendations? I'd highly appreciate it
Good video sir. The outputs are jacks like guitar jacks? If i buy i'll need 1 jack for rca and other jack for rca right?! Thank you
tani i świetny sprzet....Pan równiez!!
Not for everyone but....... I have plenty of aluminum sheet. Bending up a new "cover chassis" would be a piece of cake for me. I have been building various types of electronic device chassis since high school in the mid-60's. Worth my effort?
9mins in, and I may just pick this up today rather than the Behringer U-Phoria UMC22.
I did the research on both and went with the M-track SOLO.... it works great!
The UMC22 is 23 Dollars and has same specs. (Aliexpress).
So cheap it rattles, plastic everything. The audio taper on those pots is hilarious, were they for guitars originally? RC cars?
Hi. This may be a silly newbie question but wanted to check before purchasing. When recording via USB do the 2 channels record as seperate tracks? Can you add channels individually to something like OBS or does it just show up as 1 device? Thanks!
Got mine for 55€, totally worth it
How do you get the softwares included with the interface? I have never worked with an interface so before I buy it, so I want to know how to get them, because I will probably be lost and panicked and im too poor to get extra plugins. Great review! Have a nice day!
I am curious how this will stack-up against the Behringer U-Phoria UMC202HD which is the same price and has a reputation for being great value. I am gonna need one of them, soon.
As long as your USB port can supply enough power to the 202HD it is a fantastic unit. Some USB ports split the power with other ports and cause issues with the 202HD The 404HD has its own power. I have been using it for several years now.
Do you have to hook this up to a computer or iDevice etc. to have it work or will it work powered by USB charger? I know the Scarlett 2i2 (I believe model 2 will not and requires you to be connected to a device)
Thanks for video. Will it record in 24 or only in 16 bit depth?
No mention of the fact the M-track duo is only 16 bit, not the greatest for multitrack, not to mention the hassle running inputs hot. Will do the job of course, and still sounds good.
Also, I don't get the hate for the presonus audiobox, a bit old now but records at 24bit and I never had a problem with preamps with any mic, built like a tank and includes a studio one artist license for around the same money. I still use one for location stuff.
To make a 16bit interface in these days, I cannot get it! ESI Neva, same price, 24bit.
so if you're on direct monitor, you can hear the input signal AND the playback from DAW?
Well done, I recently bought the focusrite solo and thought maybe this was a better way to go for stereo instruments or mics but I think I will probably stick with what I have.
Just got one of these. Pretty happy with the device. Disappointed in the software. It appears that Pro Tools First is no longer available and Eleven Lite is not where to be found. Might take advantage of the Positive Grid sale to get the basic Bias FX plug in to use with it.
Channeling your inner Doug Demuro eh
In my experience with M-Audio (Presonus is the same): You'll buy one, it'll randomly stop working in 3 months, and you'll have to buy another. In that time, you could've just bought a better sounding Audient iD14 with better converters and preamp circuitry, and won't just... stop working on you.
Yeah of course £200 more.
@@davewills6121 So you'll get an M-Audio. You'll buy it twice. Maybe three times. And spend well over the cost of a single interface that will last you a long time and serve you well.
And an iD14 is not £200 more. They're £161 through Thomann. Or save a few bucks and get an iD4 or an EVO4, or buy used.
You get what you pay for. You buy shit, you get shit.
Not true, i picked up a second hand Pacemaker and its still going strong.
I bought the first version of this m audio duo (just called m audio preamp for $50) 12 years ago and it still works…. Bad units happen.
hu! I got this because my buddy wanted to start a pod cast with me, guess ill be learning guitar once again :) use to play when i was young, stair way to heaven was as far as i got.
@Rolph Finkin why would you say that?
I don’t understand the hookups into the iPad and how you power it
Will this device work without a computer (for example, with a smartphone)?
Question: Is it possible to use bass guitar with the m-audio interface ? Can it also worked on Logic Pro ? Or garageband on macbook pro ?
Ok, what would persuade me to pay so much money for 16 bit? Convince me!
Question sir, pls. help.. i want to record guitar to my computer(with daw) i have a multieffects with usb output is this enough to transfer my sounds without sound degradation? or i need to buy a separate audio interface? whats the difference between usb output of multieffects v.s audio interface? thank you.
Olá
Essa interface é 24 ou 16 bits?
Does it work in windows?
nice job mate.
actually I have it now for 10 days still cannot download the pro tools although I tried hard. when I go in the download apps it has mpc bitts but not pro tools. also in pro tools site has not First version and it says the site is under maintenance...
also the delay is terrible if you set it to USB
any ideas?
It's only 16bit 44khz?
How to connect it to non digital mixer for live sound recording?
does the headphone jack on the front run 250 ohm headphones (such as DT 770 PRO 250)?
Hey! I have kinda big issue with this interface and I couldn’t find any solutions on the internet. Like 60-65% of gain is when you put the knob to like 5/6 of max rotation. And the rest is then suddenly Non-linearly jumped on a very small knob rotation space. Any ideas how to fix this? On some of my mics I’d really need to set the gain between 45-55db and I just can’t with this interface. Otherwise it’s great for the money. Nice review too. If you have any ideas I’d be so happy!
cannot fix that sorry. that's how it is
Is compatible with Linux OS?
Does D score mean Doug score? Asking for a friend
i have too.
I have the Positive Grid Spark 40. It has a defacto interface. Would I benefit from the M Audio?
Not really
@@DylanTalksTone Hello Dylan is this interface nice to use with electric guitar and pc plugins ?? I need one. Thanks much for these reviews
yes its good for that
@@DylanTalksTone Thanks much Dylan
You could also hook up another input on this, like a mic.
Only apple has latency free wish windows would fix there sound structure already its rediculous that you cant get a latency free experience in windoiws
01.2022 - M- audio has serious problems with bundled software ! All Avid Software isn´t available so also Xpand 2 ! Customer support not response ! Keep on mind with buing this product from them !
Review MOTU M4 best value 4x4 w/ loopback $200
Hey Dylan, could you review an Ammoon AGM04. It's also cheap around $80.
3 min in and barely anything...
Enjoy your falsely advertised 16 bit DAC and plastic ass not well shielded case. Unless you *need* direct stereo monitoring you would be insane to buy this over the Behringer equivalent .
I couldn't disagree more. The Behringer sounds boxy, in contrast to the M-tracks crystal preamp. But to each their own... I'm impressed w/ the M-track solo as an entry level interface
Factually, the DAC in this unit records at a 16bit resolution, and then upsamples. The advertising implies heavily it’s 24bit. The unit has very poor shielding. M-Audio have a track record of shoddy support and abandoning customers in terms of drivers.
These are not points where whether you agree is relevant. They are facts. If you want to give your money to a company and product like that, that’s your choice.
In terms of Behringer ‘boxiness’ go and look at frequency response charts for a UMC 202 as well as SNR. If you get boxy results, the more logical conclusion is that you aren’t very good at recording.
