  • Figure is an AI Robotics company building general purpose humanoid robots.
    We are excited to officially unveil the Figure 01 robot and demonstrate dynamic bipedal walking - a feat that our team was able to accomplish in 12 months. Our goal is to develop a robot that moves through the world in a natural human-like way to enable the robot to work successfully in many human environments.

    While this may look cooler, I think a robot with wheels and grabbing arms like in assembly line factories may be easier to use and could move around a warehouse a lot faster.
    Still interesting but hopefully with AI involved they won’t over time and development become self aware or we’ll be on our way to our own demise!

    • @ClaudioSilva-renascienza
      @ClaudioSilva-renascienza Před 10 měsíci +2

      Wheels make it less versatile. Inside a warehouse is ok, but if you need pass through stairs, levels and obstacles, you need legs.
      About AI. Far away from 80's science fiction, we now know that intelligence by itself can't lead to self-awareness. Are things (and research fields) totally different.

    Apperantly walking is harder then running, it has to do with how humans or most animals walk. The natural walking mechanism is mechanical and motoric at the same time. The brain learned how the mechenical body behaves through physics. You learn this while you are a baby and learn to move and walk. So, to get the same smooth walking result for a Machine, you would have to imitate the combination. I am sure it will happen, but thats a much bigger challange then it seems.

  • @HeldIntegral
