Can you pleaseeeeeee please please do an Alocasia collection?! Even if it’s a 10 minute video😂 I just want to see which ones you have and which ones would be on your wishlist
Stop apologizing for the Tortum…. She is a thing of beauty that should be shared for all!
your shirts are sooo cool. i reckon it would be awesome if you did a collection where the genus/species name is on the front, and art of the genus/species on the back! love your vids btw.
I feel like if anyone would thrive with a variegated micans it would be you! And also fits your aesthetic sooo much.
My heart wants anthuriums but my ego needs philodendrons. There’s just something about how well they grow when you do your best by them.
So happy you’re getting another Splendid. It’s a favorite. Looking forward to updates.
the warszewiczii is definitely an adquired taste,I love how it looks like a metal logo but planty but it is a horrible houseplant to care for
Liked your favorite philo video, and this one as well. I think you said exactly what I feel about philos and that is watching them change as they grow. Anthuriums, not so much. They remind me of Alocasias, the velvet ones, that is. I have some, but all the hybrids look to similiar, and don't get the excitement over the color of emerging leaves since they don't stay that way. Even my Florida Ghost has leaves that don't lose their whiteness.
Can’t wait for the Hoya shirt.
I appreciate your channel more so because of the variety of plants in your collection. I think anthurium are beautiful, but I can't completely alter the landscape of my home to provide everything some (a lot) of them need. Philodendrons are my aroid of choice because most don't stress me out (at least the ones I'm willing to own). Love your rhipsalis collection!
❤️🥰❤️
Your collection (not just philos) is definitely one of my main inspirations for sure!!
I love your living room set up, the plants, everything ❤
I definitely plant to get the planty merch at some point too! So cute 🥰
I love what you have done with all the changes. I usually watch you on my TV and I'm not able to comment, my loss!
The Sodiroi aff we have at work are always super fungally :(
I’m obsessed with the scherberichii
The last one is pretty too with the pinkish red midrib. And the ruffly edges are fun too.
Well happy Sunday Sherman! I actually left my house todayandwent to my local nursery with the intent of buying a coir/moss pole and a clear pot for my big philodendron.... and guess what I came home with.. A STUNNING 2 spike blooming phal 😂😂😂.. Geez I need help! 😉 Love your shirts.. Will get one one of these days….anyway Thank you for this awesome video. I did have a tortum in my hands (it was the first row of the nursery) but I still had some control at that point so I put it back.. Hi Vince👍 kisses to Pudge 💚🐶 and a pat for Archie 💙 Have a great week ahead.
Haha! Your feelings on Birkens are exactly how I feel about Anthuriums 😂 I’m trying to like them but it’s just NOT there 🤷🏻♀️ edit to add: I WOULD love a pallidiforum❤( I’m sure that spelling is wrong) love your channel and all you put into your videos! Thank you
I just bought a pallidiflorum-waiting for it to get here. And I feel you on anthurium over all. I got a few basics that I’m growing in order to understand the plants better. (Clari, Crystal, Mag, Dora, Lux, and soon, Pallidiflorum). However, I wasn’t and still am noooot into all of the crazy expensive coveted hybrids (it’s like they’re talking a different, pretentious, language when people talk about them.😅)
@@emoo2342 maybe that’s it! It all seems so foreign… but I’m trying 😂 so excited for your pallidiflorum!! Yay for you!❤️
The bar. Gloriosum is stunning
No Angel? I'm really hoping for one of you to get it, propagate it and put on the sale :) I know it's a long shot but what else us common people have.... Thank you for another fun video!
Your tortum is beautiful! 😍 PS - you are glowing too Charmaine! Motherhood suits you ❤
thank youuuuu 🥹 i'm feeling huge these days! i'm glad i got to experience pregnancy at least once but tbh i'm ready to not be pregnant anymore haha
I love philodendron, and they will always be my number one, but these past two years, Anthurium are also number. Love them both for different reasons.
i definitely think philodendron and anthurium are a totally different growing experience! i enjoy them both equally- but still a philo girl at heart 🫶🏼🫶🏼
Really enjoying this philo talk! Anyone heard of P Bonifaziae?! I just acquired one after oogling over it around the web for sometime! It’s a long boy! Strappy! Can wait for it to grow!
Also acquired a P. Esmereldas, and a P Billietiae Af! Reminds me of a Lita Red.. which I’m still surprised with how little talk there is about that plant!
Great video; thanks for taking the time to answer those questions with examples!
Tortum goals! Next q&a can you go over your conditions with her? Mine is struggling 😢
i was going to make a dedicated tortum video, but it seems like every time i do something like that, the plant ends up tanking- it's like a youtube curse 😂 but here's some quick tips about the tortum that i think might help
- doesn't require a great deal of direct light, but warmth seems to make all the difference
- doesn't require very high humidity, but if growing in ambient conditions i suggest spraying the emergent leaf a few times during the unfurling process to prevent any ripping
- grows great with no drainage and can tolerate weekly diluted fertilization
- can be prone to spider mites but because of the shape of the leaves, it makes it very hard to spot
- i've only ever grown it in soil and it seems to love it
- can tolerate short dry periods between waterings
i'm not sure what you're struggling with exactly, but for tortum rehab i would definitely recommend putting her somewhere warm with at least 400 foot candles of light if you're able. if you're not seeing any new growth, i'd hold off on fertilization. and give her some myco if you have any!
Truly euphorbia sounds interesting. You know I love the weirdo plants too.
Your plant room cabinets look so pretty behind you Sherm, wow!
Philos are still on top imo-it may not be as obvious online, but in real life, they absolutely still reign supreme. Anthurium are cool and there is definitely a craze for them and all of the hybrids..there’s also a sense of exclusivity around them that doesn’t surround Philodendron (like how you talked about the philo snowdrift, but with many anthurium hybrids). But I think that’s apart of why Philos still come out on top. They are the tried and true staples of collections of the most avid collectors as well as casual plant parents.
And I’m not even a big philo person-I’m a hoya head through and through, but I have philos that I wouldn’t trade for the world.
Kevin, from Hakuna La Planta has an AMAZING Brandi, and he's in Canada 😊. I don't have the patience for them and have killed/given up on, more than I'd like to admit. The strawberry shake to me is so hideous, it looks sickly. Also, your Tortum is goals. Please never feel bad about showing it, I love seeing it.
We all love anything showing off your collection 😍 I just bought a wishlist Philo, a Thai Sunrise. It's stunning.
oh, and check the variegated red congo when you have a chance... that salmon pink is out of this world. Fortunately both tortum and red congo will be dropping in price, so I expect maybe a year or two and we will all have them, same as it was with Florida Beauty.
The pink glory is pretty with the pink sinus and down the midrib.
Felix roots in small water vessel don’t change the water just top up weekly. Takes about 6 months. Same for heterocraspedon. I’m talking shot glass size small vessel.
Formally requesting a "rhipsalis" shirt 🤩
I chopped and propped a freshly imported felix with straight tree fern with success. I kept the nicest cut and sold off the rest. You should definitely try rooting a felix again.
i think if i ever tried again, i would definitely opt for tree fern!! thanks for sharing your experience!
I have to say I love the yellow philodendrons because yellow is my favorite color. I do have the neon and I have the wariswiczii...ever how you spell that. Trying to get it to start growing.
I really like anthurium but philodendron are my favorites.
I just got a Serpens and I have been wanting one forever - I hope I can love her right.
A Philo I love if my Philo Golden Crocodile - so pretty, so easy.
i do the same, always cutting to keep it a size or look cause you loose that charm when they get huge
yeah it's too bad that a lot of the philodendron i've loved in the past don't have as cute of a leaf once they're super big.
The Birkin was the hot item when i started collecting. And I didnt like it I also wondered why?I also do not care for the silver sword.Thank you for taking time to share this.
i'm not sure what it is exactly about those two plants but there is no appeal to me whatsoever!
Euphorbia guiengola is really beautiful as a hanging plant if you don’t have it.
Hi Charmaine 👋 I don’t own any anthuriums, my whole plant collection is philodendrons with the exception of a couple of hoyas. There are a few new philodendron hybrids that have shown up on CZcams like the green Congo Nuclear and there is a Red Congo Hybrid 😀🇨🇦
hi linda! i'm so happy to see another philo lover here! it's quite rare to see any plant collector now with not a single anthurium 😮 i hope 2024 brings even more philodendron hybrids because that would make me so happy 😍
Plant gay for life has a tortem that grows so nice-kind of on its side!! It’s awesome!
ooh i'll have to check it out!
Sometimes I wonder if I allow myself to be influenced too much by my favorite online plant CZcamsrs…and then I am over here owning and loving about half your least favorites so I’ve decided I’m good. Whew!
Also, my cat is as big of a tortum fan as you. 😢
the trunks on xanadu are really something
right?! i just wish i could keep one growing happily without succumbing to some kind of fungal issue.
I’m not into philodendrons, but I kinda like the snow drift.
Tortum Soul Sister! I just put a golden dragon in a give away box.
The easiest plants I have are : Philo Florida Green, Burle Marx, Billie, Golden Goddess, and Bipen .
I work at Ecuagenera.. I’ll take some real-life pics of the pink glory today to send you 🥰
FYI I posted them to Philodendron Talk in discord!
Have you seen the tortum x Florida beauty?! Saw it and thought of you 😂
I have a mature Lupinum and I love her! Would totally trade it to you but I’m in the US and idk how that would work 😢
i like my snowdrift
Pinkish pink
💚💚💚
I kinda like the war…the ragged edges.
There is a Philodendron serpens x Philodendron verrucosum hybrid it maybe a little easy then a full Serpens
We have these at work and they’re still pretty fussy, unfortunately
oh! i just found for the first time and bought a pricey philo napo, do u know it
i've only ever heard of or seen the philodendron sp napo purple!
oh purple huh..ya i like it, its a leather like red back kinda bronze long leaf@@unplantparenthood
What does “self healing” mean ?
I think it was "self heading", as in not a climber but growing upwards itself 👍
@@melanieg.9092 thank you. I’ve never heard the phrase heard before.
EFN is so hit or miss with plants…my collection is very similar to yours, as in we have a lot of the same plants, and none of mine have produced EFN. Well, actually I remember there being some on my Dean McDowell a few years back, but it went away after a couple of weeks. my glorious hasn’t produced any either, so it’s clearly a plant to plant thing…
The price will come down but not for the next ten years. The var. tortum.
I’ve had my billietiae for 2 years and it won’t grow for shit 💀💀
Unfortunately i am not a Philodendron fan. I like seeing them in other peoples collection. I only owned the White Princess which is pretty with his green and white leaves. And it did give me a pink variegation leaves. But i eventually sold it cause the white parts keeps bleaching brown. Also i don’t like plants growing in a 360 patterns. I prefer compact and trailing plants. I am noticing more in your close up videos your eyes have some black specks and lines at the white parts in both eyes. Looks a bit like a crystal have at times there patterns. Apologies.
no bc why is the brandtianum such a jerk 🥲 mine is so ugly
