Brit Marling is probably the only modern film maker I'll be really excited to meet in person. Probably one of the few people doing original yet communicating movies these days.
The OA is the Best Netflix original series now. Better than stranger things. I'm so hyped for season 3, and I'm so addicted to this series specially brit marling her beauty is unique.
"Which remind us again you're all individuals and not.. a MOVEMENT" if Brit and Zal had any part of OA thought out by this point, this interviewer must have made them veeery creeped out by his use of certain key words ahauhauaha jkjk
Ever since Another Earth i've been wondering why i see something "special" about Brit's face. In this hyper detailed shot video i finally realized it. Brit is minutely lame on the left upper half of her face. From her left eye lid to left cheek it is slightly slow. It gives Brit a very special real world quality.
I did not expect to like this movie, but I did.I wish it received the attention it deserves. Brit is amazing in it. I hope she continues to make indie films in the future.
I love listening to Brit and Zal - both such charming, thoughtful, open people. Esp Brit with that particular cadence to her voice.. lovely to listen to. Not a huge fan of the interviewer - he has an abrasive quality to his voice and the comments he makes that indicate a rather large ego, but overall I enjoyed this.
Despite Roma and Alfonso Cuaron's cinematic prowess, when you realise how much Netflix spent in just the promotion campaigns it's still doesn't seem fully justified and fair when seen against amazing but unpopular independent films from around the world who're not able to have even 10% of what Roma managed to do.
I never believed in the Supernatural before it's so something happened to my house now I really believe there's another entity from the person that lived there before and the suicide of my best friend I found in the cellar.
28:52 Zal: "It's a weird-ass movie." The weirdness of "The Sound of My Voice" accentuates the unbelievable nature of living within a cult and the uncertainty of what was going on. Going by indie film standards though, it's not that weird.
Love these guys and their work, really really super interesting, am waiting impatiently for The OA Part II. They say a lot of stuff that is absolutely spot on: people ARE hungry for quality, it's the fake capitalist economy that tells us that people don't, but there's no study underpinning that. If you only get cheap stuff, sure, you'll take it. But if given a choice, people will always go for better. Also the fact that this is happening now, in a very specific time: these people and these stories are indeed exactly in the right place at the right time. Really significant that we get such movies now. I'm really thankful that some comment somewhere pointed me to The OA, I feel like having discovered something meaningful. But at 12:45: Zal: "The lucky audience member that's gonna walk into "Sound Of My Voice" without knowing anything about the film, and maybe hasn't seen Brit before, they'll be like: "Who's that? That's an interesting person, I want to know more about that person." And then they find that she also wrote the script. That's a good story!" Erp... Someone who, in their late twenties, wrote a movie about a guru-girl for herself so she could play being the Wise Woman that people worship...? I thought "That woman seems to have a serious ego-issue going on..." :-DDD
I have a bunch of questions about this movie and what I thought were the two key elements of the story. Casting was spot on, and the story brilliant; is it part of a trilogy? (Do better than Margaret Atwood did, please!). And was THE COMPANY YOU KEEP any influence on THE EAST? The night scenes of Havana compared to Miami? And finally, the Vampire Weekend (?) for the credits for THE SOUND OF MY VOICE. Oh, and I really loved the movie.
There is a part of the movie I don´t understand and I have searched everywhere. Why did the dad inject the girl with something between the toes, I guess some kind of drug. then she was tired at school. I just don’t understand the point. This movie is an amazing movie, I still think of it today, its so creepy. I love the ending its so enlightening, it’s so WOW!
Probably not at all? Don’t assume they’re “high”. Given Brit’s other interviews, and with Zal, they seem on a much different level than most. The OA has a lot of metaphors and influences, one of which is a story on an Iranian legend of mystical birds, written by Zal’s father. And numerous other mythologies and stories. Also, their having faith in each other, meeting certain people, delving into all the things that inspire, captivate, and motivate them. Maybe some people see that as being “high” or typical indie film “strangeness”, but I see it as them being more in touch with life, themselves, and each other on an artistic level.
Brit Marling is probably the only modern film maker I'll be really excited to meet in person.

Brit Marling has got to be one of the most original, interesting person in Hollywood.

Just watch OA season 2- great to see how far she’s come. Very inspiring
That season is one of the greatest seasons of any show I've watched, right up there with the third season of Twin Peaks
People behind The OA. No wonder... They are just... Have the touch. Have the brain and desire and that hard work for it. The spark for it is in them.
The magic of this interview is, that they just genuinely seem to be themselves. :)
Surrounded by several comfy seats yet sitting on the floor!
Love it😊
Love these guys. Super intelligent and I hope they keep making things their own way
Phoebe Louise She sure told Weinstein where to go.
I came. I saw. I bought the blurays for all their projects. Seriously, these guys are so amazing.
Brit truly is a magical being ❤ And Zal too, in a different way, but also the best of ways ❤
I like how they are sitting cross legged on the floor considering the imagery from the film.
The two of you are amazing. Do Not stop what you're doing...Love Love Love all of it.
Terrific interview; revealing, intriguing, with delightful people who gave insight to the world of film-making like I have never heard before.

leo silva Same lol, she has such a calming voice, I could listen to her forever 💚

You can almost see Zal and Brit starting to formulate the marketing plan for The OA Part III here....
Hope so

I think you are seeing things.
I like how they're just chilling and sitting on the floor while there's 2 couches behind them.
Sound Of My Voice was amazing btw.
i love her face
12:46 definetly, i was amused when i realized she wrote the story, they both really talented, she is some kinad of inspiration for me right now.
"Unless you kill Brit repeatedly" oh man, 2012 and the interviewer never knew how right he was 🤣🤣🤣
Love love love these people ❤️ Thank you for sharing!
I did not expect to like this movie, but I did.I wish it received the attention it deserves. Brit is amazing in it. I hope she continues to make indie films in the future.
She is stunningly beautiful. I loved this movie.

Agree. The interviewer seems intimidated or jealous and is probably overcompensating.
I love how she keep her natural beauty and not trying hard unlike those plastics we see in Hollywood.
shes the most beautiful women....
Absolutely true
Love everything these guys have done.
Just got done watching "The East"
Loved the movie so much, that I just had to find out what you were all about!
Hope you found and enjoyed the OA too
She is magic
Brit nailed him on that burger comment
classic, classy, absolute, beauty !

What a great team.
yeah she has a really intelligent and introspective way of speaking, I am entranced by her as much as I was with Maggie, but more positively of course
She is the medium. He’s the engineer.
Love her vampire teeth ;)
The Forest . Her vampire teeth suit Her beautifully face perfectly ..
Anime fangs
I though of them like bobcat teeth

Wonderful Brit Marling.

Wow I didn't know Zal has such a sweet voice
I actually expected him to have a more gruff voice personally.

i would love to mmet brit in person one day, i know i would XD
She kinda looks like a sexy vampire. But love her movies, Another Earth was really awesome.
When you have in your team good actor, like Brit, people get interest in their previous works, so you actualy dont need 20 mil for advertising...
she's so sweet =D
Umami Burger!
She looks like hayley williams from paramore.
I've never been a blonde guy but wow Brit is dreamy
why are they sitting on the floor, the couch is right there!

Zal - please write Brit into a vampire role 🧛♀️ 🩸
There's a huge fart 16:38
She has a lisp.
She does. A very slight interdental lisp, and it's totally charming. Just works for her :)
Why does she have vampire teeth?
Crazea are u serious
Her eyes seem to point to two different directions.
Bored listtening to these people.
