This video is almost 8 years old & has the most clear explanation on how to true a rim. Every other video confused me, this one was straight to the point & i actually learned something. Thanks bro !
I was able to just straighten mine with a regular old adjustable wrench!! I know it's not recommended cuz it might strip the spokes but it worked in a pinch..
It might take rebuilding a wheel. But good luck have fun. I can tell you you can fix some wheels which are really out of whack, but it takes a bit of time and knowledge.
Thanks for this. I tried this once in junior high - I was winging it and the result was a disaster. After that I was too intimidated to try again until I watched this. Today I got the rims on my bike and my wife's bike straight as an arrow and the brakes adjusted perfectly. Thanks again.
I started doing my own a few years ago, way more cool than paying a small fortune at a shop ,all these helpful vids on you tube mean you can all do it yourself, just be brave and go for it ,air forks are easier than you think /bottom brackets/ all will save you money 💰 doing it yourself and you get satisfaction you've fixed yourself own bike 🚲 🤟🇬🇧💯
Using this technique I was amazed how well I was able to true this wobbly bicycle rim. Just happened to have the tire off and the inner rubber liner as well. The back side of the tightening screws for the spokes on this wheel were slotted for a regular screw driver. Using the screwdriver instead of a wrench or pair of pliers made the task even easier. This wheel is spinning like a roulette wheel now. Thank You for your informative video.
@luigiprovencher8888 bike shops often work with minimum prices. If I want anything done at a local place they will bill parts + minimum an hour labour, even if it's 5 minutes. 1 hour and 10 minutes is billed 2 hours etc. And theyre always full of bikes waiting to be repaired. So maybe it's the same for this guy, but I agree, fixing should be much cheaper than replacing new to not promote waste economies
That is fantastic, Out of all my years of having bicycles I never knew this was possible.I always assumed if my bicycle rim would wobble it was caused from being bent or if I has loose spokes I would just tighten the snot out of them... Good Stuff & thanks for sharing!
Great, simple lesson on how to get your wheel to spin without a wobble. I was taking my wheels into the bike shop tomorrow, but I have no wobble in the wheels now. Thanks much!!
Thanks man, that’s all I gotta do? Thought I would have to transport to bike shop and back and be at the mercy of the chip reader! That is a smooth/ clean video explanation that will live in infamy now.
Thank you for that video. Im using bime to get to work, my spoke have broken so I had to weld a bit to it so its not too short anymore but watching this sparked the whole process of fixing it as well was bent really bad. Thanks again mate I hope you are doing great
Thank you! I've always wondered about spokes - adjustment, and I go back a-ways. I can remember when we would convert the Schwinn Stingray to a BMX bike...
Had a golden stingray in 1970. Best memories popping wheelies. Brothers friend stole it I'm sure. Saw him at 40th class reunion...unemployed and never achieved anything...thought all those years to confront him to see the look on his face, but let it go...
@@westvalley411 Yeah, I think your gut told ya all ya needed to know, but yeah, those were the enchanted years! BTW, is West valley in California around the Topanga Cyn area?
That's awesome. I thought that my wheel was bent but maybe I just need to have this done. They want $25 from my local (not so local as it's in a few towns or cities over) bike shop to straighten it or true it up.
I have a fixie bike and the rims are almost 10 years old and the spokes have never been tightened. The rims are straight but spokes are loose! Can I just snug them up or does it have to be done in a special pattern I dont' even want to make them tight just snug so they are okay...
Thank you for such a no-bullshit answer to what starts as an easy question! These other guys, "The thing of it is..." And once they've done complaining about "that one time" and telling the story of their stupid friend and the day their niece got their first whatever, and sprinkle in some technical jargon "the ACTUAL nipple ITSELF" makes me furious. As William Zinsser put it in On Writing Well: Say your thing with as few and small words as possible without compromising the meaning, then make for the nearest exit.

This video changed my life. Easy and to the point without the guff that comes with a lot of videos.
Very well done. Simple/clear explanation. I got my two rims straightened out in just 5 mins, with an $8 tool.

this was the clearest and most unpretentious video.
Agreed 💯
Nicely explained in under 4 minutes, thanks.
Some other video took 12 minutes to ramble and confuse the explanation.

My especiality was never rebuilding a wheel. My specliality was rebuilding the hub. Be it the rear or the front.

Thanks, you saved me a lot of money. I bought a tool for 3 dollars here in Norway 🇳🇴

2 mins and I'm on cloud 9! That was straight to the point and easy to digest!! 🎉🎉❤

This is a very well done instructional video! It explains and effectively demonstrates the essentials very quickly and clearly.
Here’s someone who can explain the problem and the fix in a very short period of time. Thanks!
Excellent video fixed my bike very quick. Took my bike to a Giant dealer they couldn't fix the brake rub!! This worked like a charm!
They picked the wrong profession, whoever it was working at Giant. 😆
Don't go back to that bikeshop!
Your video should be No.1 on youtube search for bike wheel truing. Thank you sir
Time is money. Time is valuable! This video is less than 4minutes and was clearer than the all the other 10+ minutes! Great video sir!
I really appreciate this simple explanation. I was ready to take a $50 bike in for $100 tune up. Now I will fix it myself!
Shouldn't even cost you that much to have this performed in a bike shop unless it has to have other things done to it.

Mate, you’ve saved me! I was struggling for like 20 minutes then tried this out and worked immediately!

same here i thought once my wheel wobbles/a bit buckled it was ready for the bin 😂
youll make your wheel far less true by just tighteniong them... this example is nothing like a normal tire requires to properly true.
@@thefacelessone74Then how does it get properly trued?
This is the best way to explain to straighten the wheel!
Lifesaver. Honest video with clear instructions. Thank you!
Thank-you! Great job explaining which spokes to tighten and loosen. Fixed my wobbly tire at home!

I watched maybe 10 videos in relation to that and was unable to understand but yours is the perfect one❤
Quick & informative. Perfect. Thank you.

Thank you for that video.

Clear video thanks for this!
Great video, thanks for sharing.
Excellent keep it simple makes much more sense when there's not a lot of verbage
Important to deflate/remove the tyre and squeeze the spokes together after tuning to remove residual tension.
I rode my bike around a bit. Seemed to work.
Saved me good video brought spoke key tightened every single spoke first time 😂
In general, how tight should all the spokes be? Just like lightly hand tight? Or tighter than that?
If i knew this at my childhood... Now i can be a gear dad
It done the trick thanks buddy 👍
Thanks homie 👍 big help

Do you need to loosen opposite side spokes as you tighten so you don’t create a flat spot in the wheel?
Thank you!
