- While visiting the Garden Center I noticed all these succulent leaves on the ground. So I figured I would collect a few, take them home and propagate! The best part is. . . the store manager said it was OK! WhoooHooo this was a fun trip to the garden center and a great way to get free plants for my garden! I also looked for dead flower heads to harvest seeds from but it was a little early in the season for that.
The practice of "proplifting" involves scanning the floors and grounds of garden centers and nurseries for pieces of plant material (stems and leaves) that have broken off the plants and would otherwise be thrown away. These pieces are gathered up by the proplifters and taken home, where they're placed in soil or water to grow roots and become healthy new plants.
I do the same thing with picking the plants that broke off
Good morning Gigi and thank you for taking the tine to comment! The workers at the big box store told me they just sweet the floors and throw everything away. They laughed when I asked for permission to take broken peaces home. Glad to know you give them a chance as well. 👍❤️🥰
Maybe this is a good time for neighbors and friends to start swapping plants with eachother. I can't afford those high prices either.
I totally agree with you, Iris. I shared some seeds with my neighbor, and she is going to share some with me. By the way, I made this video just for fun and I do not encourage shoplifting in any way. Hahaha but yes, I can get a little depressing sometimes especially when I watch these other channels and these girls are planting 20 1 gallon container plants. I am like, “my goodness how to do afford that?”hahaha I need to set up a PO Box so I can do seed swaps with friends. Thanks for stopping by. 😄😄😄Liz
My garden centers throw plants away, and they always let me take them. sometimes I can revive them. it's fun!!!
It sounds like you have a wonderful garden center candy. And knowing that they are giving you permission probably makes it more fun and less guilty. I’m happy for you. 🥰👍❤️
Maybe dont straight up break them off when you're in the stores
Totally agree with you Rose! That is certainly fair! Thank you for stopping by and sharing your comment. Have a beautiful day Rose! ❤️🌸🥰
I hope you all are having a great day in your garden too! Thanks for watching my video, I love reading all your comments 👍👍👍🥰🥰🥰 Liz
I had never heard of 'proplifters', how fun! I need to get to know our closest big box store garden center managers to ask permission from.
Hello my friend I appreciate your positive feedback. This video has definitely received a lot of controversy. It’s fun to hear the different opinions of others. I appreciate you stopping by and wish you luck in your proplifting adventures. Hahaha 🥰🥰🥰👍👍👍 Liz
I'm so happy to find that I am normal! It even has it's own word. I did not know "proplifting" was a thing.
Good morning Violet (Violet is my granddaughter’s name) I appreciate you taking the time to visit me. I just learned that proplifting is a name by watching CZcams videos myself.hahahaha I don’t like that name because it makes one think up of shoplifting which I would never do. But it did make for a fun video. Thank you again for your comment and I hope you have a beautiful day in your garden too or wherever you are today.❤️🥰👍Liz
Thank you for the tips! Happy Gardening!!
Thank you for stopping by! I appreciate you taking the time to comment! 😇❤️🥰👍

Thank you Jeff I hope you have an amazing day!
I absolutely love your garden! I loved the plant tips! I’m ready for spring to arrive. Taking a while…I’m in the Midwest..
Well hello there my new friend I appreciate you for taking the time to comment. I think the whole world is ready for spring it was definitely a very long winter with some challenging weather. You guys out in the Midwest have been experiencing tornadoes where they have never been before. Here’s to a happy spring for all of us. Thank you again for stopping by. 🥰👍❤️🌸😍 Liz
I LOVE that hat, too 🤷🏻♀️👒❣️😆
Thank you Sarah! I got it at my local thrift store for $1.00 its my favorite! 😍👍❤️Liz
first time here.. ty for sharing these great tips.. i hope to find some daisy at my local or big box nursery. that marigold tip i will try.. omg i love bouganvillea
Hi Jazmin. . . glad you enjoyed my little tips. I bet Bougainvillea grows GREAT in Florida!!! You have some gorgeous weather down there for sure! Hope you have an amazing day! Liz
I went to lowes and home depot. I was too nervous that they were watching me on cameras
Thank you for your comment. I totally understand! Never go against what your heart and conscious tells you! 🥰❤️👍😀Liz
Liz, my daughter go to Home Depot and rescued all little piece plant from the floor ! She loves plants just like you! Thanks 🙏
Hahaha that is so awesome! What fun! Do you teach your daughter how to propagate then and make new plants? 👍😃🌸
I went to my local garden centre yesterday and I could not believe the prices of plants and soil 🙄
Oh my goodness Jasmine right!!!! I could not believe it either. It’s so discouraging. Honestly I have been planting so many things from seeds this year. I cannot afford to buy plants at those prices. 🫤
Yes the price of plants this year is really outrageous. I am cutting back big time on the number of plants I get this year. It would not surprise me if stores get stuck with tons of unsold plants because people can't or won't pay the prices, so they are limiting their plant purchasing like me.
@@silverdawnintx I totally agree 🙄
So true Silverdawnintx. . . When I was at HomeDepot the selection was not very good. The plants were very small and the prices were very high. And many things were dead! Maybe that lack of employees as well. It's not their fault because of the economy. .but you can totally tell things aren't right. At this point I feel it's almost better to support our local nurseries because they are usually family owned. If we are gonna pay high prices for a few things I would rather get a better quality plant and keep those family business alive! Anyway sorry for rambling on. . . lol Thank you for your comment!
LMAOOOOOO 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
This video is GOLD as are the comments 😂😂😂
Oh my goodness I am so happy you enjoy my sense of humor. I am not a thief or anything. . . I just like to have fun I guess. Thanks for stopping by : ) Liz
The prices of plants are very high, aren't they? Your tips are very clever 👍☺️ ! Every little piece of plant is a new life in your garden! "Liz, the thief of the garden center"!!!😂😂😂😂😂 Kisses, kisses!🤗💖🌹
Hello Panagiota Skoylida Yes I agree the prices are super high!!! So I have been growing alot of things this year from seed. I enjoyed reading your comments… you made me smile 😅
Lol! I take pieces that have broken off and on rare occasions (smiling) I do a little pruning. Joy! Joy!
@@lucypearlmorgan3115 you have a great sense of humour! Kisses from Greece!👍👍
Hahaha thank you for your nice comment Lucy! It makes me feel a little better to k ow I wasn’t the only one! ❤️👍🥰🌸 Liz
I agree! We need more smiles and happiness in this crazy world!
Inflation is leading to justifying questionable practices.
You are very wise Cheryl and make a good point! Thanks for stopping by! 🥰👍🌸❤️ Liz
You can buy plants, seeds, and trees of edibles with foodstamps. It helps supplement your food cost when you grow at least some of your own food
Oh wow I never knew that. Thank you for sharing that information. It’s so good to know. Appreciate you taking the time to comment.👍🥰❤️Liz
Wow, I love your knowledge on all these plants- thanks for sharing! One note, please don’t break plants! I support proplifting but purposely taking away from the plant is a bit unnecessary! I’m going to subscribe to you though because you show beautiful flowers and succulents! (I’m a young new plant owner with over 30 succulents lol). Sending ❤️.
Hello Artistguess thank you for taking the time to visit me. I appreciate your kind words and honesty about this video. You are absolutely right I should never break off plants. To be honest with you I don’t normally do that. I guess I got a little carried away in making this video but it is totally unnecessary. I agree. Well, you certainly do have a lot of plants. The succulents definitely are addicting. One can never have too many. Thank you again for your comment and I hope you’re having a beautiful day in your garden to.👍🥰❤️Liz
@@GardenHappy Thank you! You’re honestly the best when it comes to communication, honesty, and plant. Glad to be here!
Awwww thank you for your kind words! I definitely try to respond when people take the time to comment. I watch a lot of CZcams channels myself I know how it makes me feel when I get ignored versus when someone responds. I hope you’re having an amazing day. Thanks again for stopping by.🥰👍❤️Liz
Let me know how that aloe turns out. I have yet to see someone actually propagate an aloe leaf cutting that doesn't have a piece of stem attached.
You are so right! It was a big fail!!! Hahaha thanks for the feedback! 🌸🥰👍❤️ Liz
If you can find one with even the slightest bit of root stock on it then it should work! Happy hunting!
Good to know… thank you! 👍
That’s stealing. Put it in your cart…you mean your purse
Good morning and thank you for taking the time to watch my video. I appreciate your comment. The manager at Home Depot said anything that is on the floor will get swept away and thrown in the garbage, so they don’t mind if customers take the fallen pieces of plant material and give them new life. Especially if we buy soil to plant them in! ❤️🥰👍 Thanks again for stopping by and I wish you a beautiful day! 😇Liz
I’ve never seen marigolds looking so droopy. Not in a container or in the ground. They look in sad shape.
Oh Lori aren’t they just terrible? I couldn’t believe they would even put those out on the floor for people to purchase. Honestly I just don’t think people are doing their jobs. Somebody didn’t water those. Anyway I hope you are having a wonderful weekend. By the way…. Is this the same Lori i know from Family friends?
🤍🤍🤍
I dont advise this..lol..while tempting it's not worth being banned from the box store..lol
Good morning Mike… do you really think they would actually ban a good customer for picking up their trash??? Hahaha J / K I appreciate your comment. 👍👍👍 Liz
@@happyme3361 funny!
its called stealing
Thank you for your comment! I appreciate you stopping by and sharing your thoughts.
So you consider picking up literal trash 100% headed for the bin theft?
She stole that piece of sedum. She purposely broke it off and took it.
I GAGGED AND CACKLED 😂🤣😂🤣😂
Picking up a broken piece up off the floor is one thing, but breaking off a piece of a plant is stealing.
I couldn’t believe it. Wow! You have no shame, respect, and are completely lacking integrity. 🤯
Good morning Julie and thank you for taking the time to comment. I’m sorry that my video gave you such a negative impression pf me. The manager at Home Depot knows me by name and is fully aware of the content. I am filming in the store before I turn my camera on. So while I have gotten permission for my activities, I did not consider the way it would affect my viewers. I apologize that my actions offended you. Once again, I thank you for taking the time to comment and appreciate your honesty. 🌼🌸👍Liz
I am more than confident that Home Depot Corporate Offices would not support your actions, your encouraging thousands of others do the same (break off pieces of plants to propagate), nor their employees approving this behavior. You even dare to call it “proplifting” yet it still doesn’t occur to you that it is wrong. 😞
Hi again, Julie you have very good points and I respect your opinions regarding. I have a feeling that no matter how I answer you at this point you’ve already made up your mind on who you think was there, what was said and what I truly think about the whole matter. However I regret that this video has provoked negative feelings, encourage bad behavior and will consider removing it. Thank you again for taking the time to comment. I appreciate your honesty. 👍Liz
lol...corn starts...give me a break....go to a real greenhouse
Omgoodness I was thinking the sane thing!!! Hahaha thanks for your comment you made my day! 🤣
Difinitely fun. But i embarrassed to pick up any debris that laying around the ground.i don't people telling me,that asian babes is very cheap..trust me.i am a minority in cananda.😂
Good morning Faye and thank you for your comment. For some reason I always thought you lived in Alaska! Haha 😄🌸💜👍 Liz
I absolutely love your garden! I loved the plant tips! I’m ready for spring to arrive. Taking a while…I’m in the Midwest..
You are so sweet London city. I appreciate you stopping by and taking the time to watch. It really feels like spring is finally here. We sure did wait long enough didn’t we? I hope you have a beautiful day in your garden too. 😄❤️🥰👍 Liz
