    Yes, I like your garden designs. Good juxtapositions of shapes, colors and textures.
    Here in southern Vermont we have the Dummerston Perennial Swappers club started some thirty -three years ago by two ladies who were tired of throwing their perennials in the compost pile when others wanted those same plants. We meet every two weeks at different locales, swap plants at 6 p.m. on the dot, put a dollar in the cookie box for the maps to the local home gardens we visit after the swap. We always get good ideas from one another, and advice from the more experienced gardeners. You don't have to bring a plant to swap if you are just starting out. People are very generous around here.

      This sounds wonderful and so much fun! Thanks for sharing. As plants grow and need Dividing it's always so nice to be able to give them away or do swaps. An affordable and fun way to grow the gardens 🌱

    Thank you for all the tips. I didn't realize you can grow Spirea from cuttings, I'm going to try that. I do love them. I bought a Purple Fountain grass one time and found out it wasn't hardy here. I'm in zone 8B.

    Lowe’s and Walmart are great places to get clearance plants, never really see anything at Home Depot. When I go to Lancaster, PA there is a house that always is dividing plants and have them for sale $1.50 a plant. Also have a native plant nursery that has ugly plant sale and besides discounts on plants, some can be free. But every now and then nice to treat yourself to a plant you really like. 😊

    • @HookedandRooted

      Hi Terri, so satisfying to find good plants on clearance. Even better to get plant divisions from other gardeners. So fun to treat ourselves to a special plant, or wish list plant every so often. Makes it that much more enjoyable.

    Pee uh nee - fun video. Your garden is lovely and you found some great deals! I would have lost my mind 😂 grab those deals .
    The sedum you can just snap off a stem and stick it in the ground. Your black eyed Susan’s are neat and a nice height. Mine are leggy ( I wish they’d stay in a mound ) I try to half cut them and stagger heights, but they want to be weeds amongst the shastas . I’m going to try harder because yours are beautiful !

    You are so lucky to grow all the plants and flowers you are showing and I don’t see any fence to protect them because I Would wake up one morning and find them all eaten by the deer and I find this very frustrating……

    • @HookedandRooted

      Hi there! We have lots of deer and bunnies. I spray repellent every week or so. More often if it rains. I focus more in plants they are more likely to eat. These include daylilies, Coneflowers, and hydrangeas. It's a job to keep them away. I do my best.

    • @jessicabradshaw3365
      @jessicabradshaw3365 Před 2 lety

      Agree with the deer repellant! I get some on Amazon called Deer Stopper and so far the deer are being repelled. It’s not a good idea to spray on anything you’ll eat though!

    • @HookedandRooted
      @HookedandRooted  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi Vanessa!! I actually don't know. I had to pull it because it was too aggressive and required so much divisions to size control. My sister in law gave it to me. You could try Karl Forester grasses. They are much more compact.

    • @HookedandRooted
      @HookedandRooted  Před rokem +1

      Hi there, Thank you very much. Its listed in the description section of my videos. Zone 6. After a perrenial is about 3 years old on average, its a good candidate to split. Some grow quicker, and can be split sooner.
