    NAVSOG (Naval Special Operations Group) is the former name, it is currently called as NAVSOCOM (Naval Special Operations Command). Their official insignia has a Trident and Shark, so if you ever see that insignia dont ever fight with them in the bar. 😁😄😜 Besides they are cool and very respectful, so fighting with them would be your least amount of concern.

    The Philippine military has been fighting wars for hundreds of years. The country's history has been written around wars both foreign and domestic. The local insurgency has been around for over 4 decades, and there have been armed conflicts even before that, just after the end of WW2. Speaking of WW2, the Phil military fought the Japanese (along side the U.S.). The lack of sophisticated equipment, EXPERIENCE and exceptional COURAGE and DEDICATION of the Filipino soldier have carried them through time.

    The pioneers of the NAVSOG were once called SWAG or Special Warfare Group. When it was first organized, some US Navy SEALs/UDTs were tapped in to help train the first Philippine Naval Patrol UDTs. If my history knowledge serves me right, they were once also called the UDTs. They were also made to wear the extremely skimpy khaki shorts 😂. But kidding aside, the phases of the training were also cascaded from the training pattern of the US Navy SEAL BUDS training. The first month is the motivation phase and it will be concluded by the seven-day Hell Week. And speaking of Hell Week, it is also a common phase of training in the Scout Rangers, Special Forces, PNP Special Action Force, Special Operations Wing, MARSOG (Force Recon), and Philippine Coast Guard Special Operations Force. And for additional information, the current commanding officer of the Coast Guard SOF, Vice Admiral Hernando, was once a NAVSOG member and a graduate of US Navy SEAL BUDS.

    , The insignia they wore on their upper left chest above the 'NAVY' is the Philippine Navy SEAL Badge. Sometimes they also wear a Parachutist Badge above it. When you see any of them wearing a US Navy SEAL Trident on their upper right chest, it means that he had been on a joint exercise with a US Navy SEAL Team and had been awarded that honorary SEAL Trident, though most of them don't usually wear it. The National Ensign (Philippine Flag) and/or Specialization Badge is worn on the right arm. The Unit's Badge (Naval Special Operations Unit #) or sometimes SEAL Team # is worn on the left arm.

    • @johnsmithe498
      @johnsmithe498 Před 2 lety

      No the only way they wear the trident” Budweiser “pin as it’s known is by attending buds as a Philippine SEAL and completing full 6months of US Navy buds selection. No Philippine Navy will allow its sailors to wear it without going thru it. It’s same for other courses offered to foreigners 3 weeks for gold wings for jump school out of brag . Sniper school , Non Navy combat diver out of Florida ect.
