  • OH BOY, time for more vulnerability huh?
There are a lot of reasons for why I wanted to put out this video. There's power in visualization.. and while I've put out a verbal explanation of my own story before, I've never actually shown everyone what my journey has looked like..
I'm taking a step out here to show you as much as I possibly can. Why?
Because there's power in honesty and openness. There's power for people going through an eating disorder / anorexia. There's power for people who aren't in an eating disorder, but that know others who are.
My hope is that this episode will help connect with you a little bit more.
For those of you going through an eating disorder right now, I hope this gives you HOPE. I hope it shows you what the recovery path looks like, and that you're NOT alone in the middle of all of this.
For those of you on the outside (not necessarily in an eating disorder), I hope this gives a more clear picture of how an eating disorder can physically affect someone. I hope it allows you to recognize it a little bit better.
In other words, I'm going to show you what I looked like when I developed Anorexia. I'm going to show you what it looked like for me to recover, then relapse again in college, and recover fully.
I sincerely hope you receive something valuable from this visual journey through my eating disorder story / recovery.
Stay safe out there, folks! Let me know if you need anything 🙏🏼

Hi Cameron. I'm 20 years and actually in recovery now I think. Basically my anorexia background is oddly the same as yours (I'm struggling with it since I'm a 12 boy). Honnestly I was almost giving up in my recovery one week ago that I started with my ED doctor. Now I'm not. I 've found your channel 5 days ago in the very beginning of my recovery and how to share you my gratitude... You really make me accept that anorexia is NOT a shame for anybody and furthermore it's NOT a shame for a man to have anorexia because this feeling had COMPLETLY reinforced the loneliness that I was feeling in addition with the social loneliness that ED already creat. Best of all you gave me hope in order to defeat quicker this SHIT (which is not gonna continue to lead MY LIFE).
Just take care of you :)
(french native speaker here sorry for the spelling and

Hey Guillaume! Thank you a TON for commenting. It's encouraging for me to hear your kind words, and to see just how much you're stepping into recovery. You might not even realize it yet, but these steps you're taking right now are HUGE steps into full recovery. I can already tell you've grown so much.
There IS hope, and you're ALREADY acting it all out. You're already stepping towards your true self, and pushing that ED mentality further and further away. Keep on pushing, keep on fighting for life 🤟🏼 Stay safe out there, and let me know if there's anything you need.
(Your English is great by the way!)

Thank you for sharing your story as a male individual. I believe it is much needed. I have struggled with an ED myself and am now mostly recovered. Even though I struggle with my body image a great deal still and also with many other mental health issues I couldn’t be more glad to be where I am now in terms of my anorexia. But it was a battle I cannot even put in words how hard this was. I had to travel to the other side of the world to get help but I did it. I survived it all. And it was so worth it.

    • @CameronYoder

It’s a hard battle to fight, isn’t it? Words and stories can’t break down just how difficult it is to recover from an eating disorder.. but hey, Im glad you took those big steps, and I’m glad you fought HARD to get to where you are now. Sometimes it’s good to take a step back and look at how far we’ve come.. keep on fighting, and keep on living 🙏🏼 Thank you for sharing, and thank you for all of the encouragement!

Yes it’s extremely hard and words indeed cannot illustrate HOW hard it is. And this is exactly why I am an eating disorder advocate. I want people to know that it is beyond difficult, yes but also entirely possible. I want people to know how worth it it is.

I know at my lowest I was 90ish lbs, saying I was more to avoid attention(doesn't work) being how I never enter inpatient and recovering on my *own, for it was nearly getting hit at 3am in the freezing 20s and knowing of Gods love, for me to seek self help. I know recovery is not easy. But I thank you for your support and advice you give. We're all in this together and we can overcome all things.

@@CameronYoder I also did have a few questions,
      1. Did you not crave certain food that your previous liked and tried to reincorporate and when you did, it did nothing for you?
      2. How to challenge and let go of "rules" when you can't detect them all and they may change day-to-day? Some even healthy, such as eating fruit (at certain time, is where it is unhealthy)
      3. Letting go of eating at certain times of the day(due to rule) but work, hunger etc makes you want to eat anyway?
I know each person is different and that what makes it difficult, but if any of these applied to you and you can give advice, thank you.

Thanks bro, appreciate that! Recovery is literally made of ups and downs.. Water-wise, I usually try to drink 136-170oz of water each day (loosely, though I don't track too much). I'll post my workout routine soon 😎

Hey Sydney! Thank you for the encouragement, and great question.. Long story short, I definitely compared myself to my brother. A lot of it all has to do with me comparing myself to just about everyone, but because he was my older brother, and because we were so close, I ended up comparing myself to him a lot actually (There's definitely a lot of that 'look up to my older brother' sort of thing there too). It's definitely a complicated piece of the ED story, but I weighed my comparison with him more than a lot of others.. Great question.
