I am convinced you ran out of stores in your old stumping grounds. The feeling you get when you find a store. I relate.
Haha Sherry , time to start over! I just don’t have all my weekly travels to find new and interesting places! Once pool season is over I can spend time exploring beforni get buried in snow
I see a store called Boogie Records??? I’m in!!! Holy Billy Joel!!! Great Jade Warrior. If I’m ever that way ( again ) will stop by. Awesome Steve! 🎉
Dan, always a pleasure to hear from you. So odd to find a record store in a town of 1400 people but it is a tourist center. You just never know where a record store will pop up. I got a lot of Colorado to explore
Gidday Steve, you must be having such a great time finding all these record stores, so much stuff yo choose from. Thanks.
Ken, I. Trying to focus on the smaller stores that people may not know about. Also places where I can park my work truck which is a huge pickup truck. Not easy to park, you need some room.
Hello Steve; Like the T-shirt the wife will love that one! We inform store owners whenever they're is a question concerning import or original pressings. In the 80's more so than in other decades records were imported & reproduced in the US. These were known as counterfeit imports, marketing designed to cut down on the expense of sending actual records to the US. Too bad the owner was unaware or did not care about the authenticity of the records. Take care, Tina & Pat~!
Most shop owners I have met take great care in making sure the pressings are correct. This was unfortunate and always goes to the adage of buyer beware. I now own my first pink T Shirt. Only took 65 years
Wow, Killer Stuff Steve. Enjoy!!!!!
Robbie, it was a pretty interesting store, though I paid too much for what I bought there were bargains to be found
Nice scores! Cool shop, I liked that Krautrock section. Funny to see all those Zappa bootlegs on the wall.
I thought of you Michael when I saw them. I figured you would appreciate it. It was a nice Krautrock section, something I don’t know much about but I know many of you do so might as well flip through and see what I missed out on!
Looked like a pretty cool store, thanks for sharing
You just never know where you can suddenly and unexpectedly find a record store
$5 and $10 records is where I like to stay. I'm sure I would have found some good stuff there. Lucifers Friend is a good record. Shame about getting mislabeled records - kids, am I right?
I must say that you do find some wonderful record stores Steve. They had a section for ‘Bad News’ fantastic! Pre-Spinal Tap spoofers, hysterical 😂 That was some Zappa wall! Great store. Mike (thewanabee)
Some others have mentioned Bad News, I had no idea what that was about wanna be Steve. It is crazy where you can find record stores. Even high in the mountains in little tiny towns
Great little town, lovely to hike around in Fall and Winter. Ryan is great too, we bonded on our mutual love of Mark Lanegan when I first visited some years ago. Looks like he's been expanding a bit, it used to be a lot smaller. That sucks about the records being mislabeled/priced though.
Ryan was a lot of fun to talk to, very enjoyable but yeah I definitely paid too much for those albums. That was a nice little town but it seemed so weird to have a record store there
3:22 - Hi Steve ! The Associates / Sulk my favorite album of 1982. Usually pretty affordable & worth picking up ( Especially the Import version ) Billy MacKenzie had an amazing voice.
No kidding, your favorite from 82, that is saying a lot David. They did have some interesting items and the town was packed with tourist
Cool little store, Professor! Looks very homey...and I was drooling at some of the classic 12" singles they had on the wall...interesting stuff in the bins, too....I think I'd enjoy looking around there for sure...have a good weekend, sir!
See, once in awhile I can show things that you like! Weird to find a store in a tiny little town. They were busy. Tons of tourists
@@stevecarlsonvinylcommunity9147 The thing for you to do is to grab a business card from the stores you visit and send me a copy so I can add them to the Record Store Rewind current database...one of these days it's actually gonna launch in full, and I need all the info I can get....:-0
I worked in mining in Eastern Nevada back in 2012.. Two seasons ( years ). Hard work, and good money. Did you say Nederland, Co. ? Dan Fogleberg named an album after that town. I just looked it up.. The miners would call it the " Netherlands" like Dans record 😊
Funny they would call it Netherlands as that country is as flat as a pancake. Those miners had a real sense of humor. Up until last year they had an annual celebration called Frozen Dead Guy day to celebrate funding a frozen dead guy many years ago. It ended last year, maybe no politically correct lol
James Taylor has his good song.. "The Frozen Man" a similar deal, and a great story lyrically.. Even if you don't listen to JT. So now there is a connection to DF and JT to Nederland, Co !! Haha 🌄
I have never heard of Neverland, CO. A pink t-shirt is pretty cool, though I think I could not pull off that colour 🙂Nice scores!
Brian, I have no idea what colors I can pull off haha. After 65 years i figured it’s time to have a pink shirt!
Looks like my kind of place. I only went as far as Aurora but still found some gems at the Arc Thrift Store. Didn't find the King of Travel, though LOL!
Next time give me advance notice and I will buy breakfast or lunch or dinner! I know I can find some weird place to take you to. Your score was impressive
Reggae section looking thin but some interesting stuff...never actually seen any Living Colour on vinyl...neither Jade Warrior or Lucifer's Friend to the best of my recollection...lots of Zappa and 80's classics on the wall...cheers Steve
He got a heck of a Zappa collection, glad I don’t collect him Doug , temptation would have been great. Rarely do I see a good reggae collection but if I do I just try to remember groups you have talked about
That Bad News lp cover will haunt my dreams. That Jade Warrior album is a good album, probably my fave by them, tho they have other good ones. Frozen Dead Guys Day used to be celebrated up in Nederland until 2023. Coffin races, a hearse parade, and "Frozen Dead Guy" lookalike contests were held. Just the typical dead guy stuff.
They were telling me about Frozen Deadguy Day. Pretty funny. I can’t remember what made them stop it. Maybe it wasn’t politically correct Dave
I remember going to a free mining museum in Nevada when I was a kid. I don’t think I would go to one now.
They had so many people working there or volunteering there that I came out so much wiser on mining lol. Now to apply it to my life , well I did learn tungsten is very heavy!
Hey Steve! Cool store! Back in ‘86 I lived close to Boogie Records in Kalamazoo so close I could walk over
I would have snatched up the Birth Control album 😂
I have both those albums you picked up cool music bummer about the misinformation on pressings
Take care Brian ☮️
Birth Control, that is a new group to me Brian. What kind of music is that? You just never know where you will find a record store
@@stevecarlsonvinylcommunity9147 Birth Control is a Krautrock band
5 to 10 💰 albums - all day long 😊. I see that Lucifers Friend group on the VC but I'm not familiar. Looking forward to your take. FIFO 🎉.
Those bins were filled with lower priced records. That was his sweet spot Greg. I of course have to spend more, why get a bargain when I can spend more lol. Lucifer’s Friend is a blue print for heavy metal music
Bummer on the misinformation about the pressings. Interesting record store. At least you had a fun day out with your family.
Steve, unless you are very aware of the specifics of an album you really do take the word of the shop owner. Buyer beware It was a great little unexpected town that we visited
i would have snagged that FINCH lp at the beginning of the vid. good instrumental prog like 73 era yes.
Finch, interesting. I have not heard of them but then I don’t know much about prog. Nice store
Mining museum, that sounds interesting. I’m glad I’m not the only one spending too much. Nice little store. Are you subliminally talking to me through your T-shirt? That would be my last visit to that record store. Sounds like he saw you coming a mile away. He should do the research when he is pricing the albums.
The albums were all priced in the bins and when I brought them up he talked about them. I guess he figured most people come up but then he won’t see them again. Nice guy. He did have a lot of very good deals but I went for the higher ticket. When I moved out here I bought very little, I seem to be making up for lost time Mark.
Steve, your family is looking out for you and pointing out record stores you might have missed. Boogie is a great name! Super organized. Does he label every artist? Hate you overpaid, sounds like he needs to spend some time on discogs to figure out dead wax. Peace ☮️ Namaste 🙏 the Zonkman
My problem is I don’t spend time at the record store checking the Deadwax on discogs. I have so much in discogs it takes forever to load. Not the first time Steve that has happened
@@stevecarlsonvinylcommunity9147 Steve, I have problems when I pull up discogs in the record store my info can be limited on the phone. Biggest problem is price copies are on sell for. I’ll see 30$ for the lowest price & it’s 35$ on the copy in my hand. When I get home I look again, the cheap copies for sale are all overseas. Cheapest price in the US is 65$. That’s my regret because I talked myself out of buying it. And just for clarification I was referring the store owner needs to get better at understanding deadwax. Still ok looking store. I’d probably find some 5 or 10$ records to put in the collection. Peace ✌️
Lots of cool albums there! Sad he said those albums are European presses. Yeah, trying to squeeze more money out.
Yeah it was Michael. I have too much in discogs so it tends to be slow on my phone so I don’t bother using it usually. At least I got a swirl!
I could buy Lucifer's friend because of Uriah Heep connection.
mr. Finglish (Bäd English Recs)
Mr Finglish maybe I am becoming a metal person? I think you have been influencing me way too much, so much hard rock lately. Next thing you know I will speak Finnish.
Reminds me of uncle eds in middle of nowhere chsse mi
OMG, I did a video on Uncle Ed’s. lol. I couldn’t believe this record store was truly in the middle of nowhere. That was just crazy but they were happy and seemed to be doing well.
@@stevecarlsonvinylcommunity9147 yes i visited that place after seeing your video! I have seen him at some record shows as well
That is fantastic. #1 reason I do these is to call attention to especially the little stores. The one in Chase still makes me laugh. I figured my GPS had to be broken lol
Nederland very close to the old Caribou Ranch recording studios. Joe Walsh, Elton, Chicago, Glenn Frey and tons more!
Ironic a Colorado mountain mining town being named after Europe’s flattest country. So flat parts of it below sea-level. Who says the Dutch arent funny? The Germans… who, arguably, aren’t. Nederland is also what we Scandinavians say, when we don’t say Holland (which the dutch don’t want anyone to say anymore, as it just one of the counties in the Netherlands)
Great little shop there Steve. Amazing a town of 1400 people can sustain it, but you get enough passers through trying to find something to spend money on…
What fun info on Nederland. I can see that in place of the Netherlands I wonder if there are German comics? Probably humor only a German would understand lol. You just never know where you will find a record store Morten
@@stevecarlsonvinylcommunity9147 I find German humour to be somewhat visual and a bit… ‘hick-ish’. Germans have a sharp sarcastic tongue, but perhaps not in a manner meant to be funny, more upsetting. Cake in the face and throusers down is hystarical, toilet humour, oddly not?
Lovely place. West of Boulder correct? Lot of weekend traffic no doubt.
I would contact that record store and tell them I was going to return them the next time I'm there, as they've been missold. If you're going to charge a premium, you really should be 100% certain of what you're selling. There's no excuse imo.
Most stores I go to they make sure the pressings are correct. A store like this has people that come in maybe once or twice a year since it is a tourist town. Most people they will not see again. Buyer beware
Maybe you should have stuck to the $5 and $10 Steve. Disappointing to pay import prices for domestics. Good thing you limited yourself. Never tell your wife the price unless it’s a cheapie. 😁😁Cheers.
I use to buy a cheap Neil Diamond or Barry Manilow record when I had a huge stack of records. I would put that on top of the stack and just show her what I got for her. Now she never listened to one of those records but she thought it was great I bought them haha
