- A FOND FAREWELL TO A VINTAGE TOY VENDOR
On December 9, 2023 I went to the first of a monthly card, comic, vintage toy, collectible swap meet called Crawfordsville Cards & Collecibles Show ( / logicalcollectibles . I ran into a very friendly, enthusiastic vendor named Layne. He was selling a large vintage Power Rangers collection. That’s not something I have much knowledge in and I don’t personally collect the line - but it all looked so good on his table. I figured I’d take a shot on a few pieces to do some research later. Layne gave me a great deal and it was a pleasure chatting with him. He reached out a few days later and we discussed me buying the entire collection. We didn’t quite come to an agreement on price but we stayed in touch for the next month. He would send me leads or ask questions about different lines. He would send me pictures of his latest pickups. Thru our brief interactions I could tell that he was a really nice guy with a passion for collecting.
Last week, I received a message from Layne’s cousin Bunny. She informed me that Layne had passed away and said that he had talked about our messages and the fact that I bought some stuff at the show. For obvious reasons, she was interested to know if the footage was still available. I had never made that day into a complete video - only because that particular toy line is something I’m still learning about. As a gift to Bunny and the rest of Layne’s family I decided to make this video in memory of him. Just a little snapshot of him doing something he enjoyed. Rest in peace, Layne.

you’re a good dude, anthony. RIP big fella, you can take it easy now.
I am not a collector of toys, but I have always watched your videos because of your friendliness and just the way you treat people. And there was nothing short of that in this video. I read your pinned comment and Anthony you are the kind of person this world needs more of. You have the upmost compassion for fellow man, and it’s awesome to see in todays society. You have a heart of gold, God bless you, your family, and friends. Thank you for being so kind and caring.
Thank you so much!
@@FroggyFlips hey 👋
Froggy Flips always a class act. May Layne Rest Easy. what a nice tribute to him and gift for his family. Strong Work my friend 😊
So sorry to hear of Layne’s passing! It’s cool to just see someone simply doing something they loved. That’s what life is all about ❤ Sending lotsa luv to his family!!
Life is about memories and that was a nice one
@@Mardigrasman23 I agree 👍
Condolences to Laynes family. You can tell from this video how much he loved what he was doing. What a kind gesture for you to post this video for his family to see him doing what he loves.
Froggy your politeness and genuine nature always shines through, it's a shame Layne passed. He looked like a big enough guy, I'm not far behind him sizewise, it's a message to all of us to stay healthy and get out for a few minutes walking every day. That's not a slur against Layne, he could have had any number of non weight related health issues, just a comment on on the overweight nature of our society in general. We don't eat well enough and we don't exercise enough either. I need to spend less time organising my vintage toys and watching youtube, and more time out in the fresh air! Love your work.
"So shines a good deed in a weary world". Well Done Mr.Flips! RIP Layne.
So nice of you to give this guy a farewell like this. Rip Layne, now you’re in all of our memories. ❤️
What an awesome tribute! He seems like a genuinely nice guy. Having recently lost my mother, my sincere condolences go out to anyone who was touched by this man's vibrance for life.
That dude is what we should all hope to be. Passionate as all hell about stuff we love.
You're a class act Froggy Flips. I am sure this video means a lot to the family. Can tell you are not just a lover of toys, but this collecting community as well. 🌮🐺
You’re an awesome guy Anthony, what a gift for his family to see him doing what he loved.
You’re such a great guy! That’s why everyone loves to see you and talk with you everywhere you go.
RIP Layne
No intro, no outro, not making this about yourself, Anthony, you are truly a class act.
RIP Layne, we just met you but your passion for collecting will be missed.
Froggy, I found your channel by pure chance, I am a huge toy lover and love watching your videos. Thanks for making CZcams a better place and you are a wonderful soul for putting this tribute up for Layne and his family. May he rest in peace! Keep up the good work LOVE YA!
That’s a beautiful gift for his family. You’re a class act Froggy.
So sorry to hear of his passing. At first I didn't know who Layne specifically was even with the thumbnail but knew i might find out if i continued watching. I did think it was so awesome how enthusiastic and knowledgeable the one gentleman was about the power ranger collection, my jaw dropped when I realized thats who it was. Thanks for sharing with us and his family.
RIP Layne. Thanks for being one of the good guys .
I'm pretty sure that Layne's family and friends are appreciated you put out this video for him. They can go back and watch what he was passionated about. R.I.P. Layne.
Of all the videos I've watched of yours the thing that impresses me the most is how well behaved your child was in one of them. You're obviously a good Father and it shows. Also your gesture here as well. All the best to you sir. Keep up the great work :)
R.i.p Layne. May the power protect Layne's families and friends! Once a ranger, always a ranger!! ❤

Oh man talk about hitting in the feels.
Glad you could give his family this gift.
Very nice of you! RIP Layne
He really did seem like such a nice guy. I'm only a year or two older than him too according to the age he said when Power Rangers first began. It's sad seeing such a warm spirited soul go so shortly. I don't know him outside this video you made, but my heart goes out to his family. Bunny, if you and your family is watching, I hope you all get through your loss without much struggle. Best wishes. ❤️

Thank you for sharing, even this brief interaction, so we can all realize that, Layne is the very best in what we all strive to be. Rest in peace good sir. Though you're gone, your legend lives on in you passing along your happiness to other people. Thank you FF.

I think it's really awesome to do this video in memory of him and his passions. We all collect different things but we all have that desire to share the knowledge of what we love with others. If I'm ever able to purchase some vintage power Rangers I'll have to do it in memory of Layne

Layne was a very very nice guy! Sending my love, condlences & prayers to anyone connected with Layne and to his friends and family. U in our prayers. Much love from The Netherlands. ❤❤
May his memory be a blessing🙏🏻💐
Mighty Morphan Power Rangers was big growing up. My mother, God rest her soul, sewed outfits for my sister and I. The show and toys were big in my family. I did not get into the newer stuff. 90s toys just hits the nostalgia. When you meet people like this they leave you happy. Like, that man enjoyed his collection and he wanted you to be apart of it too. Amen to that. Its unfortunate that he passed but im glad you were able to meet and the family reached out. Godspeed
thanks for sharing this video and story. Looks like he enjoyed talking toys and hey do what you love. RIP and prayers to his family.
Nice thing for the family his voice n personality is kept for ever
Bless your kind heart for doing this for him Anthony. ❤️ sending our condolences and prayers for Layne’s family.

You're a stand up guy Anthony. I appreciate that immortalized him here on your channel. Blessings to his family and God speed Layne. 🙏
Sitting here in Denmark on a rainy night and watching this video and it made my day. I have enjoyed many of your toy hunting videos over the past year but this made me hit that like button and finally subscribe to your class act channel. Great to see you doing such a kind gesture to another person you only knew for a short while. :)
Bunny, sorry for your lost. Layne sounded like a great guy
Wish he had seen this video. It would have made him proud! His sudden death was

Awesome! I only knew him for a month or so but he definitely seemed like a great guy!
@@FroggyFlips he was for sure! He donated a really good Pokemon card to a couple 7 year old twins who come in my shop. Cause it was damaged. They love it!

Rip Layne...respect from Scotland 🏴👊

Your a solid dude 🐸 y. This is why we all love you and your content. What a nice gesture for a fellow collector and his family.
A great tribute. RIP
Great video froggy and great dedication to the episode
I knew from the first time watching one of your videos and seeing the Misfits album in the background that you was a cool cat with good taste. This right here though, is what separates you from the rest of the channels. Such a nice thing to do and it is so rare to see someone who is always respectful to fans and vendors. Love ya!
I appreciate that!
You're a real class act Anthony!
Anthony you give me hope for the rest of the world, especially in these scary times we are living in. An absolute diamond of a guy.
Those Power Rangers Toys are pure nostalgia for me! Great video!
Rest in peace Layne . Love from the Uk to his friends and family 💙
With all of the technology that we have we don’t typically make videos of our family. After a few years it can be hard to remember what someone even sounded like. A video like this is great on so many levels.
Treasure hunting in the rain, you're definitely Dedicated Froggy. 💁🏿♂️🐸
That’s what I do!
RIP Layne ❤
Anthony: I was saddened watching the video and reading about Layne’s recent passing. It is always fun to watch a toy collector interacting 10:41 with others either a vendor or buyer. You paid him a great tribute.
