Legend of Total war is one of those rare CZcamsrs that focuses on covering Total War games and is not a paid actor. Most of the others are either being sponsored by CA or part of their affiliate programs, meaning they cannot be trusted to give honest opinions. And it's really easy to see which ones are the shill.
I would be less pissed at them if they would spend the extra money on yachts, flour, and ladies with questionable reputation.... But Hyenas?!

Also, TWW pretty much kept Warhammer Fantasy alive, so if it crashes because of their lack of care GW might start acting against them since they are clearly banking on TWW3 to promote Old World

The only way returning to historical strategy games or adding this late example of extraction shooter makes any sense is if GW is completely pulling the plug on warhammer games with CA.

There's always this weird assumption that players will switch from their existing game in favor of the new thing. That'd work only if your game is a big jump forward for the genre, I'd not be surprised if they think they are capable of that, but history shows these games usually fail.

@gregoryhouse5240 I feel you man, I built most of my Guard armies in 4th edition, heavily doctrine based and themed, 5th roles around with Robin Crudances pile of shit codex, same damn thing no warning doctrines are gone over night and it's now an order system that requires a backpack radio to give magical bonuses in shouting distance, every army I have is illegal overnight, worse still I can't even salvage a generic army (not that I wanted to) as every sargeant I've modelled for the last 5 years has a rifle (its minor but we all know a neckbeard who'd star moaning about it) and new codex says non-coms are pistol and sword. Then when I go in shop I find all the plastic box sets are the same price and have half the models.... So yeah, man can I empathise!

I remember literally sending the siege of Carthage trailer for Rome 2 to friends, then CA happened and I haven't played anything past shogun 2. I haven't touched Rome 2 or atilla, lack of unit collision just ruins everything for me

I've seen 5 or so Ads for that drag game, it gave me generic APEX / Slipstream vibes, and dismissed it as such.
Had no idea it was an extraction shooter nor that it had furries and drag. This news only justifies my dismissal.

Edit: just remembered that Exoprimal game, also by SEGA. Which in Japan was advertised with Hololive girls but in the West it had 3 drag things eating chicken... The rot is deep.

A large reason why CA has become like this is because of Warhammer itself. Unlike past historical titles, CA knows they don't have to put in as much effort and fans will gobble up any product regardless of quality

Remember how fantastic the Realms of Chaos Campaign was at release? If anything they should apologize to us customers AND not increase the price. And bugs from release are still in the game. After a year or two of patching. and new bugs pop up with every patch.
I still like their products. The price for the DLC is still really cheap compared to what Gamesworkshop is asking for their products. So i own every DLC they every made for Total Warhammer. That does not mean that i like their business practice.
I remember when Hyenas was unveiled with a lot of buzz on the run-up to the trailer premiere. Then everyone saw the trailer and was like, "wuh?" before immediately forgetting about it.
If there's one thing I learned from spending a decent amount of time actually working with upper management types, it's that, more often than not, they don't know or care in the least about the DEI stuff.
A lot of the time, the problem lays in the fact that management is so willing to delegate away, in it's entirety, the responsibility for understanding every aspect of how a company operates. As an example, say marketing comes to management and says "hey boss, drag queens are super in right now - we should add them to our next project". Management says "alright, let me talk to accounting first". Accounting tells management they don't know anything about drag queens, but they do know that their are multiple programs offered by federal and private institutions that will either provide tax incentives or investment for including them.
Instead of doing any research themselves or seeking another opinion, management will just accept the proposal and move on to the next order of business. Functionally, this turns management into glorified rubber stampers as they are forfeiting their responsibility as the oversight and guiding force of an organization.
You see the same thing in modern politics as well. Most politicians don't actually write any of the bills they present in government. Instead, the research, writing, and content of bills is all handled by party bureaucrats, NGOs, and think-tanks - making elected politicians little more then faces for otherwise faceless entities.

I don't think that Hyenas game is just virtue signalling. It looks like something created by people that pay too much attention to pop culture, to the point that they can write doctorates about it, but ultimately they have no skills in anything except pop culture knowledge. Yesterday I noticed that the DLC in question was already 10% off on Steam. Down from £20 to £18. For £7 more you can buy Rome Remastered, which is both the original and remaster of Rome, and both its supplements - Alexander and Barbarian Invasion.
New Warhammer DLC is always 10% off to pre-order on Steam. I know because I used to pre-order like that. Not anymore, Im just curious if its just that or its costing even less now.

You know I’d actually look forward to the game being discontinued by CA at this point. If Bethesda games and old total war has shown anything is that the modders care more about the end product than the developers EVER will.
The huge problem CA created in order to stomp the modding community is that they locked the functionality of modifying the campaign map, edit certain scripts and mechanics etc, that means modders are severely limited on the ways they can change ingame assets and campaign map, that's why we didn't receive any global overhaul modifications for the total war series since Medieval 2

I came from Warhammer 2 and they broke things that were never broken. For example, in WH 2 Tier 5 Building would give you 2 heroes. It would reward you for growing to the max tier and paying the hefty price, so you can have 2 more spellcasters for example. In WH3, it's all one... It's strange to explain if you haven't played. Nakai, a big crocodile man, can't recruit crocodile men (his main unit), and the achivements are broken. You don't get anything for winning Immortal Empires. How did they make multiple DLC before fixing easy bugs? They are already fixed in mods.

So, resident twitter freak forces them to make an awful game with an awful premise, awful characters and quite possibly awful gameplay (to be decided, but it could have the best FPS gameplay in history and it is guaranteed to flop due to the other reasons) and by the time they realized it was garbage, they had already pumped too much money into it so to recoup their losses they jack up the price of a completely unrelated project's DLC.

Actual costs have no real impact on the price, companies set the price by industry standards or as high as customers are willing to pay.
It's like people are willing to pay 1.20 for a croissant, but the factory making them cut costs in the last decade to less than 0.20 per croissant.
Now the media tells people everything is getting more expensive, so the industry uses this to increase prices even more while ignoring actual costs.
There's a reason why companies payed out the highest amount of dividends in history last year and it's not increasing cost, but that the customer gets deceived on every level by companies and their media lapdogs.

If I was in charge I would of never approved the development of a hero shooter, the genre is oversaturated with Fortnite and Overwatch as well as Riot Game's entry. To top it off not only oversaturated but now in decline from the interest of gamers. I'd also lay off half the staff, you do not need to employ 800 people to make games, 400 is enough.

My first burn with CA was when they released Napoleon, which I felt was a spit in the face. I loved Empire for many reasons and despite it's faults, it was missing some of the key features from the previous TW's such as battle map campaign map connection | a substitude for recruitment population economy replenishemnt connection | and it had one of the worst AIs both in battles and in campaign... but it had the first and best technology iteration CA created (with technologies actually change how units function = driling fire lines) | The first & Best naval combat (was released when Pirates of the Caribbean was still a thing and oh boy this timing was perfect!) | And it had proper politics in game ! with changing ministers and ruling types ! and then shortly after Empire's release instead of keep working on it, fixing it countless issues and problems, improving its lack luster AI CA just decided to release a 'new sub game' for almost full price. I was pissed ... because the global theatre I enjoyed so much, the importance of navies and sea control all were not relevant in Napoleon as much as they were in Empire, but CA forced me to chose for either the mechanics or AI on a product that was basically the same.
This burn made me skip Shogun 2, the first CA product I said to myself no way I am buying it ... but then Rome 2 was on the horizon and I wanted to get excited for it ... hack initially I didn't but there was a sale and I got tempted and oh boy I was for a treat... Population ? sandbox gameplay ? stories that write themsevles with mechanics such as traits and families trees to help tie it together ? nope nope nope... and then massive bugs, shitty AI and much more ... and the worst part, about a year later CA releases Attila same fucking nasty trick they pulled with Empire, while on the way they kept throwing lies or letting the fanboys lie for them with statements such as 'we couldn't make family trees' floating around.
I only got into Warhammer because I got the games for free (all of them), and don't me wrong I kinda understand why people kept optimisim around TW, because not all was bad with all products. Some of the designs in each game were good or even really good - the problem is how long it took CA to reach those designs and the fact that they slice them and dice them and sell them as small bits for each game in order to lure different players. Shogun 2 had naval bombardment (I don't like the way it was working but it is a good idea), Rome 2 had combined warfare (naval and land battles), Attila had siege escalation (makes sense that over the years of siege there will be back and forth from the artillary you have in your army without the need to manually attack each turn), Warhammer introduced spells and single entities, and 3K had the best TW diplomacy to date (by far - the only game that vassals are worth it, with annexation options and consequences for those actions)....
The sad thing is because of this CA manages to keep people around and those that they burn they just replace ... Warhammer fanboys only now feel what was it like for the fans before them and they feel like they will make a change 'oh how improtant they are' the moment CA will release 40K they will have enough people to sell to that they will forget all of them. And that is the honest sad truth, if those fanboys didn't buy every DLC and every game, had back bone and actually pushed back when CA released 'GaMe 3' (a full priced expansion pack) and told CA to shove their 'Siege Rework' up their *** and demanded a proper rework before buying anything they would have a chance... now its to late, CA already squeezed WH dry and ready to move on.
Hack CA is so shameless they use the 'siege rework' people begged for as one of the main selling points for Pharaoh (joining casually on the joke of ASS LADDERS) a siege experience that has nothing innovative about it and just brings it back to the golden standard of previous older titles from almost 20 years ago ...
I don't know if the cycle will be broken, but I doubt it will despite my hopes it will for so many years, my estimates CA sales are hurting both with Pharaoh and with the latest DLC but not that bad to make them not profitable (Pharaoh is so cheap to make that I am pretty sure it will be a success even if just a fraction of costumers will buy it), hack the worst part is that the next real main title that CA is still hiding up their sleeve I am pretty sure will be a success because it will do the same trick of pushing a bit foward and regain new player base while pleasing some of the easily guillible crowd back into CA's lap.

I think CA is in a shitty position right now as they HAVE regress content wise and the fan that followed the game series after series are starting to realize that and if currently it doesn't show because they are doing a crazy fantasy setting where you could overload the game with one dimensional mechanics and variety and satisfy the "casualer" audience. So yeah they are milking this one even harder than the other but imo it's because they have no exit in sight !
I am a lifelong fan of TW and STILL play even pre remastered rome (like why the F would i pay full price for a retexture ?) ect but Warhammer is the last TW game i will ever pay.
They aren't launching a historical TW because they know that they don't have the skill to do it (they admited themselves)

As for the state of CA, they are fine, they are making bank hack if hyaens fail they will just shrink that side of the operations just like they expanded it in recent years. CA rides on the 'short term memory' of the playerbase, those that have long term memory or have desire for quality (by quality I mean more than "Please CA just add 3 more unit skins and animations" to make it 'worth it) don't matter when you just get new crowd with each title that are hyped and happy to develop faith in the company entering the cycle blindly as they have no clue to previous contreversies or old standards.
And so far its been working for CA, and I think it will keep working for them, WH40K is much larger and much more guillible (easy to squeeze money from) than the WH fanbase, do you think for a second those 40K fans when they will get a whole cool new game from TW with shiny lights armours and explosions have a moments of thought about checking or caring for the issues of people who were before them ? WH fans already taught the older crowd this isn't gonna be the case.
I remembering trying to explain to WH fans the importance of longer sieges on the campaign map, how ass ladders and easily breakable gates made the equipment useless and in turn made longer sieges useless. Do you think the majority of them cared or listened ? hack even now many of them are willing to forgive CA for just a few more shiny animations and a generic lord type, they don't care that many people left WH because the sieges are crap, they don't even dare to dream that CA can easily still fix the sieges and make them good.
Saddest part is that CA doesn't care at all, they will give better, they will give better sieges easy, even on products that had already been released - only if they will see clearly that this is their only way to make money - which is in the hands of the consumers to show CA is the case, but those WH fan boys aren't gonna do it till its to late. Maybe in a few years you will see the same people who I had to fight even now, even today, on the concept that its ok to demand proper AI with mechanics and proper sieges... maybe in a few years those people will realize that their favorite game was left in the dust and that its borken and they no longer have a way to make CA come back and fix it.

The problem is the total war series has no competitors and these games are fairly niche so there is nowhere else for people to get grand scale, real-time battles of this quality with a strategy layer on top.

Chaos Dwarves were really awesome DLC, but their current behavior dropped a giant turd that crushed my last little spark of hope that this comany wants to do stuff better.
