Certain kinds are Penny. Definitely check to see Joe jig they get before purchasing. Sulphur cosmos especially are pretty short and there’s a few others that stay pretty compact as well. For seeding in containers, I would just scatter them to get them started and thin out from there to fit.

Please help! I have sown three rounds of cosmos. Each time I sewed the seeds, I used three packets each with 25 seeds. I thought I had done everything right. I used moist Epsoma seed starting mix, then covered seeds with horticultural vermiculite and a colorless plastic Dome until I saw the first seeds germinate. I got a very low germination rate. Those that did germinate were carefully pricked out and transplanted into a bleach cleaned, water rinsed 4 inch round plastic pot filled with an ericaceous peat free potting mix. Between one and three days later the seedlings flopped over and die. Since I live in zone nine I don’t need any grow lights or extra heating source. My seeds get started in a shady portion of my cover driveway. After transplanting, they got moved a little closer to the edge of the driveway so that they don’t strain too much to get sunlight. I Purchased my seeds from a very reputable seed company that I have used for many years. I just don’t seem to have any success with cosmos OK. The varieties available in my area are not the varieties I want in my garden. Please send some advice.
Cosmos are my absolute favorite flowers! I cannot figure out how to keep them standing when they are 4 to5 ft tall and thick, heavy center stems. They just get beat down. 😭
I just love your videos. I have a question how you keep the deer away from your cosmos?. I'm in Virginia and the deer just love my cosmos more then me because they eat it 😅
They don't seem to bother our cosmos. There's too many other things that they want to eat. We use a 3D deer fence when we do want to protect something. I'll do a video about it soon.

We’ve not yet grown waxflower on the farm, but we love it as filler and the fragrance is wonderful!

They don’t take a ton of heat well. Growing them when heat is less intense is better b
