The Pinkfoot Goliath is the less kept of the BIG three Theraphosa, these stunning New World Bird Eaters from Venezuela have a lovely pink hue to them and are very hairy compared to the other two making them quit distinctive , kept correctly they make good display spiders .

Dare I say, this genus has a... hair trigger?
I will not apologize for that pun.
Any rate, I've found my Apophysis actually uses the moss to landscape her den. She's entirely ignored the cork bark and instead created a sort of dome made of moss and webbing that she hides under. Stirmi, on the other hand, has a large cork log that she hasn't even webbed in. She just sits inside like a grumpy old man waiting for crickets to step on her lawn. They are a wonderful genus for those willing to take the time to get the environment right.

@ 21:00 when she turn around and nibbled on the paintbrush I thought that was really cool like you said it wasn't aggressive technique it was just her responding like food.. so awesome!!! But I noticed when Camera lady zoomed in that it looked like the spider really only has one eye!??? But other than that
Dave this is why I love your show, you educate everyone on how to take care and love your insect or spider centipede whatever the situation is to treat them with respect and love and you'll get it back awesome awesome show thank you buddy...

Don't see these as often as the other two, they really have a very different coloration to them. And I'm pleased to see that it reacted with a food response rather than kicking hairs all over her enclosure. That plastic bin, while not ideal for viewing, will provide the climate it needs. Looking forward to seeing these reach their adult sizes.

Hi Dave and Camera Lady 💙💕hope you’re both doing well today.
I love to see the giant bird eaters spiders 🕷 Like the Blondes and pink foot tarantulas. I know bigger isn’t always better 😉 But I seem to have a soft spot for them. I’d run a mile if someone were to sneak up on me with one 😂 😂 But I mentioned to Jaden last night in a comment, that there’s been a rather large house spider in my shower room this past two weeks and I’m proud to say that I haven’t asked my partner to remove it 🤦‍♀️ 😂 All because of You, Bethany and Jaden, I’ve got respect for them now 💙💕💚

Such a big beautiful tarantula and lightning fast too when she wants to be! Interesting video dear Dave and Sweet Camera Lady! Many spiders and tarantulas are very fast runners so you should not be fooled by there size or sometimes or most normal docile behavior. They are much faster than you think...but not in a negative sort of way but if you handle them you need to be very aware of it! Have a wonderful week, take care you both! Hello Dave and Camera Lady.
I was anxiously awaiting the Sunday video and once again was not disappointed. That lovely spider has more personality than some dogs I know! It was funny when she was gnawing on your paint brush. I really love the deeper color of this one compared to the Blonde and the Stermi. She is rich looking and has such cute pink feet. What is not to love about that? I am wondering how long these lovely girls live and when will you be adding the males with an eye to breeding? I really enjoy anything you do with the big ones. Okay, another bang up job to start the week! Now I can sleep happy. I hope y’all have a great week. Take care and stay safe. Thanks for all you do.

    • @calliew311
      @calliew311 Před rokem

His rehousing advice is so good. The best piece of advice I've gotten is to keep contact with the spiders leg or whatever you are touching so it doesn't freak out. Also, being calm does help, a lot. Good luck with your Ts. I started with 1, then 3, then 8, (then lost a sling after a molt), then just got 3 more, so I'm at 10 and am stopping for a while. I would've stopped at 8, but my loss really bothered me. I went to Reddit and their discord and they said what I did was right and my enclosures were fine, so, I think it was a molt prob since it passed 36 hours after a molt. Anyway, good luck and have fun!

A year ago,if you had caught me in the cookware or container isle at the store, most likely I had broken something for cooking or whatever.
Now, it's like I'm automatically drawn to those isles looking for nice containers for spiders in their growing process.
Having a heavy background in tool and die making for 3/4 of my life.iam with you with the vent holes being in line and everything symmetrical. I like my spiders enclosures to look nice all the way around. I love them so insides stay clean as possible and I really take my time to provide them with a nice a looking home as I can.
And along with advice from you they thrive and get on quite well. Anything that goes or has went wrong was all because of my inexperience with a few of them, but not lost one yet,not even some of our most tiny slings.

Me too! I love the look of that tiny T. They are incredibly fragile and die all the time, as slings. I'm too afraid to get one because the slings are like 200 bucks and I am afraid it won't make it. I have an Idiothele mira, and it has a trap door and blue feet. It's a small T, that pops up out of the trapdoor in the ground, and grabs prey and sinks right back into the trap door. It's so cool! Her name is Arya, and I love her so much, I think the common name is Blue Footed Baboon.

Oh how LOVELY! You always make everything look so easy, it’s wonderful. I think that helps some of us in our confidence with our own spiders. Thanks y’all, as always, for such great information and wonderful video 🤍

Great video as always, bit misleading though I have to say as you said it's known as the burgundy goliath, always thought that was the stirmi.

Common names are used for many species and often overlap in the pet trade , this is why it’s best to use the Latin names 👍

@@daveslittlebeasties Wasn't doubting you mate, just never heard it called burgundy, always good to find these things out, so thanks for that. I rarely use common names if I can help it.

Really interesting video. I had no idea you shouldn't moisten the substrate.
