- Otis may have been knocked out early this year in FBW voting, but he has the title nobody can ever take! The King! I'm confident he will be back in 2024 and ready to claim his 5th FBW Title! After arriving far later then other Bears for 2023 and shockingly thin, Otis did what Otis does, perservere! He calmly went to his office on the first day and began catching salmon. He continued to do so and even after his walkabout you could tell he had success away from Brooks as well! His transformation from arrival to now has been uplifting and remarkable! He has been, is now, and will continue to be The King! Forever! You are an inspiration Otis! 🥰💗🐻👑

Otis is the true King of Katmai! I know there are lots of younger fatter bears but there is no other bear who came back so skinny with so few teeth and plumped up like him. He is my everlasting favorite bear and I hope that we will see him next summer. Sweet Dreams Otis, Forever king of Katmai❤❤❤

Thank you Geo, I think for a lot of people Otis is the first Bear we fell in love with or at the least were able to identify with. He is a remarkable creature and it's a privilege to get to know him the way we have. I get up early and go to work in an Office almost everyday and I looked forward to seeing him there in the IR light of the Cam working like I was. This has been a wonderful season to be a part of and even if 480 didn't win FBW, for many of us, he's our Bear Hero, the working man ! Thanks for a Great tribute Video, great song choice ! I am not willing to address the Elephant , Otis will decide if he shows up next year, I'd like to think he has a few more in him 🐻

Otis is what got me started on not only the Bears but nature cams in general! He'll always be my favorite and the King! I owe him a great deal for the peace he's given me by introducing me to all of the Bears. He came a long way this year, I have very little doubt or reason to believe he won't be back in 2024, doing his thing, and probably in the bracket yet again! 🙂❤👑
I saw pics of him in 2001 or 2 before he was identified as 480 Otis. I had dial up internet.

I saw Otis last summer, in 2022. He definitely stands out, he shows his prestige, and like the King he is, all of the other bears knew to leave him alone. He owns those falls.

151 tried to push him out of the office a 2nd time and Otis didn't budge. 151 looked rejected. Even the first time, Otis promptly scooped a fish out with his paw and went to eat. Walker was like "How does he do that?
The anticipation of the Kings stroll upriver to his office this year is brutal.

Oof the tears are real. I love this bear!
I started watching the Bear-a-palooza during Covid when the salmon were jumping, amazed by the bears catching in their mouths. Checked in every year since, but this was the first season I got to know the individual bears & their stories. All because of that video of sweet Otis preparing his bed to take a nap by grabbing some soft greenery for padding. I fell in love with him instantly! His demeanor is truly remarkable and reminiscent of royalty. Otis is the King! 🐻👑 I think the other bears know it too, deep down…

People at work probably thought I was crazy talking about Otis the bear, but I didn’t care.😊 He seems like such a sweet tolerant boi. Every single time I watch this video I cry so much. I fell in love instantly with Otis the first time I saw Katmai cams. What is it about this incredible bear that touches so many people, I don't know, and it doesn't really matter. It's just bitter sweet to watch. ❤

8/11/2024 - I miss not seeing King Otis. Hopefully he found a huge food patch and will return to Katmai next year. If the King should not return in the future, I hope he is having his best bear life. He stole my heart.
