I’ve always loved the lyric “I’m shaking like milk” it’s so silly and cute yet also genius
what does it MEAN
@@prankstertwins shaking like milk -> shaking milk -> shake milk -> milkshake
It’s a play on the word “milkshake”
omggg it’s so obvious now that you say it
@@4r4chn1da33 alright but is this a metaphore? and for what?
@@lukasmuller8125 it means he is shaking like crazy
This is pop but still goth. This is happy but seems like he’s so depressed inside. THATS WHY I LOVE THE CURE
You summed it up perfectly. One of the many reasons I adore The Cure.
My lovely band!!!!!! The cure forever!!!!!!!! The best!!!!!!!
@@Missjunebugfreak Happysad
The reasons I love the Cure are the same and also different. Their music is fantastic, Robert Smiths voice also. The best ‘thing’ about them is that they are the only band that has it all. It can be depressive, deep, funny, pleasant, (make you) happy, etc. The Cure has all emotions, good, pleasant, bad in them. That makes them the best.
this is actually dark wave
I'm kinda new to The Cure's music...
But every song I've listened to hasn't failed to amaze me.
They're so... awesome.
oh wow. you still listening ?

@@JessieAllOverx Wow after 10 years too. Amazing!

“I’m shaking like milk” never fails to make me laugh. I love you Robert Smith :)
People don't make videos like this anymore unfortunately. I just love the mind behind it. Very cool song :)

People don't make videos anymore period.
Anybody else has a crush on Robert Smith as well? There's just something about him, (not just his handsome face,) about his quirky way that makes me have a soft spot for him
Gaya K ...Hi, I'm 56 and still think Robert Smith is Totally Hot 💜💜💜💜
YES UGH
Total legand 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
He looks like a freak Ben Affleck.Hot.
Do you mean the fact he smashes eggs just for a video

Let me take your hands
I'm shaking like milk
Turning
Turning blue
All over the windows and the floors
Fires outside in the sky
Look as perfect as cats
The two of us
Together again
But it's just the same
A stupid game

1:18 [Verse 2]
You think you're tired now
But wait until three
Laughing at the Christmas lights
You remember from December
All of this then back again
Another girl
Another name
Stay alive but stay the same
It's a a stupid game

But I don't care if you don't
And I don't feel if you don't
And I don't want it if you don't
And I won't play it
If you won't play it first
Doo doo doo doo
Doo doo doo doo
Doo doo doo doo
Doo doo doo
2:18 [Verse 3]
You can't even see now
So you ask me the way
You wonder if it's real
Because it couldn't be rain
Through the right doorway
And into the white room
It used to be the dust that would lay here
When I came here alone
2:48 [Chorus]
But I don't care if you don't
And I don't feel if you don't
And I don't want it if you don't
And I won't say it
If you won't say it first
Doo doo doo doo
Doo doo doo doo
Doo doo doo doo

3:07 [Outro]
Let's go to bed
Let's go to bed
Let's go to bed
The Cure is one of the greatest bands in the history of music. They are exquisitely unique and frankly unrepeatable. Though Robert Smith and company have influenced scores of bands that have followed they have created music that is so intensely magical and so deliciously soul invigorating it’s almost impossible to try and define it I’m sure that my story with this band is no different than your own. They were one of the musical institutions that saved me in the youthful coming of age period of deep confusion and overpowering despair that is high school. Robert Smith is one of the most gifted poets and singers of any era going back centuries. Professor of rock - 2020.
Shut up
I absolutely agree with you.. Thanks God to have a singer like him!
I'm looking forward to seeing them on stage in Milan next year
Professor Adam brought me here. :)
calm down
As a teenager, I’m so thankful my friends had good music taste to show me this beautiful band. They never miss
This is shit dude I feel bad for you
Robert looks really good here. Love this song.
This is the first time he went public with that iconic look - the messy big black hair, make-up, etc.
he was slim
@@vpgnto 😐
I fucking love the cure. I’m old now. They were my favorite band in high school, and in many ways I like them more now. Effortlessly brilliant.
Agreed
I was in high school in the late 80s and wish I could have found my tribe back then that also liked this type of music
The change of the chords for the third chorus is absolutely genius.
My mom: you should stop watching/listening to those weird af goth stuff
Also my mom some decades ago:
This is not weird
@@lemsolaris67 it is but thats a very good thing
In this period, gothic was Just his looks
@@sydglover4842 its a crappy pop. Nothing weird here
Older people always have some prejudice with things that are too different from them, tbh in my mom's times they didn't even have access to see the faces of the singers, she only knows the songs
So in love with the "Lol's dance"!!!!
He s got the moves :D
The thing I love the most about Robert is how much he loves his Mary.
Charismatic, iconic, talented, genius, great songwriter, great musicisn, great presence, graet voice, etc... but the thing you most love of him is his love for the wife. Ok.
Let me take your hand

Robert Smith is a good musician and a good person.
Morrissey is a good musician.
Cambs TV morrissey is a good lyricist*
he can’t play any instruments lol

Je suis française et si mon niveau d'anglais s'est amélioré c'est grâce à the cure.
Ce genre de chansons sont si addictives.
Pareil pour moi incroyable texte et mélodies entraînantes
This bassline is funky!
Hello, How are you doing? It’s nice seeing you here
Robert’s a killer on the bass.
Just hearing this song for the first time. When he says "I don't care if..." I keep thinking he's gonna say "Monday's blue, Tuesday's gray..." lol
Great music is absolutely timeless and ageless. We loved them in the 80s and loved this song. We enjoyed it in our cars, enjoyed it at parties and the frequently visited new wave clubs, places where we could be ourselves, enjoy the music as we called "ours" and met others who had the same passion. Almost 40 years later, I just turned 57 and still love this music and enjoy it just as much. Great music never goes out of style.
It really is amazing I'm only 16 and just now getting into so much older music and its honestly millions of times better than most music today.
@@0ffline... so glad you appreciate this music. Couldn’t agree with you more. My kids enjoy this music because it is great and timeless. 👍
Soot-On! Just saw the Cure at Fiddler's Green in Denver last night -Epic! Sold out standing room only. Many fifty-somethings (like us) jamming right along with the twenty &thirty-somethings. What kindness from the packed house & stellar performance by the band.

This is timeless.
The early Cure was awesome.
The late one also is in my opinion
Damn 13 years ago? You still listen to the cure?
I have this songs poster in my room and my friends always find it really weird and I'm just like, "I swear it's a song, I swear"
that’s perfect for a bedroom tho whatt
Haha lol I guess it does look like he's telling you to go to bed in a different way

I luv he's eyebrows for same reason
It's the year 2021 and i still love it. I'm a fan since i'm 6 years old. Now i am 31 years old and it still has a magical feeling to listen to these good old songs.
yes iam 55 and i still cant get enough of this stuff so great
I'm fan since 4 y I'm 31 now too
i been listening since 1, I’m 12 🥰 x
Love this era of The Cure. Just Rob and Lol doin' their thing.
Words cannot express how happy I am rn. I'VE FOUND MY BAND!! I'M A BABY BAT NOW!!!💖🖤🦇
Man oh man, we used to tear that tiny dance floor up at this dinky place called Raw Power, some time in the early 80s. This was a particular favorite of mine.. I always thought Robert's voice was among the top of the whiners from that New Romance music era.. really nice sounding to my ears. Those were terribly wild times ;)
+Julie Swahn I'm so jealous of you!! Sounds like you were having a great time...I wish they played this music more nowadays!
this was a pleasure to read, not to be pretencious but wish I had lived through that
Hello, How are you doing? It’s nice seeing you here
"Let me take your hands, I'm shaking like milk," is a chat-up line that never works for me.
Lol's awkward dancing at the beginning makes my life.
real
Reminds me of my childhood, my parents used to play this all the time. Oh man, nostalgia !
same here! That's actually why I'm here. my mother always listened to em when I was a child
I'd hear mainly Phil Collins and Robert Palmer in our households in the 80s
Reminds of my kids. They used to listen to this. 25 years, they still listen...
Cool parents 🙂
I always find it funny when people obviously younger than me talk about their "childhood". When I was a kid my parents played things like the Fiddler on the Roof and Jesus Christ Superstar soundtracks. My dad would sometimes play Beatles songs on the piano.
People can complain all they want, I'm so happy that me and many other younger people are enjoying older music because it would be sad if the new generation didn't listen to it because as time and people pass it would eventually fade away into obscurity and never really get talked about again which is sad to think about.
Lawrence Tolhurst not only dances well but he also paints a beautiful blue canvas with a brush. What a talent :) He was such a fantastic drummer on the previous four Cure Lps, and now he played keyboards. Robert Smith is so brilliant in this video, all aboard for fun time. it must be one of the coolest pop videos ever made
Actually, Lol started playing keyboard because he was not good with drums.
@@faruk7able In fact he couldn't play the beat to this very song, so they got a session musician to play it (Steve Goulding).
i think he was dancing to tease Roland Orzabal in Mad World

Captures the early 80's era to perfection. It will always be one of my favourite songs.
This is a 1st wave gem!! Has that feel to it!!!
I know Robert Smith hates this song but honestly it’s one of my favorites. It’s unique and corky and different that a lot of other music of the time. I love the music it’s self it’s catchy and you could dance to it hardcore no joke. 😊
Esta no es una canción, esto es un HIMNO!!!
Viva the cure
pero ms vale loco la putas madre
Less than six months prior to this songs release, they released The Hanging Garden. That's quite the musical shift.
I can't believe myself that I discovered this song right now.. The Cure is just unbelievable. I love how Robert acted in this video :))
I never found The Cure a depressive band like many have.
I always felt they were fun..happy..and dance music. I was 16 when "Just like heaven" came out in 1987.
I still love them amongst many other musicians & bands across the eras of music.
Listen to the album Pornography. It's bleak utterly nihilistic. Their goth rep is largely based on that and one or two other albums
Faith is another album I've used as a way to exorcise my depression.
"Rape me like a child
Christened in blood
Painted like an unknown saint
There’s nothing left but hope…"
Those 4 hours in Mexico City, 54 songs. I love The Cure with all my heart & soul.
Uno no sabe para qué ha nacido hasta que no se está en su concierto bailando y cantando esto completamente feliz.

This song was originally released in 1982 as a single and it was later included in the album Japanese Whispers!
In the 2nd and 3rd chorus Robert Smith sings "play" instead of "say" like in the 1st one!
This song is post their very dark Pornography album at a time when The Cure was just a duo!
One of the best surreal songs ever written.
they make a very happy song after all depresive pornography album
And this song saved The Cure
That's because you have not heard the melacholy track "Lament" from this same album.
You wouldn't think they were the same band
Pornography is an amazing album I get what you mean but at the time it was out it was a breath of fresh air, you may not like the new one apparently 🙂
Where was there to go after the final track "pornography?"
Crazy happy for what often times can be seen as a depressing band
Lol has the best dance moves ever oh my god
You should see Roland Orzabal dance in Mad World.
real
hes literally so me
The beginning of the happy phase! After Gallup's departure in 1982 and permanent members being down to a duo (Smith & Tolhurst), this was the first single following the Dark Trilogy (the 2nd, 3rd and 4th albums by the band). Notice Tolhurst dancing hysterically from the opening scene! :)))))))))))))
All rise for the national anthem
