Modern electronic engine vehicle controls can calculate the right amount of fuel to be used in a given situation. Many sensors and actuators come into play. These sensors and actuators include mass air-fuel (MAF), fuel injectors, and fuel injectors. As with all car parts, they can wear down over time. You may have performance problems with your vehicle due to a bad mass flow sensor.
WHAT IS MASS an AIR FLOW SENSOR?
A car mass airflow sensor is a device that measures how much air is entering the engine intake. It is crucial to measure the air mass to calculate how much fuel you should add to reach the desired air-fuel ratio (AFR). Although the ideal AFR would be 14.7:1 (14.7 pounds of fuel to 1.0 pounds of air), real-world AFRs can vary. A higher AFR may be required for acceleration, such as 12:1, while for cruising, a lower AFR might be necessary, sometimes as low as 22:1. A bad MAF sensor can cause the engine control module (ECM), not to correctly calculate fuel injection. This could lead to bigger problems with your vehicle.

When I unplug my mass air flow sensor there is no change to how my truck runs when I plug it back in it dies I keep getting a p0147 lean bank two already changed all plugs and coils new O2 sensor on bank two upstream cleaned mass air flow sensor truck is a 2004 f150 5.4 3 valve
So..2009 mini cooper n12 engine..I wanna change the air cleaner setup. I have a MAF sensor and was told I can ONLY use a "Typhoon" air cleaner system (only aftermarket one available specifically for my car), I cannot use an 'aftermarket' cheaper version because of the sensor. So I can't do anything else like bypassing the MAF forever?

The MAF Bypass part of this video is absolute nonsense. You cannot just unplug the MAF, while the car battery is disconnected, the reconnect the battery - you'll get a check engine light within 10 miles. The car's ECU *knows* the NAF is unplugged!!! It can be bypassed properly, but this low quality robot-voice video has no idea how to do it properly.
