    Another one that got away... a fish puzzle that simulates perpetual motion! However a friend of Tim's made a version of the toy for him.
    Spiraculum is a magnet toy, made by Joachim Vallet in Germany back in the 1980s.
    A door handle that is actually in the shape of a hand...
    Tim does not normally collect teapots - there are just too many! Although he does collect teapots that have an unusual function. There is a teapot that he saw at the Frankfurt Gift Fair that he wishes he had bought, which combines a teapot and a lemon squeezer!
    Finally, a 1987 toy that was only marketed for a very short time, and Tim wishes he had bought extra ones! A photoelectric panel drives a sound chip, and you get interesting and unusual effects when you move it around in front of a light source.

    Tim, I love your channel so much! You remind me of my grandfather who used to collected oddities and puzzles quite like yourself. He raised me and taught me all manner of things, from penmanship to advanced physics. He is no longer a verbal man and struggles to communicate with me now. Your videos give me great comfort and make me feel like a young child again. I’m filled with wonderment and excitement every time you post. Wonderful work, Sir! I’m extremely grateful!

    I can't quite put my finger on when or where, but I do feel like this little device at 7:59 is something I had as a child. The music, especially the parts where it becomes distorted as the light is obstructed in various manners, has a very familiar, almost nostalgic effect to me. I'm sure I've had something similar a very VERY long time ago, from the same manufacturer.

      @DanielRenardAnimation Před rokem +6

      @@HerrW0lf On that notion, I think the reason why it was discarded, was because I'd keep my toys in a drawer under my bed and as the battery drained on its own, it bypassed the photoelectric cell and started playing- well at least making noises on its own, which would definitely have gotten annoying to have distorted toy music playing during the night, although, it is my understanding that this is very "popular" in various media these days. 🙄

    The one I built only had one bar and one string, and the string was I waxed dental floss with a counterweight of 1x4 plates.

    Perpetual motion simulation is indeed a fascinating field. My dad (a type of fiend) would occasionally set me to the task of building a P. M. machine, using my Meccano set. Once the reciprocating weight/pendulum engine or whatever had been discounted as incapable, he would announce complacently that my task was impossible. The poor chap was insufficiently well educated to include the corollary to the tale (Entropy, the 2nd law of Thermodynamics).. But I enjoyed humouring him, as fiddling with Meccano is great fun. Speaking of fiddling, and on evidence, and with the greatest possible respect, your violin technique could do with an overhaul, Tim.🎶🌟👍

After a while the pivot in the centre of the wheel lost its magnetism and it wouldn't work anymore. Perhaps the large one that plugs in was to keep the magnetic field from fading and the wheel would always stay on

According to the patent it works by dividing the rail into sections of alternating polarity and having the cables for that inside the tube. It apparently also used alternating current to power the spinner. I didn't have to deep a look at the patent so might have missed something.

    The electric version of the ufo device could have also worked in a much simpler way using the same physics as a railgun. Pushing current through the device with little to no resistance would force it away from the power source and cause a magnetic field to pass through the wheel that could put spin into it if designed properly. This could be done with a very simple design for the spinning wheel and no extra motors needed.
