It’s worth mentioning, that when the valves are in the “rocking” position, i.e. both valves are open, the engine is 360 degrees from TDC on the compression stroke. So when valve rock occurs turning the engine exactly one revolution will put the piston where you you want it for valve adjustment.

I need to do my first valve adjustment on my V7 and it has been 2o years since I last did valve adjustment on my Le Mans.Your video was a great refresher on how to do this. Thanks so much for posting.

Thanks much! Just bought a Moto Guzzi V7 Racer and was very confused on how to adjust valves. Will give it a go soon!

Thank you! I have an 850T3 and I needed this video, especially the focus on finding TDC.

Thanks, so much easier with the jugs in your face and without buckets.and shims. I'm looking to buy another bike and have been looking at Triumph and MG, but I think I'll be getting the V7. I used to have a 1971 Laverda 750SF, and I had to sell it. I've always wanted another Italian bike and a MG would be a nice bike for me at my age(67).

Awesome video helped so much. Mine was really tight. Also getting to top dead center I used a marker to calibrate a straw so I could actually see the movement of the piston. Also I did't need to place my finger on the plug hole to feel air pressure i just put my face close to the hole and a gush of air hit me. Thanks alot for this video

Unless my memory is playing tricks with me, I found TDC on my Guzzis (1979 & 1982) by using the inspection hole on the side of the flywheel. In all the Guzzi videos I've seen online, no one is doing this. I'm trying to figure out why?

HollomanUFOLanding this is the very best option- but that’s my opinion only. There are alternate ways, use what’s best for you. Ride well.

just put a screwdriver down the plug hole and feel the piston go up and down easy.....

Nice, thank you. My problem with this is that it still is a bit Latin for the absolute beginner. I mean, on what basis did you make the markings on that piece of metal/ your "straw"? I must have missed that bit when all the info turned into white noise. I shall watch this video another 150 times.

Tyvm, much appreciated. I've just arrived with my Guzzi on the trailer, have to ask a neighbour to give me a hand with getting her off it and into the designated restoration area (i.e. my porch). Also, I need COFFEE to get my eyes open.

Sorry, but only a peasant uses an adjustable wrench on a bike like that! That is one tool I will not allow in my garage. Invest in some proper tools and avoid that rounded off nut look.
