The peaceful tranquility of a small Western town is disturbed when a murderous car wreaks havoc by viciously mowing down innocent victims. The new sheriff, Wade Parent (James Brolin, The Amityville Horror), may be the only one who can stop this menace in its tracks. But what Wade Parent doesn't realize is that the driver of this indestructible vehicle is far more dangerous than any man... because it is driven by pure evil.

How do you stop The Car???? California Emission Testing and Gas Prices.....
The one movie that truly proves that Rotten Tomatoes (and critics in general) usually don't have a clue what they're talking about. Great movie.
This movie TERRIFIED me back in the day. I used to get off the school bus and it was 1/4 of a mile through the woods to our house. I would literally book it in a full out sprint after seeing this movie. On the plus side, because of this movie it helped me become one of the fastest sprinters in Maine back in the mid-late 1980's
I absolutely love this movie. The best of the evil car movies, hands down! The only other one that was as good was John Carpenter's Christine.
Take a shot everytime you hear that car horn.
Saw this at a drive in in the 70s when I was a kid. Scared the crap out of me. Thanks, mom.
the creepiest part when it was in the house
Ah, the 70s... when touching a car would make it burst into flames.
My uncle took me (and my brother) to see this when I was 7 years old. It was scary. In my mind, I imagined the Devil was at the wheel. My first horror movie.
Wow that's herbie's evil cousin
That horn is so bad ass! This is definitely another one of the better classic horror films out there IMO.
The most eerie part for me was when the car emerged from the trees during the dark. Classic scares.
Been watching this ever since I was a kid. My Grandmother introduced me to this movie. For 13 years up until the day she died she would call me to remind me it was coming on.
I love the part where the car goes sideways and flips over the police cars. Such a cool-ass stunt.
“Still 1 of my favorite movies as seen in my teens on VHS.... which I still have the original tape...A classic period!!” Beyond any bad reviews that you may come across...” Christine couldn’t hold a candle to The Car PERIOD..” but above all else All else The Car’s horn...that is the takeaway that stays with me since my first watch......” Berrrrrrrrr Baberrrrrrr BaBerrrrrrrrrrrr!!” Will never forget that horn...and I’m 52 now and can recall the way it resonated the first time I watched the movie when The Car literally just appeared in the opening out of nowhere leaving a dust trail and introduced The Devils Ride by its ominous appearance and that nerve
Love this flick! Saw it when I was a little kid (still can't believe Grandma let me stay up late to watch it on TV) and it scared the hell out of me. I couldn't sleep that night, let me tell you. Gotta comment on this trailer, though, because it's one of those that shows every single good moment from the film. After you see the trailer, the movie will hold no surprises for you.
I remember watching this as a kid, scared the crap out of me.
I love the Horn !
1971 Lincoln continental mark 3 with curved finder classic with a badass horn
A classic movie and a great movie really! The concept of it, the look of the car, that horn, great scenes good acting. It's got it all and before CHRISTINE.
