Love, love, love Kathy Burke!
Can't name how many times I've had the experience of saying something, being ignored, then a man says it and the room erupts in praise.
me to. also just listening to the wonderful liza tarbuck say anything makes me happy though so the flame burns on....
I loved listening to Liza Tarbuck here.
i love Dawn's term "a big snoggy relationship"
Thanks loads!
Thank you!
I LOVE THIS!
My thoughts exactly :-D. She is awesome.
9.28 - 9.44 is exactly what has happened to me. I was writing a play with a group of people, I said an idea, everyone dismissed it, a man said the exact same idea and everyone said 'yeah, lets do that' and it continued like that for the rest of the writing process. It kind of became an inside joke but it wasn't to begin with. Sad times.
wow, that was actually really interesting...
I Love You Joan Rivers x
most men can't handle women that are smarter than them. The men start to wonder if the women can see through their bullshit so they get intimidated and run away. It's too bad because ultimately i think the best partner is one who can challenge you, but a lot of men are just looking for someone they can control.
thanks! i had no idea!
Sandra Bernhard sure has a high opinion of herself, doesn't she?
LMAO - Margaret Cho is well funny!!! Masterpiece!!!
I've recently spent time with a group of friends in relaxed house parties. We start with food and talk and end up playing video games. Slowly we've moved from cooperative games to competitive, and I've watched with horror as a lovely young guy we know turns from a funny and supportive friend to an inconsolable misogynist. He can't stand being beaten by a girl. Period. No matter that the girls are marathon gamers, he cannot stand it. 1000 excuses pour from him, and blame is everywhere. So sad.
maria bamford did a skit thats kind of about this called "what people want"
it's so funny
everyone should watch it
As a man I find it baffling when women feel this need to hide their excellence (humor or otherwise) around men. The only men that will win you are the insecure ones. If you're as smart and funny etc. as you can be, you draw a better sort of guy. So why do so many hide like that? I really just don't get it.
Yes it is true, women love a bloke with a GOOD sense of humor. It all depends on the woman.
@xarcherx987 Feminism is about women telling their life experiences. What exactly would you have preferred? An episode where they spent the entire thing silently baking pies?
Women comedians can share the common experience of being on a bill and being the one "woman comic" on a line-up of 10 guys.
2.25 is an exact mix of richard e grant and tracy emin
So sorry for the double post.
This editor (*or multiple?) is brilliant. Hope they're doing well!!
@ComaRadio It's from the series 'I love Lucy'.
From which black and white film is that clip at the end, where the woman throws pizza dough on her face?
Fantastic so funny I think it must be I love Lucy. I want to see the whole thing please someone
Who is the person at 2:23?
@PeacockDreams19 now that you mention it, i think that happens a lot when we try to look at women's experience
who is that at 8:12 ?
There ARE tons of funny women out there. Her name is Dawn French.
Eric Morcambe, as in Morcambe and Wise
OH MY GOODNESS!
What is that from at 8.10 ??? Someone tell me know, that is hilarious.
Holly Simons Design My guess is that it's a Lucille Ball movie... not sure, though
id love to have met Ruby Wax when she was my age
@xarcherx987 That is so funny.
Tell me, which one of the featured, famous, rich, internationally renowned comedians are you?
Rent "I'm The One That I Want" and take it form there. She, Kathy Griffin, Kathy & Mo, Lisa Lamponelli and Monique are my fave US female comics.
Sandra Bernhard had a "thing" with Madonna at one point in time. Please correct me if I am wrong. Peace to all.
In the end when she talks about that thing us guys sometimes to do women, making them feel "inaudible".
I usually just do it to women I don't like to piss them off :p
@ttfbxxxxx The trick for girls to get guys is neither to act stupid or to not be funny. The trick is to make the fella feel that he's funny, or smart, or strong.
If you make him feel good about you and bad about himself, he'll only stick around if he's a masochist. If you make him bad about you and good about himself, he'll look for something better. Make him feel both good about you and good about himself, neither at the expense of the other, and he'll stick around.
actually shes on a little sooner, but i loved spaced and whoa!- has she lost weight! i knew i recognized her, but couldn't place it. thanks
@annikee59 Oh, YES, definitely. Story of my life!!
@annikee59
i'm so with you on that
kinda stings
Girl at 5:43; Margaret Cho.
It's odd how much the female show talks so much about men and women they date, specifically about relationships but the men... don't. This series kind of shows that quite drastically.
@WalterLiddy Because we are penalized for it. Many more rules for proper behavior for girls and women.
It goes to show there is absolutely no golden rule in any area of life and the whole thing is a fucking great lottery
Maybe I've been particularly lucky in the social circles I've traveled in, or maybe the women's rights movement has had some effect, because I can keep a room of guys' attention with my humor and not have to let one of them be the funniest or get the biggest joke.
@thescowlingschnauzer why should we be the ones to make men feel good about themselves? it aint our jobs
Ok,I'm coming at this from a gay bloke's aspect but I usually prefer comedy from females. That aside, gender doesn't always enter into the equation with me especially when considering the content/subject matter in comedy. In the same way I turn off when a comic is being particularly obscene whether it's a male or female comic,if a comic is GOOD without having to resort to being offensive or obscene then I'll tune in regardless of gender. So,for me,it doesn't matter the gender.Males & females are
might not have agreed to it
@zammmerjammer You have an internet connection in the kitchen?
You know, unless you actually meet every single female in the entire world, which would be impossible to do, since there are billions of humans, you shouldn't judge. For all you know there are tons of female comedians that are just as good at being "funny like men" but you wouldn't know, because most of them are more comfortable doing routines in small comedy clubs and not in front of the camera.
@lnfreeman it bugs me
...if you think men are "better at being funny", then maybe a video entitled 'girls who do comedy' isn't for you? Boys who do comedy is in the related videos sidebar, much more relevant to your interest.
Re: this segment, I totally agree with Liza Tarbuck where she says she loves men who love women. You can totally sense when a man is secure enough to enjoy the company of women without feeling intimidated, and they are always the funniest guys to be around.
don't negative comment this person
as it turns out, Joan Rivers is a sadly insecure and incredibly honest person...i was shocked
the woman, i mean.
Clicked on this to watch Morwenna Banks (first on the list in the description) but fuck all ...
why is it called girls who do comedy? its all about guys..
'femininny' haha. Maybe it was intentional? If not, it should be.
I don't understand how men feel emasculated by witty women... I think smart, funny girls are the greatest things.
It's not "men". It *some* men. *Some* women can be like that too.
@@th8257 I don't understand how men see people complaining about behavior many men exhibit and assume they're being included in the complaint whether they exhibit that behavior or not. surely if you aren't like the men being complained about, you don't need to feel attacked
Sandra Benhard had a "thing" with Madonna at one point. Please correct me if I am wrong.
Peace to all.
Sarah Bernhard is homossexual? ( i don´t have nothing agains´t it im just asking)
Respond to this video...
This boy thinks being witty makes a woman hotter.
Rest in peace Linda Smith, I thought you were funny (:
Hey, isn't this a bit misguided? Male comedians probably also temper their wit so they don't offend the person they're with. Does that make it sexist?
What the last woman who spoke and the ladies talking about feeling like they had to be submissive housewives was legitimate, but some of the other parts (e.g. Joan Rivers) might just be extending it a bit. For example, if someone was introducing Frankie Boyle they might say "he's not like he's on TV".
isn't it ironic that even these "intelligent, feminist and funny woman" can not talk anything other than man?!
I honestly don't get American humour.. it's totally different to ours...
Why would you? All humour is based on culture. Different countries have different cultures. If you don't get the cultural resonance of a joke you're not going to get it. Victoria Wood once said nobody in America would get her as her humour is all based on subtle elements of British culture. You wouldn't expect an American to get a joke about the cultural significance of custard creams.
Kinda sad/ridiculous that this entire episode was about feminism. So a guy may be intimidated by a funny woman (most very funny people are incredibly intelligent, which is easily apparent when watching the women on this video), but so what? Women are just as intimated by an intelligent/ very funny man. There wasn't an entire episode of boys who do comedy entirely devoted to the male comedians whinging about all the sexism they imagined against them in the world.
Sandra Bernhardt is kinda full of herself methinks.
(contd'),funny irrespective of anatomical differences.Co-incidentally & having viewed numerous 'Mock The Week' uploads on YT the general consensus of opinion from the majority of male commenters is that the female guests on the show are simply not funny, let alone less funny than the male guests! Go figure, lol.
she is not on this because they are only interviewing funny women
Are u male or female? I'm going out on a limb and going to say female? Burke, Syal, Stevenson and Tarbuck?? Beautiful?? Or are u living in "they're female, therefore they're beautiful" land?
Sorry, beautiful human beings?? Oh, you mean in the way that everyone is "perfect at being themselves"? So the reason men appear to be better is because women are LETTING us deliver the funniest line? Ohhhhh, I see now. And there I was all this time thinking it was because men were actually better at being funny. Well that's that all cleared up then.
Just because I think men are better at being funny doesn't mean I don't think ANY women can be funny. Not a reason for me not to watch certain videos
Sandra Bernhard had a "thing" with Madonna at one point in time. Please correct me if I am wrong. Peace to all.
