Everybody I know thinks I’m crazy and has no interest in training or prepping. Im 55 and all banged up from different surgeries now. It’s makes me feel useless and sad that nobody wants to get ready for anything.

Excellent POV. Most of us are Suburban dwellers. All our shit is in our homes. And NoOne should have walking out the door, with wives and children and grandchildren , wearing only backpacks, as a designated strategy. In my case I’ve chatted with most of my neighbors and NONE are runner gunners. But most have personal protection. And at least minimum defense capabilities. I know who’s a garden person. I know who’s got a pool full of water. My strategy currently is to posse up, when the time is right. In a tight timeframe my confidence SHOULD be enough to pulled 5-6 homes into a group. Once a core group’s established we could go door to door and expand. It’s far from perfect… but …

Going door to door when SHTF happens when you need a trained MAG will be like building a firetruck on the way to a fire.
My family lives in a rather remote location but not near as secluded as I want. With the exception of two neighbors almost within yelling distance our next closest neighbor is 9/10 a mile away. Building a mag is difficult but there are many vets nearby. The bad thing about that is many of us a Vietnam era vets. Running and gunning are days in the past but gunning is still a good and available quality.
I must admit, I am far from completing a complete mag and no one seems to want to leave their home so I’m attempting to develop a plan to set up roadblocks at each end of an 8 mile road with 4 dirt roads running off of it.
Communication will be a big part of plan.
      Good luck to all patriots.

The big problem with this is actually organizing your tribe into what their designation will be once anything happens. It’s difficult to get guys who don’t already have a Mil/LEO background to dedicate to any kind of structured preparedness. Oh all my guys are riflemen. Got some farmers, mechanics, a hunter, jacks of trades. But Intel gathering, recruiting/training, and logistics isn’t something anybody wants to handle for the entire tribe. I had to take TCCC classes because nobody was willing to pay attention to that aspect. I hear ya Top, this is a big problem right now. When the Wu Flu kicked off I found a platform/org that enabled people in my area to find each other. The platform/org went sideways and became a commercial endeavor which made myself and many others bailout.
Post bailout we had a 60 person group, the problem was it was like pulling teeth to get them together. Sure they all talked the talk, but that was it! As things normalized it went down hill, they were fine to post now and then but whenever training of any kind came up it was the old, "My wife she, my kids they, my dog it" routine... This was very frustrating for me and others who had put in many hours building training plans etc. Sure, they all wanted to run and gun, but would get pissed when I started every training day with the basics of marksmanship to build a solid foundation to work from.
So here we are, present day and the group is down to 10 people, of those 10 only 2 will commit to regular training. It's like watching a person who sees their kid drowning, yet they are too lazy to go in after them! They all talk of how worried they are, yet are not willing to make the commitment to build a MAG.
I have tried all the usual tactics to find people, go where they are and talk to them, but it seldom yields any results. Everyone is afraid of their own shadow and fears anyone who talks about it, must be a Fed!
Having spent twenty two years on active duty this mindset is very confusing to me. I taught my sons that if your situation is shit, it's your job to fix it. No one is coming to save you, or do it for you, be proactive not re-active.
So this may be my last appeal to others, if anyone resides in the West Valley of Phoenix, AZ. and actually has the desire, and motivation to improve their abilities and preparedness, roger up and let's do it.

I think one benefit of being in the military is understanding what the purpose of many modern military practices are but probably don't apply in the civilian world. You don't have to be a fit special forces commando to keep an eye on the mile area around your place. Nor do you need someone specializing in communications, logistics, and planning for your group of three dudes. When you go back long into history, they definitely didn't have 90 percent of their military specializing in other tasks

The interesting thing about all these discussions is it is all theory based on fantasy. Generally speaking. Does anyone have any real world examples of “preparedness teams” even existing in the variety everyone talks about and being employed in the real world in anything remotely close to the wet dreams folks have?
In my experience there’s plenty of people wanting to be a part of something. They want the experience. Man camp. But no one wants to actually train or become proficient in any area.
PT and basic hard skill proficiency has been a litmus test, on macro in the “movement.” And probably 3% of the mythical 3% even has it, let alone accountability to their “group.”
The survival group in most cases is nothing but a myth. If someone can’t even show performances increases or baseline standards in the hard skills after half a decade, or they can’t show up to “train” when times are relatively GREAT, does anyone really think they’ll show up and put their life on the line for you when it matters?

    • @philliplopez1501
      @philliplopez1501 Před měsícem +2

      Respectfully, I disagree sir.
Theory implies a solution to a problem with facts that are not always fully understood.
In the case of Preppers it is more accurate to see the "problem" as a clear historical trend with verifiable facts that impacted each situation.
So, less theory ( I think this might happen) and more clear factual analysis (when A happens, B follows).
With that said, there is some merit to your concern as to people approaching the situation from the vantage point of fantasy.
To this last point I will mention that there has been unprecedented peace in our country. Thus has led to a shortage of people with real world experience dealing with similar threats to our safety.
There are however a few who posses this needed experience; Veterans. They most certainly are accountable.
They also "train" regularly. Though they probably call it something different.
Perhaps it's Saturday Night Poker followed by Sunday Church? That's networking, team building, and community development.
Perhaps it is offering to cut down a tree for an elderly friend? That's testing and maintaining heavy equipment that will be needed for recovery after a disaster.
Sometimes it's cutting wood? That's stockpiling fuel in case the grid goes down.
Other times it's a deer hunt? That's when we teach others to zero rifles/scopes, and the skills to put those tools into use.
There are a hundred other examples.
If you are not seeing these things, we'll you might need to reach out to a few more of your friends. Perhaps suggest that your group should try one or two.
And lastly, it's impossible to change the behavior of others (good or bad). But, you can be a better example for others to follow.
Build a better group. Offer a better solution and when SHTF the fantasy will end quickly as people realize that what you offer "works".
      Hope that helps,
      Phil

@@philliplopez1501it absolutely is theory. Where has “Red Dawn” happened in America? Where have civilians or jon combat arms veterans had any experience in this? Mel Tappan and Rawles basically look silly in their survival armory recommendations because they had no real world experience in the role they are talking about employing said armory.
Helping neighbors? Cutting firewood? That’s called life. That’s not “training” that’s “living.” In the mountain south this is just how it is. You don’t need a “survival group” at all for this.
Deer hunting, is the requisite firearms training needed for “shtf…” this is about getting laughable.

It seems to me that the internet just isn't trustworthy, period. Tme and time again you've got glowies trying to infiltrate and use/expose people. You just have to vet people in your local area, that's the only thing that'll matter when it all goes down. Someone 2 states away is useless to you and you to him. My first thing is to walk your neighborhood on a regular basis. Just gather intel on yard signs, bumper stickers, and other indicators. You can see where the friendlies and enemies live and what their habits/routines are. Try to meet the folks with camo campers and Glock bumper stickers. In the end, it's your street, your neighborhood that really matters.

Very good video. If we can't name our s1 through s6 in our groups, we are lacking and three steps from a soup sandwich. I've got work to do! Thanks!
