You would imagine the “5 gods of melee” to be very cool or like serious or something. Then you see this video and you realize they are the entire circus
Its such a breath of fresh air how different they are and how much personality they have. You dont see that in other fighting games.

I mean they couldn’t see the future
In 2005 I went to a local tourney in NJ and got JV 5-stocked by M2K's Pichu. The same year I went to a tourney in NYC and got 4-stocked by a little kid. That kid was Hax. Same thing happened with Tweek and Smash 4. His mom drove him to our dinky little local and he bodied everyone with Bowser Jr in 2014 or 2015. Tweek was always a cool kid though, stuck around to play friendlies and grabbed dinner with us a few times.
These guys are dedicated. There are levels to anything. How far you go often depends on what you're willing to give up. These guys have done a lot to be on top. Myself? Me and my friends have our own little meta. At the end of the day, that's what matters to us. ...but we still watch the pros because HYPE. So... getting bodied by a 5 year old? If it happens to me, I got nothing to say. He's on the grind, apparently. LOL.

M2K has been in top 10 for like 13 years, with most of that time in top 5. Deff 1 of the best!
In my opinion mew2king is the greatest smash bros player of all time. He succeeded in several different games and was #1 in brawl and melee. At the same time.
@@owenmurphy924 he's definitely the goat smash player, no one else has transitioned between the different games and maintained results to his level, as well as being top 5 in the most competitive smash game of all time
I wish Hbox was there seeing this after the metagame and seeing how PP says he wants to become a more goofy person and he achieved being the more carefree person he has always wanted to be is simply beautiful

This interview feels different after watching the doc. Just like noticing how PP and Mang0 talk to each other more. Mang0 does kind of treat PP like his little brother. The respect is there as players (imo it seems like he respects armada more than pp) but their friendship and relationship seemed to never really evolve past that dynamic. Which now that we know more about what PP was going through, he definitely needed mango to step up and be a better friend instead of always a competitor.

i kinda love how a video game can bring such different humans together and theyre forced to accept eachothers different natures due to their love and compassion in competing in their beloved video game. mango is like the college drop out, probably a bully in highschool and just played video games instead of doing homework. an awesome lifestyle since i actually worked out for him. and then i find it amazing to see someone like mang0 interact with the "nerds" who are so extremely socially awkward and i just love that mang0 isnt a jerk about it. he could be like "these guys are so weird" because he looks like the stereotypical guy to do something like that but he communicates to and respects these people because of similar interests. i love to see the passion and emotion it brings these 5 gods when they win tournaments and their victories truly mean something deeper than no other competitor. i love melee
