There is a saying that goes “those who can do, those who can’t teach” but this guy is awesome at both. Whenever I want to know how to do anything in bushcraft or survival I come looking on this guys channel first because I know I will be able to do the task by watching just one of his videos rather than having to watch 5 other youtubers vids in a row who badly or incompletely explain/show how to do the job so I can ‘get it’.

I have an idea. Make a Dakota fire pit then dig a trench from end to end through the floor of your tent. Outside of your tent opposite of your Dakota fire pit, build a chimney and cover the trench with bricks or put a chimney pipe in the trench connecting the pit to the chimney. Radiant floors in the woods!

I don't see it as a traditional cookbook with exact measurements, but rather a collection of ingredients and 'suggestions' - to allow us to modify as we see fit. I spend way too much time browsing through old videos looking for some meal so that I can try it out (because so many of them look amazing and all are campfire simple!). Thanks for a great 2021 and looking forward to 2022!
A year and a half ago I was driving a cab in San Francisco, overworked, depressed, trapped in a tiny apartment, and if you asked if I was prepping I'd just give you a blank vacant stare. These days, in Kentucky, I'm well armed, six weeks of food, water and I've got a bug out wood and tarp cabin I'm working on 15 minutes drive from my house in Wayne National Forest. Damn I feel better.

I saw how you had the u-cut block on top of the chimney.
Turn the opening into the prevailing wind and you might create a small venturi effect. That would create more draw for keeping the smoke out. Also, fill the empty cells closest to the tent with block rubble to add some thermal mass to your heating source.

Hoping to keep doing the makeshift/apocalyptic builds. I've been sharing you vids with my sons. Trying to get them to see you don't have to buy/bring everything for a hunting/fishing camp. A little elbow grease and ingenuity can set you up pretty well.

I call that spot the cornucopia….. the horn of plenty that keeps on giving! Those CMUs are in pretty good shape for being dumped away. One man’s trash is another man’s treasure….. I built a wall around my trash cans & steps to my side deck with blocks that people just tossed in heaps that I picked up here & there.

Dang it, I forgot. With those hollow blocks, you could add some rock and dirt inside those cavities. It would provide thermal mass to radiate heat back I would think instead of losing it to the outside. It's kind of like thermal mass heaters used in Russia

Great way to start my Sunday morning!
My best seasoning for pot roast is Lipton's Onion soup mix. A 1/2 bag would work for a small roast sealed in aluminum foil with carrots, mushrooms, onion and potatoes, some broth. I cook for 2 hrs at 375 F at home, the slower the better on a camp fire. Other uses may work for other meats, maybe eggs? Mac and cheese would work for camping. Someone needs to make that same tarp with loops only 10 ft X 10 ft like you said! Loops for stakes make more sense than eyelets that you need to run your own loops through. A matching ground tarp would be great with the same loop positioning so one stake would do double duty.
