@ Corporals Corner It was cool to see the "Green Mountain" coffee since I believe (could be wrong though) that it comes from nearby my area of Western MA., I think the main area where it's made is up in VT. someplace.
Suggestion! Get a large sized rain umbrella. You can use it in the tent door to keep out rain and for privacy, ie, you want to change, check for ticks, take a wipe bath, pee for the ladies, etc. I carry two of them, one for the tent, one for my chair or picnic table for light rain or sun. Tie it down and it makes a safe place to stash a lantern, homemade alcohol stove, etc.
Really impressed with what you found at the thrift store. I enjoy seeing everyday items used for survival. I think we like to spend money on the best survival tools but the truth is like everything else it’s diminishing returns after a certain point. Nothing wrong with spending money on what you like but videos like this just reminds us what is really needed. Outstanding.
When the excrement hits the oscillator you'll roll with whatever you got to get by. I'll sleep on a puffy pink princess mat if it keeps me warm and dry 💯
Thank you Shawn. One more example that the most valuable thing we have in a survival situation is in our head: our ability to imagine solutions to problems, with few resources. Good video. 👍😉
"No expiration date so it must be fine" 🥴 This is why I love watching these videos. Although, I miss the real long shelter building videos, these are great as well, and always make me smile!
I've used that same tarp configuration from my DD 10x10 on several trips I found it to be pretty comfortable. This is by far your best ( budget) over nighter yet.
With everything that's going on in the world your videos about survival with dollar store items may very well save a lot of people's lives at some point. Not everyone has thousands of dollars of camping equipment to fall back on. This old man lives in his bug out shelter in the woods. When we built this place it was built to go completely off grid if necessary. Keep up the great work. Outstanding AF as usual. God bless you and thank you for your service. ❤❤❤🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
And...it is repeatable!!! If a technique is only going to work on rare occasions, scrape it and find an ( adaptable) standard, that will work!! " improvise, adapt n overcome "!!!👍🧙♂️🐺!
Great one. With a nice decent Mora knife, your regular SAK, a better flashlight, and a sturdier backpack from eBay, you're already ready for a bigger adventure, for just twenty bucks more, Still I would serve mac cheese on two separate meals, or even days 🙂
Corporal, once again you have made my Sunday PERFECT! I always want to get the gear that you use and I know I can't afford it, but I think it's even more fantastic that you can show us all. You can do exactly what you do with tons of different types of material. Thank you as my camping gear and emergency gear is growing with my budget. In addition, my skills are growing and my enjoyment is growing because of what you teach and how you teach it. Thank you!!
I love these budget challenge videos. It’s an awesome video format to share with friends that may show interest in camping overnight, but don’t know where to go and don’t want to spend too much just to start. Great job, as always!
Tarp tent is my first choice. I have a DD3x3 that I absolutely love! As always another outstanding af video from the man himself. And with that, im going to like, comment and support. And ill catch you.....next time!
I just did my first solo overnighter lastnight it was an experience for sure but I can't wait to get out again!. I'll eventually work up to building a shelter but overall for my first outing It was outstanding and the chow was pretty dang good to.
If you have then money for it, getting higher quality gear is always a good idea. Videos like this I really like because it helps to show that you don't need to always have the best. I've known some people that wouldn't make it far simply because they held a look down view on 'cheap' gear. If the gear you have works, if it helps you to survive, who cares how much it cost or where you got it. I'd rather have cheap gear than no gear at all. Great video as always. Thanks for sharing.
Little trick (obvious one, I'm sure we all know it), is if you don't mind adding a little extra time, you can pour your weak coffee water back over the same grounds increase the overall contact time, and strengthen it up. No issues at all with the color purple. I enjoyed the video 👍
when we camp we dump the extra bacon grease on the kindling pile soaks into the dry wood and works great I mean you cant camp without bacon its a law down here
Im familiar and proficient with survival skills but I love seeing people do it with cheap or household items, I once spent a 3 day weekend on lake okeechobee with only my swiss army knife zippo lighter and the clothes on my back.
What I learned from this video are the simple things. 1. The counter wrap of twine to keep pot from spinning and the witches pot. When I looked at it, my first thought was, how? The last thing, anything can be used in twine. It’s not tarred or 550 cord. Great lessons learned. Thanks again, Shawn. TVB…Bill
6:07 Speaking of signalling for rescue, that's another plus point for your purple roll mat. Camo, brown and green are great for staying hidden, but if you need to be seen, a 7ft purple rectangle should definitely be eyecatching.
Shells and cheese and those packs of real bacon pieces are regular items in my camp food. Takes up little space. Even less on the way out. Plus you know, bacon
@CorporalsCorner I'm enlisting in the ARMY. I'm going 11B and signing up with Airborne school. I want to do 2 tours as army transfer to the Marines and finish in the Marines. I'm hoping I'll be able to use some of the skills I've learned from you while in the military. Thank you for your videos and everything you have shared with me and others.
Great stuff again. With the coffee, you could bring the water to the boil, dump your coffee into the water and let it soak for 5 minutes (or however long you like) then pour it through the tripod filter you made into your cup. Thanks again
Another outstanding overnight. Very interesting how you stopped the spin on the cauldron that is good to know. Good ole Texas Pete would have been great on that Tuna Mac. I am excited to see what you do next week maybe the stealth camping? Keep up the great work!
Great informative video. You showed us how to get a Functioning bug out bag from a thrift store. And you put it to use. Not to mention this aint no catch and cook channel. Its about education. Thank you Corp. Outstanding. Mind the trolls.
I love this line of videos. It shows what I've been saying for years. You don't have a lot of money tied up in gear to get started and have a good time.
My wife asked if the surprise next week is “butt stuff” 🤣 I haven’t laughed so hard in a while. Love the videos man, huge fan! My wife blames you for my new camping addiction.
More good stuff! When we were kids we didn't have the money for high dollar stuff. Our weekend outings were usually supplied by yard sales, army surplus, yard sales, and whatever we could scrounge from the shed. Use what ya can get and get out there! Thanks for all you do! Keep 'em coming and we'll keep watchin!
A great source for signaling mirrors are old failed mechanical hard drives. They have a mirror polished finish, and a hole in the middle for aiming. There’s also some fairly strong neodymium magnets inside that can be used for many different things.
Awesome AF like always corporal. I would say 80% of my gear came from military surplus and thrift and good will stores. Sometimes you can luck out and find some good stuff. Like they say one man’s trash is another man’s treasure

It was cool to see the "Green Mountain" coffee since I believe (could be wrong though) that it comes from nearby my area of Western MA., I think the main area where it's made is up in VT. someplace.
Have you ever watched GOT... I know I hardly have but man they have some characters on that show.
You have to be the worst cook in history! I’ve watched a dozen of your videos, and your recipes are garbage, yuck! Sender Fi
The shells and cheese and canned chicken breast is actually awesome together. If your broke you can't be picky, or in a pinch.
Shhh, be vewy vewy quiet. We're hunting wabbits! Hahahahahah.
This is awesome! I'm excited to see you hit a well-deserved 1M subs!
You two need to collab one day
you too man and thanks for stopping by
Yo Steve walis iv also watched you for over 3 years man I love your content and I lived in Wheatley Ontario Canada for 8 years
I would love to see Steve Wallis, Sam Bananas and Corporals Corner do a stealth camping video together. That would be so cool.
Hey Steve., nice seeing you here..!
Thanks for the humor along with the survival instruction. You make me laugh out loud!
Same, his military grade humor is great!
I’m a navy brat and all the servicemen I grew up around were hilarious.
When I was in Afghanistan, Green Mountain Coffee sent us cases of coffee and it meant the world. It’s the little things..
Next time soak the coffee grounds in the hot water then use the cloth to filter them out as you pour it into your cup
Once again you show us that it's not always the gear but skill and mind set. Our soldiers stay in the field with alot less. Outstanding AF.
I’m only halfway in, but these are the videos that I live for! I love seeing how different price point items can still work just fine for camping.
"I don't care if it's purple, it's mine and I like it." 🤣 Can't hate on that! Cool vid!
This video had a
“I can go and buy thrift store
Camping supplies,and,
Watch you
Make it happen
Kinda vibe “
Very relatable!
Good job, Corp
(hugs yoga mat) "It's mine. And I like it."
One of the bazillion reasons I tune in each and every Sunday.
The most important thing I learned from this video: It's his and he likes it.
"It's mine, and I like it" That cracked me up! These thrift store challenges are outstanding AF
This is my 4yo son's favorite channel. He told me "this is my favorite guy"
goodwill or St Vincent de Paul southern goodwills rock cause when the snow birds leave they drop off tons of stuff at the good will
Morning cup of coffee and Corporal Kelly

Cool. I like how you used the tree resin for a fire starter. Gonna remember that one.
Look forward to your videos all week!
that tarp shelter is awesome. i may have to use that this summer in the back yard with my grandson

I agree with “SE”... better to have cheap gear than no gear at all... Thanks for sharing sir. 👍❤️👍
That purple brings out the sparkle in your eyes.
I really appreciate Corporal defending his purple isomat. Purple is a boy color, too.
When the excrement hits the oscillator you'll roll with whatever you got to get by. I'll sleep on a puffy pink princess mat if it keeps me warm and dry 💯
That 10X10 shelter was impressive.
I love the “make do with what you have” mentality of your videos. Gear is great, but it’s the person wielding it that’s the most important component.
Thank you Shawn. One more example that the most valuable thing we have in a survival situation is in our head: our ability to imagine solutions to problems, with few resources. Good video. 👍😉
Better than any tv series… I‘m watching the overnighters over and over again.
Greetings from Germany 🇩🇪
These thrift store load outs are cool vids man
I really enjoy these types of videos that prove you don’t need bottomless pockets to get out into the bush and enjoy nature! Well done!
Purple is the color of royalty. King Corporal.
These presentations are the best part of my weekend; I see some nice-looking food items in your kit there!
"No expiration date so it must be fine" 🥴 This is why I love watching these videos. Although, I miss the real long shelter building videos, these are great as well, and always make me smile!
For the coffee, boil the ground I in the pot then pour through for a great cup of coffee. 😊
It was a poly pad in the Army. Just not in purple. So much better than the ground itself.
I've used that same tarp configuration from my DD 10x10 on several trips I found it to be pretty comfortable. This is by far your best ( budget) over nighter yet.

Surprisingly valuable information. What you did here is not a gimmick, it worked. It's well thought out, it isn't magic and it works. Thank You.
And...it is repeatable!!! If a technique is only going to work on rare occasions, scrape it and find an ( adaptable) standard, that will work!! " improvise, adapt n overcome "!!!👍🧙♂️🐺!
Just a idea but maybe 125 dollar amazon survival trip
The king is back. Love your videos!
have posted every sunday for 2.5 years
Would you be willing to make a video of you building a raft or canoe using a tarp, I think your bushcraft skills would make for an intuitive design.
This has long been a great channel! So much work and effort… I can’t even imagine.
2:35 there are many yoga mats but this one is his. It is not his best friend nor is it his life. But he likes it. YUUUUT SEMPER FI!
You should try one of these challenge videos with stuff from tractor supply, I would love to see that.
Great one. With a nice decent Mora knife, your regular SAK, a better flashlight, and a sturdier backpack from eBay, you're already ready for a bigger adventure, for just twenty bucks more, Still I would serve mac cheese on two separate meals, or even days 🙂
You amaze me every time you are in the woods. I love it thank you for that
Corporal, once again you have made my Sunday PERFECT! I always want to get the gear that you use and I know I can't afford it, but I think it's even more fantastic that you can show us all. “it’s Mine And I like it” words from the wise
I love these budget challenge videos. It’s an awesome video format to share with friends that may show interest in camping overnight, but don’t know where to go and don’t want to spend too much just to start. Great job, as always!
Great video. I love the thrift store episodes. I don’t know if people realize how valuable they are.
Ironically I bet that coffee you had in this Thrift Store challenge was better than some of the videos where you had pricier gear, but instant coffee.
I love the $100 store challenges...great vid!
Tarp tent is my first choice. I have a DD3x3 that I absolutely love! As always another outstanding af video from the man himself. And with that, im going to like, comment and support. And ill catch you.....next time!
Great video, enjoying your various adaptations of where to get gear and looking forward to your more permanent camps
I just did my first solo overnighter lastnight it was an experience for sure but I can't wait to get out again!. I'll eventually work up to building a shelter but overall for my first outing It was outstanding and the chow was pretty dang good to.
Sunday nights. Beer, cheese on toast and corporals corner. Outstanding.
Green Mountain Coffee is a MAJOR Vermont employer. We're very proud of our local coffee roaster. I'm so happy it showed up in your video!
If you have then money for it, getting higher quality gear is always a good idea. Videos like this I really like because it helps to show that you don't need to always have the best. I've only been watching for just over a year, but these are by far my favourite kinds of videos.
Im familiar and proficient with survival skills but I love seeing people do it with cheap or household items, I once spent a 3 day weekend on lake okeechobee with only my swiss army knife zippo lighter and the clothes on my back.
Just wanted to say, I like the 20 to 30 minute format. Just enough time to take a break and learn something too.

Nice! Survival with gear that even I can afford!
What a refreshing camping challenge video. This was fantastic. That was a great shelter!
I love purple. It's a beautiful color lol
As always Corporal, you never let us down! Thanks Shawn! Keep up the good work and good luck at Pathfinder! 😉👊👍💯🇺🇸
6:07 Speaking of signalling for rescue, that's another plus point for your purple roll mat. Camo, brown and green are great for staying hidden, but if you need to be seen, a 7ft purple rectangle should definitely be eyecatching.
I just wanted to say that I appreciate the time and money you put into making these videos.
Outstanding af again Shawn can not wait to see off grid Cabin bulid
Shells and cheese and those packs of real bacon pieces are regular items in my camp food. Takes up little space. Even less on the way out. Plus you know, bacon
This video was great. I'll be trying out your tarp configuration this coming weekend. As far as coffee, try 2 or 3 Folgers singles,I love 'em
Have you noticed that the homeless camping on the sidewalks have tarps over their leaky tents. Got to love tarps.😊
Next time you do the improvised coffee filter. Put your coffee in your pot, boil it up, then pour through the filter to your cup.
Ahhh pine sap. Not only do u get an outstanding fire starting source, your hands smell great as well!
Great stuff again. With the coffee, you could bring the water to the boil, dump your coffee into the water and let it soak for 5 minutes (or however long you like) then pour it through the tripod filter you made into your cup. Thanks again
You can also just pour the coffee a second time through the grounds.
Great vid. Thx
Btw. Stakes hold better if stuck 45 deg into the earth. Not 90 deg
do that with grommet and film it
Corporal never miss a shot.
AF as usual. The tarp configuration is awesome.
The vids where you improvise with "not-camping" stuff are some of your best work, IMO. ANOTHER GOOD'UN.
That was one clean build !
Was a good watch, thanks man.
My guess for next week
A camping with Steve video
Another fantastic solo overnighter video. I am a Corporals Corner junkie. Please keep these and other videos coming.
I wish our thrift store had a selection of food like yours, really enjoyed this video, good job!
Thanks for the awesome content. These are my favorites. I love the cheap gear videos. Or the ones where you use the least amount of gear possible.
Another outstanding overnight. Very interesting how you stopped the spin on the cauldron that is good to know. Good ole Texas Pete would have been great on that Tuna Mac. I am excited to see what you do next week maybe the stealth camping? Keep up the great work!

Never a dull video Corporal!! Thanks for all you do.
Another outstanding AF CPL KELLY instructional video. Thanks for what you do. I learn a lot from these.
I don't care if it's purple, it's mine 🤣🤣
Awesome!
A great source for signaling mirrors are old failed mechanical hard drives. They have a mirror polished finish, and a hole in the middle for aiming. There’s also some fairly strong neodymium magnets inside that can be used for many different things.
This one was a trip down memory lane. And a few more good to know tips. I used to go camping like this in highschool! 😁 Thanks Mac!
I don't care if it's purple, it's 7ft long, it's mine and I love it. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!
Awesome AF like always corporal. I would say 80% of my gear came from military surplus and thrift and good will stores. Sometimes you can luck out and find some good stuff. Like they say one man’s trash is another man’s treasure
Your videos are a welcome relief from all the craziness in the world today. Thanks.
