Great selection. One tip I would add for stake selection is know your ground. In Seward, Alaska, at the head of a ocean bay, the area is all alluevial fan dirt with large rocks, so strong metal stakes are a must to get and break through rocks. Thanks for taking the time to teach us!

You inspired my 13 year old daughter to take inventory of her emergency/bug out kit. We have 5 children and they all have their own kits. They all enjoy your videos. Thank you for taking the time to teach us these skills.
I don't know if you'll ever see this comment, but just a tip I learnt from my time in the Infantry, if you didn't already know: When you showed of your trauma kit, it would be worth it in my opinion to take the CAT tourniquet out of the packaging, and have the end of it pre-fed through just one of the loops.
This means that if you somehow lose function of one arm, say for example you take a nasty fall and have a protruding bone injury that's hemorrhaging blood, you can still self apply the tourniquet with one hand.
I say only thread the end through one loop instead of both so that you can still pull it tight with one hand, then the velcro will hold it secure enough for you to use the windlass rod and properly tighten the tourniquet.
Loving your video's man, I've learnt a lot of valuable techniques from your experience.

When you hear "The chair is against the wall" you KNOW that SHTF! Great kit and exactly what I was thinking for simplicity for those without many of the survival skills. Just enough to get you where you're going. I did a little bugout for my own mental health a few weeks ago. Put my Pathfinder canteen cook kit and bag in my motorcycle saddle bag and went to a local campground overlooking a reservoir with hardly anyone there. Used my little propane stove to boil up some water and had a Stowaway Bison Beer Chili for lunch while watching bald eagles...Merica!

Absolutely the best bug out bag I’ve seen so far. If you were to price it the same way as the Amazon bug out bag it would probably cost $700.00. The only item I would add would be to throw in a packet of bleed stop (it’s a granular material you pour on a cut that would require stitches otherwise and completely scabs up the cut). It was a trip saver for me on a canoe trip I took. I was a little careless and cut the palm of my hand that would have required at least 5-10 stitches. I poured the bleed stop on it and it instantly stopped bleeding, I followed it up with some gauze and duct tape.

15:35…. I had that radio during the Texas freeze power outage….. was able to use it to get emergency information and use the flash light….. we had no power for four days…. Solar charging worked greats….
I was in the Navy from 72 to 80. As a parachute Rigger, we dealt with survival items for the pilots. One of the things that you mention is coffee. In the survival vest back in the day, SV1 and SV2, was an item called "Eat A Cup Of Coffee". It looked like the old candy "Charms" but was light brown and came in the same packaging as Charms. Small, compact square roll and tasted just like coffee. BUT these things were dynamite. One candy was equal to a cup of coffee and loaded with caffeine. Two of those would defiantly get you going. The only drawback was it wasn't a warm beverage. Of course if you punched out of your plane over water, there really wasn't any way to make a warm beverage, lol.

I'm glad you included that IFAK. It is a great value and an excellent starting point for building a solid kit. First aid may not always seem as sexy as the survival or tactical side of things, but I'm a firm believer that everyone should get trained on the basics.
Very similar to my pack. I do carry a little more as far as pots, but is will also be responsible for my wife and 3 kids in a true emergency bugout. My youngest has his own pack with enough gear for maybe 2. My wife and 2 kids have a form of muscular dystrophy, so anything limiting their mobility in an emergency is a no go. But my youngest is 11 and stout as an ox. He loves bushcraft and practicing survival. Your vids are our Sunday tradition!

With the Pathfinders 10 C's & redundant C's as the foundation, a bug out bag should be stocked with items for an individual to sustain themselves in the event that they need to bug out solo. Items that the person is capable of carrying and skilled at using.
I'm trying to balance a two person bug out kit with my small teenager. For example, his bag is stocked with a sleeping bag & a bivy for shelter, while my bag is stocked with a sleeping bag and a two-person tent. This way his bag stays lighter but still capable in the event he is alone.

Corporal, can i just commend you for your incredible consistency. No long ad breaks, concise and to the point information and no unnecessary hyping or swearing for effect. i keep checking back every couple of months to see what you've been up to and it's just a chill and enjoyable experience every time. I also appreciate the nod back to the amazon tent video, considering how some people basically attacked you for talking crap about it, even though you mentioned better alternatives. In this video, you then showed a product that you found to be better, but at the same pricepoint. Really solid performance all around!

Great instruction block, as usual, look forward to learning more about surviving if caught in a less than desirable situation. One thing I would add is how it fits in the bag. Packing a bag right can make rucking a bag a lot easier.
Another item for the first aid kit should be a quik clot pack easy to use lite weight and combined with a tourniquet if u got a gusher of a cut it works
I fully agree with you, johnfrank tullo. Some may think that the items you mentioned are unnecessary, but they would be wrong. Not too long ago while I was home alone (husband was in a nursing facility), I was climbing down off a tiny 6-foot tall ladder after trying to change a lightbulb in my garage ceiling. Thinking my next step down would be my last, it almost was, as I lost my balance, fell backward and hit my head on the concrete garage floor. Luckily for me, my split-open head did not hurt as much as it bled, and I knew where to go for immediate urgent care. I wrapped a kitchen towel loosely around my head and put a plastic cap on it and headed out for treatment (that headdress did not help much). If I had had a blood clot package at home and the sense to use it, I would have done. God forbid that something similar should happen when I'm in the boonies alone or with one cohort.
I keep a 6ft ratcheting strap in bug out bag. Many uses for it including using it for a tourniquet
Good video! I am putting together a bug out bag. I just ordered a small tent and 2 sleeping bags made for cold weather. I’ve never successfully camped out in the wilderness, I’ve tried; but as soon as the sun was starting to set, I’d panick and quickly put everything back in my car and go to a hotel. I think if there’s a serious situation happening that I would need to flee quickly, I would make it happen. You make it look so possible.

This is the first time I see a survival instructor even mention the Sawyer. It's always been so close the the Grayl in my book that I got both.
The radio isn't so much a luxury. Getting outside info can be critical, like weather, news, or disaster updates. Also, you might have unavoidable downtime. A radio can add back a little amount entertainment instead of boredom. You may have some things you need to take your mind off of if you've bugged out. Don't underestimate boredom. It'll dull your mind.

Your bug out kit was awesome and your thinking process behind this kit made sense as all your videos have. I’ve put together two bug out kits for my wife and I. I’ve followed many suggestions from your videos. My oldest daughter has taken interest into bushcraft/hiking and I introduced her to your channel. She loved it so you should have a new sub. The compass and beads are still one of those skills from the Canadian Army I always held onto. I carry a small backtrack gps but always have a map of he area I intend to go or have been in my hunting pack. Almost no civilian these days know how to use a compass and map.
Escape and evasion exercises were some of my favourite. Basically by helo or truck dropped off in the middle of know where given a map and compass between you and your fire team partner and now get to the extraction point within 24 hours without engaging or being caught by the enemy.

PS: a instructor once showed that if you don’t have pacing beads he would pick up 10 pebbles, rocks, or even broken pieces of wood. As we went he would drop one for every 100 meters. Once he got to the last pebble he knew he had travelled 1 kilometres and then put it in his empty pocket and start over again.

Your bug out kit is SO MUCH BETTER than that P.O.S. $500 pre packed book bag. AND thanks again for introducing me to some TACTICOOL gear / water filter !! What is your opinion on DIY alcohol stoves (fancy feast can stove) and/or fuel tab stoves ? I always watch your tutorials from beginning to end and DON'T blame ya for ignoring dumb asses who ask stupid Q's (especially since you specifically mentioned that info).

Thank you for your service. Much respect to you for being a channel that actually goes out and uses the gear they talk about. So many of these guys have channels that they pack a bag, take the stuff out of the bag and put it back in. Talk about why you need it and don’t put the gear to the test. It’s seems like it’s fostering a believe that just owning the gear makes you ready for anything when in reality if the owner doesn’t know how to handle the stresses, environment, have a proper understanding of situational awareness, all they’re left with is a large bag of gear to run around with. I recently came across a channel where a guy took his buddy’s gear pack without knowing what was inside and went and survived a night with what he had in there. It’s a shame more channels aren’t highlighting the process more than the gear, and that’s an area where you shine brother.

I think that if you have to bug out chances of surviving for a lot of people will be very slim. Probably survival of the fittest will come into play.

Check out camping with Steve (he was shouted out in a recent video and hope they do a calab with each other) Steve's are often about camping in weird locations often areas that if caught someone might not be the happiest but hey sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.
