  • What can a failed uprising tell us about Victorian politics? Quite a lot, actually.
Just a minor correction: I said that Scotland's strikes started on the 1st of April; it was actually a few days later, but the Yorkshire uprisings were organised to coincide with these.

Yorkshire has a larger population then Scotland and an economy twice the size of wales yet we have lesser powers to make our own decisions. Constant underfunding just proves that Westminster still does not care for Yorkshire. Yorkshire can in theory go it alone as an independent nation but that’s never going to happen. So the only other option is full devolution in Yorkshire, to have our voices heard and to have investment we desperately need.

@Ghibli92 I’m not saying they should I’m a Unionist all I’m saying is that the facts and statistics point to Yorkshire being very successful if they was to become independent.

Absolutely loving your videos, I'm learning a lot and find them really entertaining and informative. Can I make two small suggestions? Love the intro, but it needs a bigger punch at the end as it seems to fade out. Also at the end, you need to hold the last scene a bit longer as you say the last phrase, then bang, you're gone. Lots of channels use an outro, maybe record a bit you can add to every video? Of course, I'll still watch them anyway, and ignore me if you think I'm wrong! Keep em coming!

Oh wow I'm glad I found this channel. I've been trying to learn the yorkshire accent and haven't had any good higher-pitched samples. You not only provide a good training voice for me, but also some intriguing history!

Things like the Corn Laws, the Six Laws and the reaction to them, have lead directly to a lot of the freedoms we have. Wonderful reminder about why we ignore our history at our very great peril.

There is so much of our history out there, my foreign wife is totally amazed by it, we should be proud of our history and not ashamed, once again the saying you're never too old to learn comes to mind.
